That seems to be the case with a lot of different characters in different fandoms.

It's more interesting when you understand she is hundreds of years old and each year adds another level of irony to her being.

Mostly due to outstanding voicing work of Tom Kenny. That guy is incredible!

Something about her voice bothers the hell out of me. Hynden Walch isn't terrible, but it doesn't fit this character.

She's like a female H. Jon Benjamin. Works great for some characters (Starfire, Sterling Archer) not so much for others (Bob Belcher, this bitch)

Ice King and PB are really the only characters on the show that I found genuine interest in.

I like Hynden playing PB. She has a sweet sounding voice, and yeah it would be nice if she talked sexier but part of why the character is so memorable is because of the voice, it stays with you.

What about Marceline?

Marceline has always been just so-so to me. Not really into the punk rock, daddy issues chick. Didn't really ever like the character and never found her progressing story all that interesting, save for I Remember You. And even that is old news. She is just kind of there, Adventure Time could've done without her.

In my opinion, she's kinda like Wendy from Gravity Falls in that regard. Neat design and potential for a character, but she's too cool and competent to be funny or interesting.

I'd bring up principalities, but Ooo is called a kingdom, right?
