Who?

You must have imagined it.

...

I went to school with a bunch of chinese and koreans and there wasn't a drop of dye amongst them. Where did this trend come from.

Where did you go to school?

The Pacific Northwest is packed full of 'em.

>Where did this trend come from.
Media

>I went to school with a bunch of chinese and koreans and there wasn't a drop of dye amongst them.
Were they cartoon characters?

>an asian wearing a shirt that says "monkey"

Lol

I know right? Its cultural appropriation of Black people.

It's definitely not as common as cartoons make it out to be but guys dying their hair is a thing in Japan.

It's cause asians have really boring hair compared to whites. White can have multiple shades of blonde, brown, red and black, but asians just have black. You've got to find a way to make them more interesting and differentiate them, and thankfully hair dye exists.

I think it's that in the simplified world of mainstream media, plain black hair means a character is evil, a goth, or antisocial. Creators want to stay true to the fact that all asians naturally have black hair, but want to make it clear that the character isn't one of these archetypes. Only a guess though.

>What are stereotypes

>all whites are the same
ok

Japs don't even want to stay true to black hair. That's why anime character hair is a rainbow.

Huh.
Never noticed this.
Thanks for pointing it out to me user.

sometimes literally

I read that as dyke hair at first

>but guys dying their hair is a thing in Japan.

It's a thing for girls too.
