My guess is that when the countdown hits you're going to have to check a box or answer some questions or something. That's why Cicada user kept stressing that you need to read the Liber Primus—so you know how to answer the question correctly.
I think people are expecting the timer to hit and then be shown something; they're not expecting to have to interact with it in any active way. Just read the info on the cicadian site- it's a cult of good intentions. From what the test suggested, they wanted hackers who were dedicated, self aware, considerate to the rest of existence, but able to believe with an almost fanatic level that what they are being told to do is "right."
