> Yes, I'll stand by that. I mean, she was Miss Israel, and she was wearing a kind of bustier costume that was very form-fitting. She's absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. To me, that's not breaking ground. They had Raquel Welch doing stuff like that in the '60s. It was all in a context of talking about why Sarah Connor — what Linda created in 1991 — was, if not ahead of its time, at least a breakthrough in its time. I don't think it was really ahead of its time because we're still not [giving women these types of roles].
That just sounds like a fancy way of calling Linda Hamilton ugly.

He's absolutely right. Pretty feminine women in leading roles even in action movies have been around since the 60s-70s, but Hollywood now wants to make every new female character the new feminist hero that smashes the patriarchy, even though it's nothing new.

he's saying that the point of a good action female character is not portraying a female as a regular male character as Gadot was in that movie characters like Ripley and Sarah relied on their most feminine traits to overcome their odds - this is empowering women Gal Gadot relied on being invincible and the main character

This is total non-news unless you're a normie fag concerned with pegging someone as either SJW or woman-hating-nazi. The world is more than black & white and I don't see the benefit in picking apart this guy's reasonable opinion.
Brayden Wood
Gadot was not a "regular male character" in WW. that makes no sense. her whole deal was being a woman from an island of women who only grew up with women and were ignorant of men.
Tyler Wood
MANSPLAINING IN 2017
Jayden Allen
you didn't get the point the point is she overcomes her odds by behaving like a regular male action character does - this isn't female empowering, it's just molding women as men WW has been praised by radical feminists because that's exactly what they believe however, that the liberated woman behaves just like a man this is what Jim was tackling
Logan Baker
Avatar was so goddamn boring.
Bentley Watson
the worst part is that on the surface it looks like she is behaving like a female character. but it actually is just like male characters.
>I will defeat defeat you with the power of love! Oh so feminine
>*just pulls a deus ex machina and obliterates the bad guy with a lightning bolt*

WW was an acceptable movie, nothing more. It excelled only at not failing, and sexists, ignorant to the internalized misogyny of their own lowered expectations, have been showering themselves with attaboys and good boy/girl points for blindly lauding mediocrity.
Christian Morales
But the way she succeeds is by being practically invincible. Theres nothing womanly about her except being played by a woman. Sarah Connor and Ripley feel like female characters.
Its pretty dumb criticism because shes a superhero, but its only his response to retarded media calling her an empowering character. Empowering to those retards just means untouchable and flawless. They dont want real characters because that would imply flaws.
Xavier Collins
you're so dumb is painful
Matthew Baker
This movie is popular because of SJW politics. They see the fact that it features a female superhero protagonist as the main qualification for its greatness - the additional stamp of authenticity comes from it being directed by a woman (nevermind that the story is created and written by men).
The film plays to the fantasy of "a woman is capable of ANYTHING" to the extent we're meant to believe that such a scrawny and naive protagonist is a badass warrior who can take out multiple soldiers. It's like casting Michael Cera as Batman, creating tons of CGI fight sequences and saying "Yeah, he totally did that." It's delusional. At least Sarah Connor in T2 looked like she could knock somebody out - and what made her believable was that she was actually vulnerable. Wonder Woman played the game with god mode enabled.
Jace Morgan
I love ww. My wife gets to feel like a stronk wymon and I get a new Blu-ray of soft core cape porn to jerk off to.
I dont understand why this isn't a win-win for everyone? She is wearing a tight leather outfit from the island of beautiful lesbians because even real world 300 pound sjw women with short blue hair and face tattoos understand what beauty is. So long as the character fights according to thief ideals they will accept it having the idealized beauty that would have been admired by the Nazis. What's next? Superman has to be portrayed by a 400pound man with down syndrome otherwise he is an example of toxic masculinity?
Jonathan Diaz
exactly, if you compare her to Linda or Ripley or many other female characters she's just a cardboard cutout of what a woman is supposed to be if you have nothing to say you should just not reply
Cooper Cox
>the point is she overcomes her odds by behaving like a regular male action character does you mean flying towards and punching the bad guy? wow. so gendered.
>that the liberated woman behaves just like a man but she doesn't. she deliberately disobey's her male partner's order and goes alone to save that beseiged village because muh Love, muh Poor Villagers.
she's portrayed as more caring for civilians because she's unaccustomed to the barbarity of man.
>It's not about deserve. >It's about what you believe. >And I believe in love. This was pretty much her character motivation in a nutshell. It's supposed to highlight how her femininity distinguishes her against the landscape of cruelty she experiences in the land of men.
It's cliché, but you hardly see men heroes say this at the climax of their movies.
Cameron Martin
>feel like female characters
In Alien and Terminator, which they are essentially survivors of a horror movie.
In Aliens and T2, they are literally men with vaginas arming up with machine guns.
Evan Price
>WW was an acceptable movie, nothing more.
Which is more than could be said about anything that Cameron has released in the past 20 years. Avatar was mediocre and Titanic was dogshit.
Adrian Carter
>make reddit butthurt >don't understand the point
Angel Anderson
So WW "acted like a man" and so she isn't ground breaking but Sara Connor acted like a woman to get what she needed and so she is more feminist?
Why didn't WW just flash her boobs and flirt with the Germans and let the boys do the mans work of taking out the machine guns and saving the village? Is that what you wanted? Would that have made her more feminist for you?
Michael Sanders
Wonder Woman is being hailed as a great icon for women, while it's really nothing special.
Hudson Gray
>cool cgi
that movie was a disaster.
Jaxson Baker
The problem isn't the movie, it's how it's being praised.

I agree. There's nothing groundbreaking with Wonder Woman. She's just a sex symbol who fights.

agree with this, but it's progressive mostly because of the context in which it exists: it's a high budget modern tentpole superhero film that exists within a cinematic universe, and it's directed by a woman, which had been rare in itself. That's mostly what makes the film progressive rather than the actual content.
I wouldn't downplay that woman who directed Punisher though. That's a much better film in almost every aspect.
But I guess it is a male-centric film, about men, largely for the hardcore action film demographic, which is men.

Being pretty and physically strong at the same time is not new or groundbreaking. It hasn't had a cultural effect since Terminator.

Kevin Edwards
>a bunch of jews and crying womyn mad that he talked about their imaginary hero will stop Jim

Cooper Morgan
It could be taken as a low-key insult, but the point is she wasn't sexualized and she wasn't a sex symbol. She was a strong female character 25 years ago, much more so than Wonder Woman this year.
Jose Perez
I don't understand. For years the critique against female superheroes and the comic industry in general is that women are objectified; that no matter their character they are made to be supermodels posing in glorified bikinis and spandex leotards. But then James Cameron says "Yes, WW was a good movie, but it's still a male fantasy, she's still sexually objectified." and he gets hated on for pointing out that WW is still running through a war zone in a skirt and halter top and being played by a beauty queen, and that half the movie is her falling in love with a man explaining to WW how the world works.
He could have been more diplomatic about his opinion or better yet just don't talk about politics in Hollywood but he's correct.
Kayden Peterson
Cameron is just being contrarian. Hes saying that Hollywood isnt feminist ENOUGH. Hes just shitting on WW, but saying that women need more badass roles in Hollywood.
Its probably just publicity.
James Sanchez
WW was just another superhero movie, and desu was really disappointing with the boring plot.
I'm surprised Cameron is even wasting his time giving this much attention to it.

Why does Kill Bill get completely ignored by both sides in this stupid debate? It's like the ultimate female power fantasy with mass appeal for everybody. Far better movie than WW or T2.
Elijah Green
It all started when he was promoting Terminator 2 in 3D and to mention how Sarah was groundbreaking he compared to Wonder Woman who is just more of the same.
Even the interviewer said she would probably not even include that bit because she didn't think anybody would care about that.
BUT HOW DARE YO U CRITICIZE WONDER WOMAN IN THE CURRENT YEAR
Now they want even more headlines and went after him. Good for him for keeping his opinions.

Christian Garcia
You're so wrong. Ridley was written as a make character and cast as a woman very late. The point of her is that she acts as any other soldier would, not that she defeats the alien through her feminine wiles. Wtf.
Cameron is saying Linda Hamilton was a compelling action star in Terminator 2 because she was strong and gritty. Gal is pretty, but looks like she couldn't take a punch. When female action stars start looking tough and muscular, then Hollywood will have finally caught up to fucking 1991 and what Hamilton and Cameron did in T2.
Nolan Ward

>The point of her is that she acts as any other soldier would, not that she defeats the alien through her feminine wiles. Wtf. that's her strong point, she is described like the underdog that she is and overcomes the most impossible odds by sheer survival. Survival and endurance are the quintessential feminine traits, and not only in literature but in theater and other mediums as well. They are what makes real life women strong.

I would unironically rather watch that movie than a man with a cunt beeing praised as a femminist icon.
Your penis envy knows no bounds. You have to reject your femininity since you are so atrocious by design. Blame your mothers and your diet or something and piss off cunt.
