Honestly I doubt we'll ever truly know for sure. Shane probably had some sort of hero worship for Monty and by extension Sheena, and even admitted that the three of them had been considering taking the RWBY property to LA and starting a new studio there. It does seem like the relationship was more one-sided from Shane's POV, but once again, we'll probably never know for sure.

Honestly stuff like this makes me think Shane was being outright delusional when he wrote that letter. I get, and to an extent even respect, that he wanted to keep that sort of 'garage band' feel of a small team of friends animating cool shit, but RWBY had already out grown that by the second volume. Even if they upped sticks and moved to their own studio, that feel would either change as a result of having to deal with audience expectations, or that audience would fade away. Dude seemed to think RWBY could be an indie operation forever

RWBY: Escape from the HaRen. Some user posted about it here a few threads ago. Only fic Ren gets a harem, but he ends up crazy, Cardin becomes a good guy and the professors make a game out of who can rescue Ren before the sunset. There are a lot grammar mistakes, though

I seriously doubt Monty would abandon RT like Shane was implying he "Totally would". The gook literally had like, all his friends there and they only periodicalyl gave him shit about deadlines fro projects he should have been smarter in approach to. Shane seemed to be sucking on the cock of some idea that Monty hated everyone at RT even though we know for a fact that if he did, he would have jumped ship a LONG time ago because that's the type of person Monty was.
RT basically followed a rule that Burnie talked about with internet Drama and basically "no commented' the hell out of it and it mostly died on its own. it didn't help that Shane revealed in the letter some rather bad practices that Monty and Himself did which kinda shot himself in foot in his quest for sympathy. Things like not storyboarding, dogged resistance to switching from poser to maya, inserting scenes without consulting Miles/Kerry/Gray etc. It definitely painted a Team Monty versus Team RT, at least in the sense of how the RWBY crew produced RWBY. Sheena seemed to agree with Shane's letter (she retweeted his announcement tweet) and kept the go fund me open for several months past Monty's death. What was done with the money was never really talked about, but they pulled in a lot, at least 30k if I recall correctly.
True, RWBY had already gotten too big for a small team and small tech, but there's no denying Monty leaving RT and trying to fight for the RWBY property would have looked nasty no matter how you looked at it. I'm honestly thinking it was mainly just idle banter/bitching Monty and Shane were exchanging during the difficulties of making RWBY at that time. I don't think they seriously considered trying to yank RWBY away from RT in any real capacity.

Shane's letter was.....interesting, to say the least. At least 20 pages (that I recall, I'm sure it was longer but I'm deliberately low balling it) of ranting about how great Monty was, how great his method of working was (despite the obvious issues like not even considering using storyboarding, the resistance to moving to Maya etc) and just generally publicly chewing out RT for perceived and real slights. The whole thing was a shit show

Yeah the reason folks are kind of reacting so strongly is Shane didn't really hold back on his criticisms of how RT handled things post Monty's death. The way he writes it, RT basically orchestrated the sabotage of his career and destroyed "monty's way" of doing things with RWBY. It's 36 pages of a very angry one-sided look at how RT did things.
I have to wonder how Shane feels now, knowing that he basically ruined any chance of a solid career he could have had by acting like he was and dropping info like he did in a buttmad fury.

Monty might have been considering trying to move to their own studio while still being affilliated with RT in order to make RWBY for RT without taking up company time for it, which is why they have to jerk between RWBY and RvB each yeah.
But no way Monty was gonna just ditch RT. He loved them, and they loved him, and Shane seems like he was too busy being Monty's toady to notice.
We are not getting longer episodes because the budget does not allow it. How should RT fix their budget and increase their income?

I recall something to that effect that she was frequently traveling back forth from LA to Austin to do shoots and whatnot, I could see them considering setting up a small remote studio, like a Micro-funhaus for logistics sake and just help RT from there.
