Brian Griffen hates Religion

Is this the point a lot of people turned on this show?

I officially gave up on the show after that bird is the word episode. The first half is him doing nothing but singing the song over again, to the point where he ends the first half by literally going up to the camera and screaming it at the audience as if it's supposed to make an already unfunny joke even more hilarious. It didn't. And unfortunately dumbasses in real life disagreed since I heard it everywhere after. Then the second half goes into some unrelated plot where Jesus becomes a celebrity in real life and the ego goes to his head ( which strangely isn't out of his character if you read the story about the woman washing his feet with oils from the bible) and then there's tons of cheap All religions are stupid jokes all over the place so Seth can feel good about himself. Officially dropped the show after that and never looked back. All the subtlety and wit from season 1-3 was gone and replaced by screaming and yelling

>bawww I'm oppressed

This is the point where the show devolved into pretentious liberal garbage.

>ego goes to his head which strangely isn't out of his character

You don't even know the full story. She anointed Him in preparation for his crucifixion, which He knew was going to happen but chose to go through anyway. Do you think any of these self-entitled Hollywood snobs, or any pretentious SJW on the left, would submit to such a sacrifice?

You're both brainless meathead socialists and bigots. Your kind is spewing out "christfag" and "bible thumping idiot" and then selfishly crying "waaahhh I'm offended."

>inb4 waaahh I'm not a liberal

You're a lying delusional idiot and should be punched in the head to make up for all the beatings your politically correct family should have given you but didn't.

...

I wish as an atheist I had some better representation than brian. Why has he to be so preachy?

Found the Christian
Go be a fag and project somewhere else.
( Not the same poster either, but I'm sure yo
u'll assume I am)

Because atheists are preachy.

I can literally read your post in Brian's voice which makes me think he's a perfect representation.

I read this post in Stewie's voice.

holy shit, its literally someone from serenity. could you maybe not be such a fucking shitbag for like two minutes? or do you satisfy yourself that someone dying so you can be saved makes it okay for you to be a tramendous faggot?

Hes always been disliked by many people that knew his character beyond 'liberal dog that drinks martinis'

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag
Please strengthen the human race collectively by killing yourself.

yes
and then turned back when they apologized and started acknowledging that brian a shit, instead of shilling him

Not because Brian hates religion but because he became an insufferable mouth piece like Lisa Simpson to strawman political views.

So you started to hate family guy when it become just like any Monty Python sketch?

Dragging out an unfunny joke for over 10min, repeating the same stuff over and over again.

Family Guy is still pretty funny, but that's about it.

Have you considered that you only know preachy atheists because you wouldn't know if someone was one otherwise? They don't typically. gather to be preached to once a week. They don't wear crosses. I guarantee that you know at least one person who is atheist but have no idea they are an atheist.

You mean by pulling publicity stunts like "killing him" to make him more sympathetic? That seems less apologetic and more "please love Brian!"

Preach!

Maybe that's ideal. Having beliefs and not bludgeoning people with them. Too many atheists are militant about it. And I wager those same people hate being preached to themselves.

Yeah they do, their the fags who where the Christian fish symbol, but with legs. If you think that some atheists don't advertise their atheism, then go outside and look at people for one once in your life.

>Too many

When's the last time you heard of someone being preached for being an ideal athiest or an ideal muslim or whatever?
People only pay attention to the loud so we can ignore them or avoid them. Same as all life, like Sonic fans or something. I could've passed a hundred different asperger tier fan-fiction writers but if I don't ask them about it I don't even notice their existence.

Do you honestly believe atheists don't offer their opinions so long as they aren't asked? That's terribly naive.

i have always hated family guy but this scene was so fucking heavy handed. when was the last christian book burning that happened really. they really just kinda pulled this scene out of there ass. like they needed meg to do something bad so that brian could say something like " you stupid religious retard look what your religion is making you do" and she would say "oh b-but muh god" and then they get brian to give meg the old theodicy problem and just have her give up right then and there triumphed by Brians superior intellect. there are three major problems with this. one i am not sure about but wasn't brian still painted as a pseudo-intellectual faggot at this point. they do this a lot where they cycle between brian being the smartest guy in the room and then being a dumbass who pretends to be smart, they need to make up there mind on this because otherwise whenever he does something smart we will think he is faking it and his message is actually stupid or when he does something stupid we will think they opposite. the second problem is meg just fucking gives up right then and there, it shows they didn't really take a lot of time to think up a solution and just wanted brian to seem like the enlightened hero so rather than have meg argue with him they just made her quit. the third problem is the fucking worst one thou it is the one that makes brian irredeemable rather than just having this just be a bad episode. it is that and correct me if i am wrong here but it seems like seth mcfarlene wanted everyone to sit back in awe at the argument brian made, like everyone who heard that was supposed to go "wait a minute bad things happen in a world i believe to be governed by god" like everyone and there uncle hasn't heard this problem before. like this isn't the oldest problem in the history of religious philosophy. and again we get to the whole is brian supposed to be the dumb ass here for stating the obvious or is he the voice of reason again.

Someone should make a "Monty Python sucks" thread. Would that be allowed on Sup Forums, since it uses animated segments?

alright alright break it up no need for this here

Atheists are one of the most least likely groups to talk to you about their beliefs (or lack thereof). Check yourself before you meme yourself, next time.

pewforum.org/2016/04/12/highly-religious-people-not-distinctive-in-all-aspects-of-everyday-life/pf_2016-04-12_everydayreligion-01-03/

Horse-fucking-shit. Every atheist fresh out of highschool has a huge chip on their shoulder and makes sure the WORLD knows how dumb they think religion is. And a lot of them never seem to outgrow it.

He's pretty much a dog acting like a human adult to get attention. Keep in mind that most episodes indicate that Brian's not as smart as he makes himself out to be.

alright look this is a family guy thread about a bad episode they made. you don't have to leave the thread but you gotta stop this

youtube.com/watch?v=tVFp8KTEw-k

I'll be honest, I see this as another ploy for sympathy. Brian deserves everything that is said here, but I'd wager he spends the rest of the episode getting pity-points.

Also, Quagmire being the one to say it really dulls the blade.

>one of the most least likely groups

youtu.be/TSkjRAo_md0

Better? Shitty quality, but you get the idea.

>a poll by one of the most renowned pollster organizations in the world is wrong because I have anecdotal evidence

And people wonder why Sup Forums has turned to shit.

Seems to be, yeah.

A poll is anecdotal evidence.

Alright, that's a little more cathartic.

you're proselytizing about your euphoria here, so you're disproving yourself

what part of break it up don't you two faggots understand.you are both being preachy cunts right now. either stop arguing about religion or leave the thread

You don't actually know what polling is, do you?

favorite line recently
>how do you not believe in Jesus? You literally met him.
Brian is terrible
The best recent episode was the American literature one where they just had Brian as a character to kill.

i'm neither of them, i'm just pointing out a typo and posting shitty homestuck reaction images

Do you know what the fallacy of sample size is? A poll is not 100% accurate. It is dubious at best, dependent on the exact participants.

Obviously a poll is 100% correct, but it's based on evidence. Saying your own personal experience is more valuable than that is objectively false.

Quit using big words they confuse you.

*isn't

Feel free to point out the ones I'm using incorrectly.

I feel at that point the show was officially just a huge straw man mouth piece that basically lead to the world we live in today where a whole group of people just call the other side names as well as stupid will make them go away(it doesn't).
Also what makes this so cringe inducing is that Brian's counter argument to Meg isn't aiming at why destroying knowledge is wrong and something the followers of Christ actually wrote against such actions but he aims at some of the most broken chain of logic
>God isn't real because you are not hot by social standards
>God isn't real because your family is bad
and that's it, all it takes to make her shake God is that, Brian's logic is just as broken as those radical book burners. Then to answer Meg it's one of the most half assed answers that it's basically "the lord works in mysterious ways" with lord changed to universe.
I don't care if one thinks they are "right" I care when they won't engage real debate and just sit there going "No U"

Encounters with real people that I've had (and continue to have) is more compelling to me than a poll. Granted it means less to you. Just because the average American doesn't see the obnoxious militant atheists as the most insufferable doesn't mean they aren't at all. Nor does a percentage mean anything to someone who has seen it first hand.

Alright, then you're objectively wrong. I'm really not sure what to say to you at this point.

You'd know what to say if I actually were.

>atheists aren't preachy

I read it in Peter's voice. Then for some reason I had a spastic episode where I saw Mcfarland in a dog costume burning down a Catholic school, then turning to the camera to say a one liner.

"Actually were"? Actually we're what? Retarded? Then you're right, I would know what to say, and that's to stop posting.

Nobody gives a fuck about Brian being an atheist, even a militant one, it's a part of his character that sets up jokes and funny situations. That episode gets hate because it's just a rant against Christianity with no punchline.

>pewforum.org
>conducted in less then a month
>in a single city area

Seems I touched a nerve. Nobody likes to believe that the group the are vocally a part of can do wrong. But I'm sorry, you can be just as much of an insufferable cunt as everyone else. In fact, you're beginning to prove it.

this is the same "argument" militant feminists make when disparaging men.

>argh when I was in college all the men I met were pigs and evil and rapist. Ergo all men are pigs and rapist!

No one gives a fuck about your shitty life and the shitty people you meet. You're just 1 asshole among hundreds of millions of them in 1 single country out of thousands. So no, I agree with the user with the stats to back his opinion up over your life experiences.

Really, early on. When I noticed the jokes repeating and the increasing dislikability of any/all of the characters.

Mostly however I hated the strawman liberalism.

>Granted, I am a Christian, but I also equally hate "Gods not Dead", the polar opposite of this where the strawman were athiests/non-christians.

The show sucks.

American Dad? Pretty good.

user, you're the one who's primary citation is their word. Of all the insufferable cunts in the world, you should be the last one to talk.

Even considering this?

That study doesn't even give the sample size of each group. Atheist could have been 2% of the poll. Also Religious Landscape study doesn't poll outside of heavily religious areas so those numbers might reflect more of them having fear sharing this rather than an actual indifference.
In short, nigga you dumb.

Please someone post that Dilbert webm from the 90s show about statistics and facts. This thread needs it.

It's a pretty safe statement that I've made. "Are many militant atheists able to be insufferable?" If you said anything other than yes, you have a lot steeper of an uphill battle awaiting you than I would.

One guy enters with a poll and suddenly it's an invalid statement? I never even claimed they were the ABSOLUTE worst.

>Encounters with real people that I've had (and continue to have) is more compelling to me than a poll.

>Atheists could have been 2% of the poll

Atheists are 2% of the population, so that's be fairly accurate.

I know you're struggling to poke holes in the argument, but isn't that a pretty reasonable thing to think?

The Nazis wearing "McCain-Palin" buttons was where I really felt turned off to the show.

No, it's a ridiculous thing to think.

>I trust random polls over my own life experiences
K

Another flaw in this study (Or rather how the user is using it) is we are never shared how the question was ask and it just states "% of each group who talk about religion at least once or twice a month" It's such a messy loaded gun because it almost like the question ask was "did you campaign to save/teach people this last month?" In a such a frame people whose views are not seen as religious would likely never answer that. Also this becomes a question of memory, some people forget what they talk about last week, hell I challenge most here couldn't tell you what threads they posted in a week ago. So when asking them this level of question I could see only those that campaign their faith would top out while those that don't need to save anyone would bottom out.

to be fair after this last election I could see why people would think that

My life experiences contradict yours, therefore you're wrong. QED.

I quit way before that. I can't say what episode, but it was when I realized every single "joke" was either re-enacting other things, reusing a better version of an earlier joke, or given obnoxiously pushed opinions when I don't give a shit about a comedy writer's political, religious, or other beliefs.

Also, I don't believe in any religion, but the way religion is presented in FG is fucking stupid. There's a difference between believing in something and being extreme in it.

>There's a difference between believing in something and being extreme in it.

Depends who you ask.

I believe you have motivation to lie to me now. But alright.

If only there was some kind of impartial source we could refer to.

There is! A poll that barely accounts for a single metro area! Nothing can go wrong!

People who live in rural areas should be sterilized by drugs in the water.

Every thread mentioning religion proves it. They can't even form a coherent thought.

He's a leftist caricature, you're supposed to laugh at him in the same way you laugh at Stewie for being a gay caricature.

>One guy reads the Bible, and simply uses its guidelines in an attempt to better himself
>The other burns books because no one can believe or do anything that he thinks is wrong

No, not really.

My issue with the us religious landscape study group is they never give you the hard numbers. Just "we survey over 35,000 people every year" (which is under 1% of the whole damn country) So it's the equivalent of saying "My neighbors are like this ergo the world is"

For starters liberal doesn't mean atheist and conservative doesn't mean religious. Secondly the winner take all approach doesn't break down how all the states really are. Example New York and Oregon are conservative as fuck out side their super cities(NYC and Portland) but in graphs and polls one would think they are magically all liberal when the truth is they are red as fuck as a whole (fun facts Oregon is one of the most religious states in the country and very heavily armed due to such lax as fuck gun laws)

>Is this the point a lot of people turned on this show?
No
Of course not
It was way earlier than that, you stupid cunt

I don't even have a cunt, so cunt is a meaningless insult.

I lost my faith right out of high school (certainly not my choice, I was much happier before) and absolutely nobody knows about it.

Except anons on the web, of course.

That's when a man puts his hoo hoo dilly into a woman's cha cha.

Not to speak in favor of the fanatical nature of the religious, or non-religious for that matter, but the people who tend to be the loudest about telling other people what to believe and how to believe it, are the same ones who can't even run their own lives.

Look at Brian, he's an unemployed mooch who drinks and smokes weed all day and uses every sleazy tactic at his disposal to hump and dump any woman dumb enough to fall for it. Sounds like a pretty sweet life except for the fact that nobody respects him, he has no real talent, and his life is only sustained by the fact that his best friend and innkeeper is a literal retard.

I know it's only a cartoon, but seriously, I've known a few people who are preachy and condescending and they're either broke or couldn't finish school or the only reason they aren't under a bridge is from relying on someone else.

Damn, I just realized I should get a job

>just Christianity
>nothing on Islam

Very brave

Islam wasn't in fashion when the episode came out.

this is some low level shitposting, even for you, Seth.

>Keep in mind that most episodes indicate that Brian's not as smart as he makes himself out to be.

So like a typical leftist, who thinks he's an intellectual because he drinks Fair Trade coffee from a country he can't locate on a map.

Better than ol' Cletus who thinks he has the world figured out because he hates Blacks and chooses not to go to colle- whoops I mean liberal brainwashing camps.

I can't think of any examples at the moment, but the show had those kind of moments with Brian a lot.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, you're both dreadful. Now behave.

I guess I can see why so many Trump voters hate atheists. It's hard to deal with an individual of at least average intelligence when you're constantly getting your face rubbed in the fact that you're so incredibly, self-destructively stupid.

shit ass soapbox like Lisa

Man, Mississippi's kind of a shit hole.
