Every single one of these characters I've seen in a previous cartoon or sitcom.
>Bitchy older sister >Ditzy blonde teen girl >Hotblooded rocker >Comedian who tells bad jokes >Sports-loving jock with bad hygiene >Creepy gloomy goth girl >Polar opposite tomboy and girly-girl twins >Science nerd who wears glasses and talks with a lisp >Baby whose shtick consists of toilet humor
Seriously, every single time the goth girl appeared onscreen, I found myself saying "Hello Gaz, I mean Mandy, I mean Raven, I mean..." And the twins remind me so much of Phil and Lil I'm surprised Klasky-Csupo hasn't sued.
taking a wild guess but >smooth animation >situations are plausible enough to relate, but still silly enough to have fun with the concept >use of archetypes allow each sister to be differentiated at a glance >good comedic timing >cute
Don't try playing retarded, you know the answer is waifus.
Ethan Collins
Network executives especially like to rely on the familiar. I think the same is true for most people as well. If something worked once before they hope it will work twice or three times etc.
That's not inherently a bad thing. Many shows and tons of movies both great and terrible make their hay by taking stock characters and putting them into situations driven by the story or the setting.
Kevin Hall
How the fuck is Lucy anything like Gaz or Mandy besides being a goth? Also, dirty-clean is not a Klasky original concept, you're also retarded if you honestly think the idea behind a character HAVE to be 100% original for them to be good.
Ian Long
>Talks in a creepy monotone >Associated with supernatural elements >Rarely (if ever) smiles >Frightens the other characters on a regular basis
Jayden Thomas
Also, why did the science nerd have to talk with a lisp? There was literally no reason for her to lisp other than "nerds in other cartoons do it".
Jacob Walker
Your bait's stale, just because you compare the characters to other cartoons doesn't necessarily mean it's automatically bad.
Joshua Jenkins
That's the point. She's an eight-year-old goth played straight. The rest of her family doesn't take her seriously because she tries so hard, whereas in Zim and Grim Adventures they had to be viewed as legitimate because they're violent and controlling. Lucy also scares her siblings by sneaking up on them, not by being actually frightening like Mandy and Gaz were. Also the super natural elements she's associated with are just interests, not actual real things entire plots are centered around. Hell, the one episode it was, Tarot Card reading, was shown to be entirely fake at the end. She also smiles quite a lot, which she tries to hide by being a try-hard poser as previously mentioned.
Thomas Sanders
Because she's a kid and kid has lisps? I don't understand the logic of "this thing did it, so we can't" you're trying to pull here.
Anthony James
Maybe it's because people like watching fresh new characters, not overused and cliched stereotypes.
Bentley Stewart
Clearly not since this show is crushing the ratings. Besides, why go with something new that MIGHT be liked for something you know people will enjoy? It's just basic business sense to go with old reliable. Besides, stereotypes are fine if the stereotype itself you're using is good.
Leo Cook
Because I've never talked to a girl so this is the only exposure I have to them. Luan is my waifu because I want a girl to be funny with me because I want to be happy with my waifu
Asher Anderson
But you've never seen anyone as cute as Luan!
Adrian Green
This is like the third anti Loud House thread in a row tonight, like clockwork
I'm pretty sure it's spam at this point JS
Leo King
Surprinsingly, she actually smiles plenty.
Carson Price
>dead fandom Its more like we are tired of shit posting adventure time gets so we only like to discuss it when a new episode comes out or something. It doesn't need a general in order to have an "alive fandom".
Jackson Edwards
Because waifus.
Thomas Peterson
All I know is that there needs to be more lewd of the Punk sister.
Blake Campbell
It's a relatively relaxed family cartoon (compared to, say, Breadwinners), so a lot of it's being a return to form for Nick.
Also it has the occasional top-tier episode, like Joker-Luan or everyone pretending to be each other.
Joseph Lee
It's fun.
Easton Nelson
Kids like the show because of waifus...?
If that's the case, why does it beat SU in the ratings which literally has a female alien race who constantly want to fuck?
Michael Sanders
She's smiling in OP's pic you dumb nignog.
Chase Brooks
Come on user. You and I both know the AT fandom has fucking shriveled as the show has gone on. You wanna shit on LH, go for it, but don't lie about the sad state of AT right now.
Oliver Murphy
I haven't seen that show in like three years. What happened?
Gabriel Williams
>I haven't seen that show in like three years. Exactly. People stopped watching the show after stuff like Breezy, or when they realized plot lines will get dropped like hot cakes at a moments notice.
Carson Perez
Well, when it comes to lore driven fantasy shows about magical girls....MLP already cornered that market thanks to the brilliant vision of Lauren Faust and her perfect universe that proved girl protagonists don't have to be shit
So basically what I'm saying is....SU fucking stinks and is trying to corner a market already cornered which is probably why it's fans are so thirsty to be noticed and recognized, and Loud House represents an alternative to all that....it's just a funny feel good cartoon in the old school style, and that alone sets it apart from other shows
Samuel Carter
>brilliant vision of Lauren Faust Back to the Quarantine Zone. Door's up top.
Henry Richardson
>It's canon that Lincoln gets to wash Lori's gym clothes
Carter Sanchez
Heh, fuck off, SU will be remembered for nothing but driving people to attempted suicide and SJWs
Elijah Gray
Now, I wasn't saying I disagreed, was I? Loved Equal Fights. Still, aheh, might wanna keep a lid on the cultism.
Evan Reed
>whaaaaa my favorite show isn't as popular as Steven Universe, must be an SJW conspiracy
Jack Thompson
>is trying to corner a market already cornered
Why the hell can't there be two popular lore cartoons with magical girls? There's already like a thousand "LOLOLOL THIS FAMILY IS SO WACKY" shows like Loud House and no one seems to stop them making more.
Austin Brown
Do, do you actually think SU is more popular than MLP?
Jayden Peterson
>Why the hell can't there be two popular lore cartoons with magical girls?
There's already at least three. You forgot one.
Hot new genre coming through.
Luke Long
It's a good show and is entertaining to watch.
Alexander Russell
In the latest season, Steven averages around 2 million viewers per episode.
MLP averages 200,000.
Blake Evans
That's stiill nothing compared to the show's heyday. Besides, LH itself regularly breaks 2 Mil and SU's rating.
Connor Powell
>smooth animation Not as good as Mercury Filmworks. >situations are plausible enough to relate, but still silly enough to have fun with the concept Situations however are sterile and are done poorly. >use of archetypes allow each sister to be differentiated at a glance Still 1D. >good comedic timing Bland, Toon Boom tweening can only go so far. >cute No, rigged and rough yes, but not cute.
This is worse then Filmation, at least Mir is on par to Filmation.
Benjamin Bennett
Call me when SU has it's own theatrical release Or better yet....even a toyline, or a merch line at all, or documentaries made about it..or....or...
Jose Young
>has it's own theatrical release
*has its own theatrical release
Jaxson Morgan
Yeah it's an autist, probably from the loud house general
Benjamin Gutierrez
What were the ratings in MLP's heyday?
It was on an obscure channel at an awful hour of the morning, so I doubt they were bringing in 2 million views.
Carter Hall
>a shota and his loli incest harem
I don't understand the confusion.
Grayson Lewis
>Friendship Is Magic originally premiered with an average viewership of 1.4 million per month, but expanded to 4 million per month by the end of the first season,[159] making it the highest-rated of any Hasbro offering at the time.[154] Advertising Age reports that the viewership doubled between the first and the second season.[160] The Hub Network reported that "Hearts and Hooves Day", an episode on the theme of Valentine's Day, which aired on February 11, 2012, in the middle of the second season, was the show's most-viewed episode ever, and the second highest of any program of the Hub network; its viewership exceeded 150% of that of the previous year.[161] This was surpassed by the two-part season two finale, "A Canterlot Wedding", airing in April 2012, marking the broadcast as the highest viewership for the Hub Network to that date.[162]
It may have been at an awful time in the morning, but remember that it took off so hard we have a quasi-mythology about sealing it away. I actually wonder how much that depressed the ratings.
Zachary Campbell
Jeez, you'd think the Hub would have jumped all over that, showcased it, and thrown money at the production team instead of cutting way back.
They really didn't know what they had on their hands.
Ian Fisher
It's a simple cartoon in an age where a significant amount of cartoons are trying to be complex. It doesn't try to be anything more than what it is, a decently entertaining time waster.
Jeremiah Perry
It's simple, it's pedo fap-bait, and lots of people can fantasize about being with at least one of the girls.
That's the reason. If you don't believe me take a look at the trash threads, I see them on the front page from time to time, shit is ghastly.
Juan Ross
/sug/ plz.
Colton Martinez
Children like it because it isn't ashamed of being a children's show
Adam Nguyen
Hey Sugar, if you're so jealous why don't you just draw attractive characters you fuckin pig
Liam Collins
>admitting going to /trash/
Justin Murphy
>being an edposter
Bentley Jenkins
I don't even watch this show but you do realize that originality is dead right? No matter how hard you try to make a character, the archetype would have already been done already in a previous piece of human culture if not cartoon. How about you come up with a original character type boi
Thomas Ortiz
But that's Kevin.
Robert Allen
Dork
Dylan Lopez
...
Christian Lee
Herem merry sues..
Nathaniel Morgan
The porn and waifus.
Lucy best girl, btw
Gavin Murphy
this is a weak arguement, MLP has been around for decades before the current TV show, and the current TV show was made to sell toys
Asher Wilson
loni's cute
Nathaniel Sanchez
Not really desu, only seen it being talked about is here
Nathan Reed
lewd
Zachary Miller
>true patricians like me fantasize to being fucked by chubby little boys
Jason Ramirez
No, this is. . .
Parker Torres
People need approval for watching a cartoon
Austin Carter
Haven't you watched YouTube? Plenty of kids do "tributes" to the sisters (the shitty music ines not the cum ones) and put them in that giddamn Roblox game.
It is to hard to hate this show because I feel bad for the characters to, they seem cute.
However "waifu bait" does not exists in cartoons, is an Anime-exclusive thing.
Angel King
The show is still popular despite your contrarianism.
Anthony Green
>MLP has been around for decades before the current TV show And? I don't see any new movies about the old pony shows. Just the current one.
Lincoln Sanchez
Didn't MLP drop off hard or is it still doing well?
Jose Flores
>this thread
Sebastian Sanchez
Because its CGDCT for the western audiance. Waifuism is a natural part of that genre.
Jayden Rivera
Ponies actually do shit and gems do not, despite being inteo for a younger audience.
A year ago I was quite interested in Steven Universe and I though more villians than just the Diamonds were needed, simply just to maken the protagonists something to do.
I tought about the nefarious "Deros", the people that live underground, research about them, they are scary.
Also, reptile people from Lemuria that somehow are connected to Gems and their war.
Nolan Sanchez
There's still another movie on the way. And another season of the show. Bronycons are still going strong too.
Luis Taylor
I'm curious. Is the amount of MLP-talk in this thread enough to summon Barneyfag?
It''s getting a feature movie in 2017 and the seasons just keep coming. 0,26 million people watched the finale in october while 0,30 million watched the finale last year. It's consistent and sells shitloads of toys.
Brody Jackson
His script only picks up on images by comparing them to the ones on derpybooru. Discussion don't matter.
Isaiah Sanchez
Under a million is pretty low compared to SU and Loud House, but neither of those have toy lines nor autistic enough fans with expendable income.
Christian Morgan
...
Dylan Russell
It's unfair to compare them though. The target audiences are too different. 6-year old girls and their parents don't plan their schedule around the newest episode of MLP and a sizable portion of the niche adult/teenage audience don't necessarily even watch it on television. Also the cash flow comes from toys, not cable payments or television commercials like they do with CN and nick.
Besides those kinds of numbers for a preteen toy commercial is pretty impressive. More fair comparison would be shit like pet patrol or whatever else 6 year olds watch these days.
Henry Flores
> it's another "Sup Forumsmrade complains about a show being popular while revealing in their complaints that they haven't actually watched the show, instead of trying to start a discussion about something he actually enjoys" thread
Gabriel Long

Sebastian Brown
I want to pet her pussy
Isaac Fisher
>Luan start speaking
I aww'd loudly.
Anthony Wright
>My son is gay and he is 9.
I wonder who really wants him gay, he or her mother.
Jason Richardson
I knew i liked girls and men when i was 6. I dont think hes lying their.
Jaxon Martin
>What I prefer...
Carson Edwards
It's not uncommon to know your sexuality at that age
It's slightly rarer to want to announce it to your class
Michael Morgan
You just answered your own question. People like the show because the characters personalities remind them of cartoons they watched in the 90's and early 2000's. It's not difficult to see the appeal.
Anthony Flores
This isn't on the Booru.
Where did you get this
Christopher Reyes
Mum bum.
Gabriel Miller
Are we at that point of the thread?
Cooper Morales
He also farts.
John Scott
>It's bad because I read on TvTropes that this sort of character archetype has appeared in some obscure media before 30 years ago and therefor its unoriginal
No surprise. People who bash this show never seem to have any idea what makes a cartoon a good piece of animation. They just want "feels", or carrots on a stick dangled in front of them in the form of incomplete lore or ships so they have something to argue about in the 24/7 general thread, or some left-leaning political message rammed down their throat.
Come back when you can appreciate the superb why the voicing cast comes together, or how character/prop/background all mesh together well rather than just being solid color CalArts blobs imposed on a highly detailed background, or when you figure out that things can be funny for kids and adults and not exclusively just one or the other because its so bad when a character farts but so awesome when a character says they are pissed.
Jaxon Gonzalez
Really heartfelt and well-argumented post. There's only one little point you're missing. The show is mediocre.
Sebastian Bailey
What are some good cartoons out right now then according to you?
