Greg Capullo was headhunted by both Marvel and DC when he left Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane‘s comic, Haunt. He had a choice of Wolverine or Batman and he chose the dark knight, working with Scott Snyder and together creating one of the legendary runs on the character for the DC New 52.
At the conclusion of that run over four years later, he co-created Reborn with Mark Millar, published by Image, and being adapted as both a book and a game. But it was promised that he would return to Batman, to work with Scott Snyder on an All-Star Batman storyline.
Batman is the dream gig for 90% of cape artists. You can't go higher than that job, choosing it over wolverine is common sense. I hate batman but I would totally choose it over anything else.
