This videogame has the same gameplay as the Spiderman 2 movie videogame, but with a comicbook aesthetic and being able to play as Venom, you even get to fight Wolverine inside a bar.
I'm honestly wondering why we can't have a modern iteration of this videogame with much better physics, an improved version of the web-slinging action in the movie videogame, and a better story. It would define be GoTY.

There will never be a better Spider-Man game than Maximum Carnage on SNES.
It had a shitty VA but its spidey mechanics were the best.
It was the only game where I genuinely felt like playing spidey. With the web moves and mid air attacks hundred feet above the city as I fight Vulture and his drones in goblin glider gear.
IT was fucking amazing.
However what stopped it from becoming the best spidey game was the VA and the lack of proper side missions. They were all beat em up and escort missions. Nothing of the variety you find in Ultimate Spidey or Raimi Spiderman games that made them unique. Hell even the shitty ASM games had tons of side stuff to do compared to Web. Which was a shame.
I really want them to bring that level of web swinging back ;_;

I just hated how much of a hassle it was to unlock costumes. It's almost fucking impossible to get the symbiote suit.
Also the game is pretty short and has you do the same side missions over and over

The web slinging physics were garbage compared to the Spider Man 2 game, the map was also much smaller despite depicting a larger area. Never played any of the Spider Man games after so I can't comment, but of the two Spider Man 2 was vastly superior.

I hated those moments where you had to mash the L and R shoulder buttons to save the people under cars. The fact that the green goblin is throwing shit at you while doing it just makes it worse.
Still a great game though. Playing as Venom is probably the closest we'll have to a super hero version of gta.
