Well in my experience of shooting my various funs including this bad bitch SLR, a mag grip on an AK seems to work better on a bench when you don't have a rest/bags. It's also slightly faster for me if I'm in a standing position. I will say though that with my WASR or any of my 7.62x39 AK's that when I use steel mags they tend to heat up fairly fast, not as fast as a wood handguard or all the steel down there, but maybe three or four mag dumps worth
