If we are to assume that Deckard is a human, how do we explain Gaff knowing about his unicorn dream?

If we are to assume that Deckard is a human, how do we explain Gaff knowing about his unicorn dream?

maybe they both saw Legend

The same way you explain the stick man, and the chicken

Deckard does not dream about a chicken though.

That Unicorn scene wasn't originally in the film. Why so many nOObs on Sup Forums all of a sudden?

And 10,000 threads about Blade Runner 2049?

No, but the origami is made just the same.

not canon

When did Leon have a dream about a man with a tripod dick?

The origami was just to show that Gaff had been there and was giving Deckard a chance to escape with Rachel

The movie would be so much better without Deckard dreaming about that stupid unicorn.

Unicorn is a symbol of hope and freedom. They insert memories not dreams after the replicent is made. And even if they did why would Gaff know that?

see

there's a fan cut of the Final Cut that removes the dumb unicorn dream, right?

the figurine is meant to first and foremost communicate that his friends was there, but is letting them go. The unicorn could be random. Maybe the dude only knows how to make like ten different animals and that was one. Coincidences happen all the time. The real miracle would be if they didn't happen. Or hell, maybe the its not a dream, but a memory, and the future has replicant unicorns? The point is, deckard doesn't know, and the audience feels that uncertainty with him. don't listen to ridley about this. he himself keeps changing his mind over the years, hes senile.

Unicorn scene was added years later. Ridley has gone senile. Don't listen to him. Ford and the script writer maintains that Deckard is human.

>how do we explain Gaff knowing about his unicorn dream?

Ridley is a hack

It wasn't in the theatrical cut, but the scene was in fact shot for Blade Runner, not Legend, as many people think.

He's just that good at origami.

There's no reason for him knowing about his dreams, he just likes making faggy horses.

Simple.

Gaff is visibly wounded (walks slowly with a stick) and holds some unknown senior position.

He knows of the unicorn dream because Deckard is a replicant with Gaff's implanted memories.

Gaff was too old and incapable of blade running so they got a custom replicant type to do it for them but with Gaff's expertise implanted.

That's why Deckard is seemingly street-savvy but has no friends, no family, no background of any kind except for generic "old photos" he keeps around and weird dreams. He's just a tool for the job.

Gaff even says as much "You did a man's job".

plate of shrimp

FUCK that fucking unicorn scene
Not only did it ruin any ambiguity about declare being a replicant or not, but the fucking horn wobbles too and it's distracting as shit

Who cares only DADOES matters anyway

Deckard is a human, just one lacking empathy because of his situation. Doesn't make him a replicant, the replicants are meaningless and also have no empathy

Deckard can't fight for shit. He's weak. Every replicant was stronger than him and nearly killed him. If they wanted a replicant for blade running they could do a lot better.

He's an interesting character because he's a fragile man, and it's his lack of immersion in the real world that creates his attachment to Rachel. Even though he's a human he's just as real as her, maybe less so. That's why it bothers him so much that she's a fake. He has even less going for him.

>Gaff was too old and incapable of blade running so they got a custom replicant type to do it for them but with Gaff's expertise implanted.

If he was custom then why is he shit at fighting? Even a sexbot can beat the shit out of him. Why go through the trouble of making him if he is going to lose in a straight fight. Face it, the idea of Rick being a replicant makes no sense other than to have a pointless le epin twist

>the replicants are meaningless and also have no empathy

Roy proves this false at the end which is essentially the entire point of the movie

He doesn't really feel though, he's an android. He's just a pieced together bioflesh with someone else's memories

he saves deckard and then reminisces on his experiences. his memories are his own you stupid fucker.

He's nowhere near human, he's a facsimile of his creator. If Tyrell would have saved Deckard, so too would have Roy. His moments lost in time don't make him a human being, it's all programming

>shifting goal posts

we're not talking about being human you fucking illiterate retard. we're talking about empathy.

Maybe Gaff just likes making origami and leaving it places.

A robot can't have empathy. Only in the ridiculous Blade Runner book sequels is this even a theme

Deckard in both film and book is only 'lacking' in empathy because of the torrid conditions of the story. Deckard's wife in the book only has empathy as a coping mechanism, she looks to things like the robot frog to keep her 'humanity' going

So it's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness?

What was Gaff doing in 2049? Fan service? What about that sheep?

It just became unclear to me now I began to think about it.

>Gaff knowing about his unicorn dream?
He didn't.

The origami Gaff left all over the place was simply to make the audience aware at the end of the movie that Gaff knew Deckard was keeping Rachael at his apartment, and that Gaff CHOSE not to take her down.

Die, the original cut of the movie never had this scene in it. Deckard is human.

not only did he get his ass beaten, but when he kills the snake girl he's in shock. why the fuck would a blade runner, i.e. someone who kills replicants for a living, be so effected by another kill that is in no way or shape unusual.

for someone that is supposed to be the best he sure sucks at his job. it's pretty obvious that in reality he's a replicant meant to breed rachel as explained in 2049. what the fuck was the point of sending him to tyrell corp to fuck around with rachel in the first place?

compelling rationales

he does feel, and it's a different kind of understanding, human and not human

he has other peoples' memories to stabilize his emotions, right? if so, your argument is now invalid

He didn't, it was a coincidence in that case.

Deckard got the unicorn because Gaf knew he was part of Tyrell's plan to create a replicant that could breed. Whether he was a replicant or not is irrelevant.

The same thing happens in 2049 when Joe gets the sheep.

>what the fuck was the point of sending him to tyrell corp to fuck around with rachel in the first place?
Tyrell's motto. He wanted to make robots that were more human than humans, and saw an opportunity to test it.
