Raven is established to be ridiculously powerful, and Yang has been established to be incredibly weak in comparison to most big threats. If Yang even lays a finger on her it'd be such a stupid deus ex machina it would ruin the entire arc.

What if Grimm Pyrrha was on a mission with one of Salem's minions and she ran into team RNJR. However when they began their attack on them GP fought off everything that was attacking Jaune so she could fight him herself.
The only times Yang was weak against a threat were when she fought Neo in a situation where Yang couldn't use her greatest strength and was faced with an opponent tailored to beating brawlers like Yang, and when she fought Adam, who only won on account of his bullshit semblance being fueled earlier when he was fighting Blake. If she hadn't shot Blush, his Moonslice wouldn't have worked
Qrow didn't explain it because Ruby didn't need to know what has happening. There is zero doubt in my mind that the ideal scenario for Qrow would be for Ruby to defeat Salem and never once learn the truth about magic and the Ozpin Conspiracy. For whatever reason, he truly believes in it, and part of it is keeping people like Ruby in the dark
As much as I want Pyrrha to return as a Grimm, I've thought about her soul being inside Ruby. Her soul could be extracted by the machine and put into a robot body similar to Penny's.
It would be interesting to see how she would cope with having a robot body, no longer needing to sleep, eat, or drink.
But it would also be interesting see her trying to live with her friends as a "purified" Grimm hybrid.
Personally I prefer her to come back as a Grimm, but a robot would be good too.

There is definitely one in Atlas, because Penny was made there. It was implied Penny was given her Aura via that machine. There might even be one in Haven. That would be convenient to save Ruby a trip to Atlas.

There's still no way that Yang is even close to beating Raven. Raven has better weapons, four years of Beacon training, as well as at the very least 16 years of living out god knows where, leading a tribe of murderers and killers.
