Hasn’t history proven that Marx’s vision of an egalitarian utopia is unattainable, inevitably creating an oligarchy more oppressive to the proletariat than the bourgeoisie it vilifies?

Yeah pretty much.

is that pic related somehow?
because otherwise this is a straight up his thread and doesnt really belong here

Im regular stormy.

UH OH

Increasingly, America is a bastion of conservatism in the world. The reasons are complicated. My sense has always been that people get conservative when they get nervous. When people get that nervousness, the human tendency is to clamp down. You see it today in religion. You see it in media and in art.

What if I called you "White Stormy?"

>more opressive

you're wrong about that part.

Im bizarro stormy.

i think the idea is to conserve progress so people dont slip into reactionary thought

I know this is all a joke but: its more likely that kids are just rebelling against their liberal parents by becoming more conservative, and closeted racists are coming out now that Trump is taking power.

Hey, do you like rap?

Pretty much. That's why Marxism had to be reworked into Leninism and Stalinism, and those both still failed. There's a reason the end of the Cold War is referred to as "The End of History".

>You see it in media and in art.
Those are conservative?

For the most part, yes.

Watch Sealab 2021 you fuck

Trump didn't win the youth vote. In fact the majority of young people just stayed home and didn't vote.

Fiiiiig nuuuuuuts!

so you're saying... communism is bad?

Yes, basically.
You can take elements of socialism and make them work, but it's impossible to truly completely eliminate greed and selfishnsss from human behavior as it is quite likely biologically a part of our species based on our origins.
Pure socialism requires total elimination of these things, and thus is a totally unattainable dream.

Are you from another dimension where the majority of artists are conservative instead of liberal?

>all these people not getting the joke or actively ignoring it to signal their political ideology
Fuck off Sup Forums
Fuck off newfags

I don't think you understand how finance works

Most kids today haven't even watched any of old adult swim.

Makes sense considering all the polls showed Hillary was supposed to win at 98%.

Nobody shucks my corn but meeeeeeeeee

Yep. Trump didn't win the election as much as Hilary lost it.

I have to pee!

Jews
They are both capitalists and communists

You're a real doctor?
I thought that was just a nickname, like Dr.Dre.

you mean there's a black stormy?

I feel cleansed.

FUCK OFF AND DIE

Under Martian Law doctors and other wizards are forbidden!

>inevitably creating an oligarchy more oppressive to the proletariat than the bourgeoisie it vilifies?
This was inevitable no matter what.

The USSR collapsed yet we speed towards an oligarchy in the west as income disparity grows rapidly and the working classes are outsourced or automated.

Neoliberalism was a mistake. Keynes was right in 1944: International capital must be shackled, or it will inevitably shackle us instead.

>americunts pretending to know about history or politics

It's not easy seeing history when you're in the center of it.

Och the heathens!

Artists can be liberal personally yet unintentionally express deeply conservative messages in their media.

This is particularly apparent in US made movies, which may appear to show a pan-humanist message of caring, but in reality just reheat the neoconservative agenda of "humanitarian interventionism" against despotic regimes that just coincidentally happen to be outside the US sphere-of-influence (Also, we can't do anything to Saudi Arabia, ask no questions about why we can't give the Saud family the Romanov treatment for their crimes. We can't. Look at Syria and ask no further questions about our honourable and civilzied Saudi Allies.)

They want to belong

This is the thread. This is the one to let the mods know who to perma-ban.
Not that they will, since Sup Forums doesn't seem to have mods anymore, but if it did, this would be a pretty good thread to start moderating.

Grow a skin and join the conversation like an adult, or go away.

If interventionism is a neoconservative agenda, why did most Democrats vote in favor of Iraq and Afghanistan?

It's no surprise the wealth keeps accumulating at the top when the coin keeps losing it's buying power, the real wealth has always been in assets and goods and when you take out the money you realize just how poor you've always been.

Not being American, I can't tell you that. My feeling would be something to do with Bill Clinton (who was politically speaking a cunt, just like Blair selling the left downriver and adopting republican policies.) being successful in Kosovo in the end, combined with Democrats not really being all that different from the republicans internationally speaking (See: Libya, Syria.) and following along those sort of consensus "Iraq bad" lines without considering that just because it was easy in 1992 it might not be easy again.

At least in the case of Britain's Tony Blair (Labour, i.e. ""left"" though like Clinton he wasn't really.), it was a mixture of:
1. Wanting to Break with Labour's traditional scepticism of the USA. (In the 80s flirting with unilateral nuclear disarmament and expelling US forces from the UK.)
2. A misguided sense that it would all be fine, like in Kosovo, and they'd be regarded as heroes and it'd all be okay. (Kosovo is to this day the only part of the world that remembers Blair positively.)
3. Depending on your sources, taking the total wrong message from the Falklands War (which totally altered the view of Thatcher, taking her from the lowest level of her popularity before to the highest after.) since he was campaigning in a by-election during the war. Some say Blair took "Win war = Popular" as the message instead of "Win defensive war = popular"

Though Blair could be described as an outright neocon in terms of international outlook anyway (including buying into American exceptionalism) so he's not a good analogy to draw.
But had John Smith not died in 1994 and been replaced by Blair, Britain would be a much better place today.

maybe it's a karma? maybe it's finally a time for britain to suck balls. when other countries suffered, britain was doing well. not it must be the other way.

You could be a robot... tiger.

Right but see that's the thing, this is supposed to be a fuckin' Sea Lab thread, and here you people are talking about communism and why America is so dumb.
You have a board for that already, and this isn't it. What are you even doing on Sup Forums when it seems like comics and cartoons are about the last thing you wanna talk about?
You're telling me to go away, but it seems like you're the one who doesn't belong here.

snitchin' is bitchin'

He killed for your sins!

Britain is dead.
It doesn't matter whether we blame Thatcher or Major or Blair, it's dead.
The 1970s were shit mostly due to international circumstances, but they were Britain. Whenever the shot was fired after that isn't relevant: it hit.

>Britain is dead.
It had to happen sooner or later, yo?

However, there is still hope, there is.

In one country, country that people don't treat seriously. There is an old, napolean prophecy, that this irrelevant country will unite europe. I'm babbling, you see, but it's true, I swear.

And mark my words, dear. Surprises galore for 2017

the thing about the Clinton's escapades in the middle east is that they're far more blatant in how they're just protecting personal, individual economic interests instead of the nations' whole. They aren't conservative because ideology has very little to do here.

The Syrian war has been gestating for a decade prior to the actual boiling point in 2012. Syria had the social tensions from a HUGE ECOLOGICAL DISASTER that was sweeping the country and taking all the poor rural people who couldn't grow crops anymore to the cities to protest as far back as 2003. So it's not like the conflict was entirely germinated by the CIA or something.

Now, Anyone could see that Syria was weak and it could topple with a little bit of push, and there were several reasons foreign powers wanted to give that push. One of them was because they were the wrong kind of Muslim(not to mention having a pretty significant Christian cult), but also because they were friends with Russia, and Russia produces oil and gas. Russia getting back on it's feet after the 90's was bad for other producers, because they already took over a lot of the European market, and if they could ship directly to the mediterranean, it would mean the end for gulf states, and all their western investors.

Russia wanted to build a pipeline, and the only way to stop them was to set the entire place on fire.

Take that, subspace!

>They aren't conservative
Neither is neoconservatism.
I'm not just making a lazy attack on conservatism (indeed, small-c conservatism contains much to agree with in terms of opposition to present economic dogma.), it's just the name of the thing.
>So it's not like the conflict was entirely germinated by the CIA or something.
Germinated perhaps not, prolonged by western aid? Perhaps.

>Now, Anyone could see that Syria was weak and it could topple with a little bit of push
My first thought is how they said the USSR was like an old barn that would collapse if you kicked the door in. In 1941.
I don't doubt overriding cynical economic interests take precedent (Like I said: Ask no reasons as to why Saudi Arabia get away with whatever the hell they want even though we're supposed to be getting rid of all the mean dictators.) but it all sort of mangles together into a continuity with neoconservative agenda in the past. You can always make a distinction in implementation - of course - but the similarities are extant.

Let's see what Trump does. (The UK, of course, had an interesting bump in the road when our initial involvement in Syria was voted down.)

fucking pod 6

Pod 6 is jerks.

Trump's platform hinges on economic protectionism and isolationism, it'll be quite a change from the current trend, come what may.

My nipples are hard just thinking about it.

BIZZARO I LOVE YOU BIZZARO!

We probably can just leave these by the door. Quinn's going to be busy with this Sup Forums thread for a while.

The other day, my neighbor brought over a 3 gallon bucket of Margarita, and about a half gallon of Pina Colada.

My first thought was "It's an Alvistide miracle!"

Alvis was the holiest man to ever slap iron!

ok

NOBODY SHUCKS MY CORN BUT MEEEEEEEEE!

"Vengeance is mine," quoth Alvis.
Then he shot that guy right in the freaking face!

Shut the fuck up, Boco. Even in the midst of a Sup Forums invasion, you're still the worst part of any thread.

>Surprised that so many people here are taking the thread seriously, despite it popping up periodically for years.
>Remember that Sup Forums's seen a recent influx of traffic from the election season and that the last episode of Sealab 2021 aired almost 12 years ago.

This fucking election is the worst thing to happen to Sup Forums since the Newfag Deluge of 2010

All these fucking r/The_Donald normies make me wanna vomit

I'd say the "endless summer" of 2007-2009 was worse, but the influx of new posters has been pretty notable lately.

The problem is the humans
You have to kill the humans

I foresee that someday, we will create a new race, that will be better than us, which will replace humanity.

WHAT'S UP, SEA MONKEYS?

HESH WANTS SEX!

So the mods are so fucking shit they delete threads about comicbooks and cartoons but can't delete this obvious Sup Forumsshit thread while banning anyone that participated unironically on it.

Fucking hell.

It's okay user

You can find the answer to the question right here: hownew.ru

Too bad

Yes.

>Marxism had to be reworked into Leninism

Of course, fucking Sup Forums posters don't know shit about politics.

Marx never actually prescribed socialism other than in a generic way that most other philosophers of the day did as well. Marxism was just a scientific way of analysing the material conditions of people throughout history, correlating it with civil unrest and revolution, and using that knowledge to critique the current system from a historical perspective.

Marxism doesn't actually say how to form a socialist economic system, its just historical analysis. His work was mainly descriptive, not prescriptive. Lenin took his works, chose the way he thought Marx would most prefer for implementing socialism, and called his ideas Marxism-Leninism, or just Leninism as most people know it today.

Also, take this circlejerk back to Sup Forums, you 12 year old retards.

Farfignewton.

Boy, I sure love comics and cartoons. I remember watching Sealab.

Dude. Your soul, I'm so going to chew on it and floss my teeth with your spirit.

No, get ready for 4 more years of this unless your boy gets impeached.

Dead African child indeed! ...[laughter]...I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It's just so fucking awful...

Away!

How could a giant penis be hurtling toward earth?

it really is impressive how every single time this thread is made it turns into a thread about REAL communism and not a Sealab thread

almost like no one actually knows it's a quote from the show

Oh fuck off, Marx did prescribe that societies would and should eventually abolish relations of private property and class, he saw in his theory a gradual process in human development, and that society 'improved' to perfection as it overcame them.
