Why did websites and critics start raving about how brilliant and amazing Cain's Mockingbird is after it was cancelled? You'd think they would have tried to raise awareness about how good it is beforehand to, you know, prevent it from getting cancelled.

Because it was shit and only the online harassment controversy made it meaningful enough to praise out of principle

Yes let us retcon a rape victim getting revenge on her rapist and turn it into she cheated on and lied to her husband and then killed the man she cheated with.

Because those websites don't care about comics unless they are already popular. For example, these same sites gave New Avengers terrible reviews would turn around and give Bendis Spider-Man perfect ones.

Nobody cared until Cain retconned the rape into Mockingbird being a cheating whore and people got pissed. It's really funny actually how SJW clickbait websites came to Cain's defense just because she had a vagina. Despite what she did was terrible and was hated by other feminists on tumblr.
But when your Marvel you control the Internet....

>A fake harassment controversy.

Because they forgot it existed until people made fun of the cover artwork.

Because male comic book nerds starting talking shit about the writer on twitter. Then writer decided to quite twitter (for unrelated reasons I think?) so comic book journos being so far up there own asses that they are decided to turn it into a big deal and pretend that her just canceled book was the greatest thing ever and write a bunch of shitty biased articles about evil white male comic book nerds harassing some poor female writer.

tl;dr SJW bullshit

How exactly is removing rape from a character's backstory a bad thing?

Shut up.

You think falsifying a rape and then murdering an innocent to cover up your lie is an improvement?

\
Because it changes her justifiable homicide into first degree murder.

It was for the greater good that he was executed. Was a dangerous person that thought he was an indian spirit.

Kinda like how we went from no one giving a shit about this dogturd of book to having a thread every week since it's 'controversial' now.

Clint should've known she was speaking figuratively. She's too strong to be raped. Only weak women can be raped.

I remember when the first two issues were out and reaction here was just that it didn't make any fucking sense. The one with girl that bubled her friends and apparently caused the deaths of multiple people with no treatment as a bad action while Mockingbird complained about all the superheroes being guys, including ones that she was older than or were working with female superheroes since the start and how this seemed to cause all sort of continuity issues.

Because a womyn wrote it and it was Marvel.

Actually, this. After the retcon Marvel needed a way to shut fans up, so they made up a fake controversy and Disney had their shill network spin up stories to defend the book.

Why didn't they just have an editor shoot down the story?

because until the MRAs who didn't read it either started trying to make shit over it, those sites and critics hadn't read it

own goal for team fedora

They probably thought it was a good idea until they found out it wasn't.

It's pure shit, and I wish Sup Forums would stop giving it the attention Cain wants.

There exist worst things than this. Shit should be reserved for which has no points that are even neutral, simply negative ones.
