It's not even the best Ghibli film.

The best part is the train ride.

And also the feeling of the film at the beginning from the drive and then walking across that field into the abandoned amusement park. I wish I knew more movies that just have that feeling of mystery and pensiveness and just the way it feels when you're traveling far away and see these lonely little scenes in the distnace that you know you'll always vaguely remember but never see again.

Like during the train ride, those little shots of the distant houses, the shadowy riders getting on and off. Evokes that melancholy beauty of traveling and romantic memories perfectly.

it sucks you faggot
best film of all time is deadly weapon starring mel gipson

I remember being a teenager.

>A children's movie with a dogshit ending
>Best film has ever been made
Imagine all of the 11/10 kino this guy hasn't seen yet. Pity or envy?

What was the point of no face. The transition from no face fucking up the bath house to being on the train tracks was abysmally paced.
What was with the haku name ass pull? If the plot was going to be about saving haku, then why have such a shitry deus machina reveal?
Go rewatch it. You are remembering the entire film as being better than it actually is. Unless you are one of those "visuals are everything" casuals, that is.

>Unless you are one of those "visuals are everything" casuals, that is.

People like you are the worst, those "intelligent plot" plebs.

Everything is based in the style, aesthetics and the spell that casts. Everything else is secondary to and a byproduct of that. A story is just an extrapolation from the kernel of its style, as is everything else. Without good aesthetics there is NOTHING.

This is a movie for CHILDREN, Myazaki himself said that with few exceptions, he'smaking movies for children. An adult may enjoy them as well of course, but the morals and stories are meant for kids to understand and learn from.

This movie is about child slavery.

I know exactly what you mean. I've never seen a film that really delves into that atmosphere, though many briefly evoke it.

>no real plot
>Muh first anime teir
>Le quirky reddit characters
>2deep4u meme repeated 5 times

It was trash, the only good (great) thing about it was.the quality of the animation being ahead of it's time

what's your favourite film?

>>Muh first anime teir
Anime, generally, is trash. What weaboos call "entry level" is actually the best it has to offer.

Yeah. I guess Lost in Translation is kinda about that feeling, of when you're far from home and the fleeting experiences. But I'd love to see it explored more.

Or maybe you can only capture that feeling in little moments.

Hunter Prey

Judging an entire medium without exploring it is adolescent-tier.

>No real plot
Way to out yourself as a pleb instantly.

Seriously.

When is a final war between the 'real plot' anons vs the 'aesthetics' anons going to happen already? We just need to get it out of our systems already.

Can't wait to destroy these fedora-tipping 'plot' guys.

in response to

Cinema, generally, is trash. What film buffs call "entry level" is actually the best it has to offer.

the two aren't mutually exclusive nor is either necessary for a good movie. no war needed.

>What was the point of no face.

To portray a stalker character becoming infatuated with the MC and being driven mad over his perceived rejections.

One day you'll wake up and see the headlines, a full frontal assault and every last plot focused pleb is dead.

People who think Only God Forgives was good will be attacked by both sides.

I think the point of was not that you're pleb for simply wanting a plot, but that you're dumb for not picking up on the plot that Spirited Away did have. It means that either:

a) You just watched the dub, which does more or less completely ruin the plot and make it pretty much incomprehensible, resulting in a movie that feels like a bunch of random events happening in sequence

b) You were actually too stupid to actually follow the plot of this children's film and understand its events or themes

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is the only one that deserves to be there.

Afraid you're mistaken, it's The Godfather.

Why do they repeat these scenes shot-for-shot (other than the background changing) at the beginning and end of the film if Chihiro was supposed to have developed as a character? Why is she still grumpy and clinging to her mom?

Not him but The Godfather is a 6/10 movie with a couple of 10/10 scenes, nothing more.

Beg to differ, I think it's a 9/10 movie with maybe a couple of 6/10 scenes.

It's a ripoff of Yojimbo.

God I'm a raging lolicon and I can never get behind ghibli designs.

Sorry, but the majority of plebs and critics disagree with you.

>Or maybe you can only capture that feeling in little moments.
I'd say it's because it's more intense if it's concentrated in a small scene. It'd also be difficult to make an entertaining movie like that. Still, it would be nice to see someone try.

Yep, it's fucking fucking great, the only movie that comes close to it is Mononoke Princess, the other Ghibli movies tremble before them

You're thinking of a different western.

Same applies to TDK, Fight Club, and Schindler's List apparently.

Funny you say that because Spirited Away is the most different looking out of all of Miyazaki's films. You can see that its character designer (known for Paprika and Paranoia Agent) was really allowed to come through with his own style more than ever, as opposed to his work on, say, Princess Mononoke which was much more in line with typical Miyazaki designs.

Remember that moeshit fags that pollute this website hate Miyazaki for him calling them out as cancer.

They're even in this thread now.

it's certainly the best animated film ever made

It's a longtime well-known fact the dollars trilogy is a western adaptation of Yojimbo's concept.

TDK, Fight Club and Schindler's List don't appear in top 10 films of all time lists.

The reason she's clingy has changed.

Reminder he's said pedo shit when drunk.

>Learn to be a slave
Wew, Really makes the walnut roast

user...

Only A Fistful of Dollars is a remake.

It's a different western, but it's in the same series and has the same main character

I still think Sleeping Beauty tops it for animation kino.

Pretty fucking top tier, will raise kids on. 10/10

I think it's a 5/10 with a few 8/10 moments and several shit/10 moments

It's not a remake. The character itself is based off of Sanjuro, the entire series follows the same concept as Yojimbo and it's sequel. This isn't really disputed, nor is it a problem. Just educating you, take it or leave it. Both are 10/10 film series.

Are you fucking gay?

Bicycle thieves is a better childrens film by miles.

Plot twist: the pleb is you and sometimes widely acclaimed films are really that great

Are you a fucking pleb?

>animeshit
>best film ever made
>>a

spirited away

No.

i am a kissless virgin with no empaty or feelings but Whisper From A Heart and Kiki Delivery Service always make me feel alive again

New as in new to the Internet or the English language?
You deserve bullying. The OP names the director and the subsequent post names the studio. What more do you want?

Proof?

You're not special. Only kissless virgins like anime, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to make that post.

He's right though. Entry level anime is the only anime that isn't garbage.

Kids watch anime, grown ups read manga.

Go away.

>Only kissless virgins like anime

Can confirm. I'm 33 and I've got 1500 hours clocked on MAL.

He killed millions

>movie for children

the parents turning into pigs part scared the shit out of me as a kid, gave me nightmares

So is anime.

Dubs confirm, good taste.

It's not even the best Ghibli film. Nausicaa is obviously the right choice, followed by Laputa.

I'd rank Akira second

Keit-Ai is better.

A boy falls in love with a girl.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

FINDS A WAY

I saw the whole movie front to back recently and thought it was good but not greater than the sum of it's parts. There are better Ghibli films.

Already a thing.

Where were you when Sup Forums memed hard enough to turn a pasta to the best selling anime movie AND a Hollywood flick.

I don't know if it's the best but it has the best scene in anime history.

vimeo.com/91985775

>inb4 some End of Evangelion bullshit
It's not even comparable.

Because she was trying not to look back like Haku told her u fukkin moran

I don't understand Sup Forums memes.

Fuck, I should have invested in Keit-Ai stock.

Agreed. I don't know if "best" can really be objectively quantified, but it's easily my favorite movie ever made. I've watched it hundreds of times and every time I watch it it's still as magical and euphoria inducing as the first time I watched it. Truly a classic.

Good, that's the whole point, to teach kids that stealing is bad and it has consequences.

>stealing
Who stole anything?

I bet you think anime is for kids to huh?

The parents stole the food without asking anyone for permission, they thought they had a right to take it when they did not and as a punishment they were transformed into pigs.

>dude capitalism is bad lmao

it is.
it's just that communism is worse.

It was clearly a restaurant, though, and they were going to pay. They did nothing wrong desu

me too man

Both communism and socialism are trash. They're like the government equivalent of living in your moms basement and have her pay all your rent.
