It's John fucking Williams man

>direct film
>composer watches rough cut or individual scenes
>creates music to fit the specific mood or tone depending on your scene

that's how it usually works kiddo

Yeah and your supposed to communicate with your composer. That's what Lucas did.

John Williams is garbage now. He didnt made a memorable theme for the lat movie.

Even RotS score is kinda shitty.

If you want a movie that is based around the music, that's called opera.

All his scores sound the same

Are there any examples of directors and composers who collaborated all the way through the filmmaking process (so the composer was already involved during screenwriting so musical cues could be planned) besides Kieslowski/Preisner?

Williams has a considerably better understanding of Star Wars music than Johnson. Lucas wasn't very powerful on the set of the original Star Wars anyway.

Communicate what? If you think Lucas had anything other than a passing influence on the score you're delusional.

yea and mike jordon dont make his own shoes neither you dumb fuck

Lynch is a musician and an auteur. Different than most directors.

And? Jurassic World and TFA scores were the most generic, forgettable work he's done.

Dude you must have realized at this point that by hiring John Williams at this point you are hiring 2 or 3 ghost composers while he takes the credit. it must've been like this for at least a decade.

...

nah, the problem is that every director who works with Williams wants a Star Wars/Indiana Jones/every other movie spielberg has directed score or something really similar to that.

Williams, all though overrated to high heaven, is a more versatile composer than alot give him credit for.

Jedi Steps and Rey's Theme are good

Finally good news

you think average directors like fucking brett ratner or alex kurtzman sit down with their composer and have an intimate creative session?

GET REAL

Isn't Rian aspiring to be something more?

Rian is also a musician

>Aside from filmmaking, Johnson is a folk singer and banjo player, and some of his songs can be found on his website

The Resistance them is pretty garbage but the rest was good.

More generally; you guys realize that film is a

>Collaborative medium

yes? Or are you faggots actually of the mind that directors are solely responsible for film quality?

>being french

>Jurassic World

Not Williams, Michael Giacchino. Understandable mistake, though. Giacchino even did Rogue One.

Leone and morricone. The music would be composed before shooting began then Leone would play the music on set so it would influence the atmosphere of the scene and the actors. Even if it meant having to dub their voices in post later.

This. The making of Stars Wars book by Rinzler contains Lucas's notes
