why would anyone do that?

because i like superhero comics and because they are free on the internet. it's fun on a weekly basis to know what happened in every corner of the dc universe. i spend about 5 hours reading comics every week like a ritual.

im reading every DC title that is part of the main universe (and a select few of the Hanna Barbara comics) for the two years of the "Rebirth" storyline. So far its pretty good.

cool, talk about your experiences so far. does it feel hard to maintain that amount of reading? how long does it take you? do you plan to keep doing it beyond rebirth?

>does anyone else actually read every dc/marvel title on a weekly basis?
I'm reading every Rebirth title since the launch. Only exception is Justice League, which I can't stand and just skim over.

>How long does it take you?
About 15 minutes per issue spread out over two to four days in the week when I'm free and in the mood to read.

>Why would anyone do that?
It's pretty entertaining overall and the DCFriends are so considerate with the storytimes. I'm now planning on buying several trades on release.

I am reading everything DC mainline, plus Hanna Barbera and Young Animal and my indies. Takes like an hour a week.

>read every dc/marvel title
What kind of an idiot would do that? Both Marvel and DC only have around ~10 genuinely good books each.

If it was about reading "good" books then DC and Marvel would make up maybe 10% of my reading list. It's not about that. It's about what's IMPORTANT. I want to know what's happening in these universes, how these universes are changing and evolving, what titles are affecting other titles in these universes, I want to see it all.

Have you never watched a movie a mediocre movie? Not every comic you read has to change your life you know.

Because cartoons are boring as shit now.
Just biding my time with comics before I jump to /ic/.

I'm reading every DC Rebirth title + The Flintstones

Also Carnage, Punisher, Spider-Man/Deadpool, Steve Rogers Capt. America and every #1 Issue that Marvel's been publishing recently (just started reading Gamora, Capt. Marvel, Nova and Starlord)

Apart from that, I also read many of the storytimes posted here daily. Last week I read Alan Moore's whole Lovecraft saga in 4 threads in as many days. Been also keeping up with the Spider-Man 2099 threads and I'm going through all of Amazing Spider-Man from OMD and onward since I heard they're kinda restoring Peter's marriage.

It does take an amount of time that I do not have (because I also watch many tv shows and an insane amount of porn), but hey... It's 4:36 AM righr now so, you get the picture.

I don't sleep much. Don't really need to.

I do have a girlfriend and regular sex, promise

only dc friendo. and i skip shit like harley quinn that doesn't matter.

So you have no job.

I read every DC title on Sup Forums every week except for 1 or 2 like the Harly Quinn solo. I also buy 2 or 3 issues from the store, but those ones are almost always on Sup Forums anyway unless it's the week for Teen Titans or Titans, which always seem to take a while for Sup Forums to upload..

I read pretty much everything DC puts out week by week. But it's only because I'm enjoying most of it. It don't see what the big deal is. It only takes a couple of hours to do if you read it in one go

I actually do buy most of Marvel every month.
I've never gotten everything, and there's a bunch of comics I've bought but just procrastinated about for too long and never read.
I'd say in the end I read about half of what they publish.

Lol Sup Forums actually reading a funny book

I usually get everything read by the following wednesday if I'm not too busy, on a good week I can read everything by Sunday night. It does make it harder to go through my backlog stuff though and has made fifth weeks a god send.

I dont plan to do it beyond Rebirth, but ill probably end up following more DC titles afterward than I was before. It has helped turn Seeley into one of my favorite writers.

Reading all rebirth, young animal and HB titles. usually comes out to about 13 to 17 issues a week and I read them over the course of a few days at about 5 a day. the titles I really like (90℅) I breeze through super quick some take a bit longer cause there a bit more of a chore.

nah but i have read every single valiant comic from the 2011 relaunch up to today

I have gone to those page scan sights to read and download the images for free, but I feel so guilty about it I actually only read the comics I've got subscriptions to.

Nah, I tried doing it with both Rebirth and Marvel Nower, but I just got bored after about 2 weeks with most titles.

Right now I'm only reading about 5-6 comics from each company (and from Rebirth specifically it's only 2 titles, the rest are part of Hannah Barbera/YA/minis not part of the Rebirth storyline). Kudos for those who can read everything, I just can't do it.

Masochism is a thing now.

Even Faith?

ESPECIALLY FAITH (it is actually average to above average except for the election issue, also one of very few valiant books that plays around with the stuff already established in the universe more than making up new stuff)

>About 15 minutes per issue
Are you jerking off while reading ?

It takes no more than 5 min to read a dialogue heavy issue.

What would you recommend from Valiant? I'm trying to branch out a bit since I'm really bored with Marvel and DC's output these days.

I will be honest i don't read ms marvel, shield, mockinggirl, squirrelgirl and nova.

Do you have a reading order to read it ?
There are already so much event, crossover and relaunch in it that it is a mess now.

it takes me like 1 hour to read one issue

I skim through every single DC comic and every #1 from any publisher every week. Only a few titles I actually read anymore.

start by reading the harbinger saga which is in this order:

Harbinger #1-8, Harbinger #0, Harbinger #9-10
(Optional) Bloodshot #1-9

Then we have the Harbinger Wars crossover which has this order: (bloodshot issues are again optional)
HARBINGER WARS #1
HARBINGER #11
BLOODSHOT #10
HARBINGER WARS #2
HARBINGER #12
BLOODSHOT #11
HARBINGER WARS #3
HARBINGER #13
BLOODSHOT #12
HARBINGER WARS #4
HARBINGER #14
BLOODSHOT #13

Then Harbinger #15-21, Harbinger: Bleeding Monk #0, Harbinger #22-25

then theres a couple of minis and one-shots between volumes, the only essential one is Omegas but I would suggest reading the rest anyway because they're good and show you what happened to the supporting cast

Harbinger Omegas #1-3
Armor Hunters: Harbinger #1-3 (don't worry about reading the whole Armor Hunters event, this mini makes sense on its own)
Harbinger: Faith #0

Then we get a new series called Imperium which is just Imperium #1-16 (theres also an imperium prelude you can read first that is optional)

Then you need to read Book of Death: The Fall of Harbinger for the ending (again, it's self contained and you don't need to read the Book of Death event to understand anything)

and then maybe dig into some other titles, or try the new Renegades series by Rafer Roberts, or wait for Joshua Dysart to start Psi-Lords

i made one a long time ago, over a year out of date now but its probably the easiest thing available pastebin.com/wZ0Teyx8

Wasn't the valiant relaunch supposed to fix this crap and make it easy for new reader to jump in ? It seems even more complicated than dc, marvel or the idw alien universe.

no its pretty easy to read honestly, just look for a series that seems interesting and start at #1 and it will tell you when theres an event or crossover of some kind, they have never done a crossover with more than two ongoings tying in to it so its not very complicated at all. Harbinger is a bit scattered around but it is by far their best story so its worth the effort to read it, but even for Harbinger you can ignore all of the extra stuff and just read #1-25 and get a complete story that makes sense, you just miss out on some other good stories that happened just outside of the main plot.
