It is in a way, your leaving the children to being dominated by the mothers' perspective but that doesn't mean you are not around to be a male figure that child needs. Met him when he came to my uni to speak, I was responsible for meeting him at the station/ bringing him to the uni so we spoke for a good 25 minutes. Most of what we talked about was the Russian annexation of Crimea because that had just happened. He also mentioned his burgeoning interest in birdwatching, and that he was interested in seeing a local spot where puffins congregate. Knew an older guy who married a single mother with 4 (four) kids. She stopped working when they married (to be a housewife lol) and then she divorced him the same year her youngest child graduated high school and went off to college. Mom had also started going back to school a few years prior and finished her degree/got a job right at the time of divorce too. Precise planning/execution on her part. It was the most obvious case of "beta bux" I've ever seen.
I've known of a few other cases of single mom marriages that aren't quite as textbook as this but they are all similar in that things start to go to shit between spouses once her children start graduating high school. The defining feature of these cases might be that the husbands never got their own child out of the single mom so that could be a game changer.

The situation now is that he's 11 and we've managed to both be 100% reliable for him while avoiding each other as much as possible.
