Vidya Movies

Why do they suck?

>implying that sucked

Persona was pretty good

Fucken Normals don't see the beauty of Super Mario Bros.
Reddit as always

Because video game stories are hackneyed garbage that are only marginally better than comic-book writing, and movies take out the key part, the interactive element.

This, SMB was made with tons of love and it really shows

in my mind, it's the only one that's in any way entertaining because of the concept that the game is a loose adaptation of the "real" events of the movie
all other game movies try to recreate the feel of a game that was already itself an interactive movie but without the interactive part which it's built in audience is tricked into seeing it and being bored to death by

go to youtube and find a gameplay video of a game you've never played before, now see if you can watch it for 2 hours. its shit right?

thats why video game movies suck. its like staring at a meal without eating it

You're pretty smart, user. A rare sight these days.

Most games have too little plot to stretch out over an hour and a half. Some games, RPG, have too much plot to condense under just 2 hours.

Terrible analogy.

Phoenix Wright and Dofus movies were pretty good.

It's like Blade Runner meats smb.

>play the new Doom game
>it's great
>stay up late one night and look for shitty HBO softcore porn
>the Doom Movie is playing
>for some reason The Rock is a possessed space marine and generic action hero protagonist has to fight him with a gauss cannon or some shit
>it's fucking garbage
literally the fun in video games is in the interactivity
especially with a game like Doom, where the new game literally makes jokes about the player character not caring about the game's exposition at all

It was too much like the game.

>He doesn't love the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

It's a sin that there was never a SF vs MK game.

>generic action hero protagonist
Oh you mean critically acclaimed actor Karl Urban?

Doom is a great cheapie horror/action movie with Rosamund Pike's sweater puppies bouncing around for all to see. The fact that you can't enjoy a movie like that and feel the need to analyze something that is very plainly stupid for all to see demonstrates a lack of depth or perception.

tl;dr stick to video games kiddo

Vidya movie producers are relying on rose colored nostalgia goggles from fans of the source material to make up for thei movies shortcomings.instead of putting every ounce of effort into making a quality movie.

Vidya movies need do follow the lore behind the game and NOT THE GAME ITSELF BECAUSE THATS FUCKING STUPID AND GAY AND CHEESY AS FUCK

>cheapie
it cost 60 million and looked like it was all filmed in one blue hallway

And that's exactly why SMB is a great movie.

I can't say that I didn't enjoy Rosamund Pike's sweater puppies in that movie; in fact, that was why I left the movie on.

FFIV Kingsglaive did it right and to a lesser extent Advent Children.

Doom could make an entertaining action movie if it was basically a straight adaptation of the games where the entire movie is about a pissed off space marine running around Mars and eventually hell murdering everything in sight

SMB is pure kino.

So Hardcore Henry in Mars/Hell.

To make a good Doom movie it needs to be something like Monsters Dark Territory. But done better. Basically the Demons need to be "real".

Like its the real world but theres real demons running around. and these are real soldiers living in this world with actual demons.

Hardcore Henry was so fucking overrated. I couldnt even finish it.

Agreed.

I unironically like watching this movie.

I'm sorry.

There seems to have been a resurgence in popularity for this movie over the past couple of years. Originally, I wrote it off and assumed it would be shit, but after seeing that many people view it as a misunderstood, underrated gem, I decided to watch it myself. And oh man, it is SHIT. It's just a really fucking stupid movie. I'm usually the kind of person who watches movies to the end even if I'm not mad about them, but I had to drop this one two thirds of the way through because of how moronic it was.

I realise now that this resurgence in popularity was sparked by one thing and one thing only: blind nostalgia. People who had watched this growing up are now adults on the internet fawning over all the shitty pop culture they consumed as children. It was only a matter of time before enough people who were nostalgic for this piece of crap got together and started proliferating the idea that this movie is anything other than a profoundly retarded shitfest.

It was pretty much wat this user described Which would seriously get pretty old after the initial novelty wore off. Something like Hardcore Henry is best as a 10-15 min Youtube video but nothing more.

Sounds fun at parties

Never Forget, Never Forgive.

What age are you? Because if you had went into a cinema when you were 9 to watch this, excited to see a Mario movie then you would agree it is fundamentally shit.

>a kid's objective view is what matters
you sure told me man

Dofus/Wakfu is the exception. They were made to get people into the games but nowadays the games are just a shitty timewaster for people who got into the series.
