Why are people acting like the sex scene was so revolutionary? We literally saw the same scene in Her where it was done better and was creepier.

No, people won't talk about it for years. Also, it was simply overly long and just unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the film like most sex scenes.

This happened in Ghost as well.

What makes it controversial?

Yeah, as much as I like BF2049 I have to agree with this. I got that it was like he was "consummating" his relationship with his virtual gf but it went on for way too long and sort of went nowhere.

Everything about this flick points to this generations Inception

It was different from her, it didn't carry any of the same neck-beardy qualities as the scene in her. Add the fact that he used a physical body for the result, you get a much creepier and much more uncanny love scene.

Because the bloggers are talentless hacks who have to create clickbait in order to receive a paycheck.

I got a boner during that scene, so what?

Because we are very very close to this already. Hell I wouldnt be surprised if people already hired a prostitute and put their VR helmet on so it was like they were fucking their waifu.

it wasnt a standard hollywood sex scene with the actors dryhumping each other X number of times while moaning. you dont even see any sex.

1. the awkwardness of goose going wtf why is she here at first.
2. the trippy af merging of the two girls, their faces switching back and forth.
3. the trippy taking off of both sets of clothes
4. the four hands rubbing the back of his head while they kiss
5. the final scene being joi walking up to him , her shoulders bare

its not a sex scene, so much as a tastefully done, surreal sci fi scene. i fucking loved it.

Did it really bring them closer together though?

idk why everyone is so worked up about that scene, my mate said it was freaky because you could just imagine anybody as the hologram. but thats not that revolutionary an idea, it's like masturbating to someones pictures on the next level. can anyone ezplain why they thought this scene was amazing?

See It's the uncanny valley feeling knowing that that will soon be a reality. That real women will only be needed for physical contact.

I think the performances really sold it for me. You can tell how unsure both K and Joi are about doing this, and the complete indifference of the hooker just made it even more unsettling. In the end I felt like K enjoyed it while Joi hated it but beared it for his sake

why didn't juankeem fuck her?

his AI waifu wanted it, and the qt meat sleeve wanted it even more

I think Inception is this generations Inception.

>We literally saw the same scene in Her where it was done better and was creepier.
I'm thinking no one saw Her.

Another thing I found sorta interesting, this track sounds like it was pulled directly from Ex Machina
youtube.com/watch?v=YYV5Uyk7Qr8

that Her scene was soulless

in Blade Runner was a upgraded and more beautiful version, plus to soundtrack and character development

Her was very mediocre desu

/thread

>that Her scene was soulless
No shit you fucking brainlet. Thats the point

>its not a sex scene, so much as a tastefully done, surreal sci fi scene.

this is the definition of pretentious

Because Her was a fucking train wreck. The best part was when he and Adams slipped to a quiet death off the building during the credits.

I think the concept of overlaying a much more attractive virtual image over a regular woman. It's the same reason that modern sexbots, as bad as they are, generate so much outrage.

it's controversial for WHORES because ai/robot waifus are going to replace them and they can't stand that they can't use their vaginas to manipulate anymore

soon we'll be free lads

nah but your reply is pretentious

>blade runner 2049 is for smart peo-

I can smell the dorito crumbs from your breath from here.

If you like porn, you are a pedophile

anyone comparing Her's and 2049's sex scenes are skimming over the question raised by the movies

>How do you have sex with an AI/VI

Her had an AI with "free will" but no body which is the same as a sex scene between an able-bodied and non able bodied person (paralyzed neck down) "just listen to my voice and pretend its me"

where as 2049 was an emotion outsourcing simulation in the sense that K needed an "illusion" of his preference to deal with his inability to have sex with anyone, joi being a program is what makes it so special because its both real and imaginary

The visual effect of their faces blending in and out was insanely cool

Because someone paid for four years of college to get a journalism degree in the 2010s and desperately needs some way to justify it in a world where everyone with minimal effort can just see the actual event happen live online and don't need to see it filtered through a news source, so they make up highly opinionated pieces and try to deliberately stir up controversy so they can get some kind, any kind of traffic or recognition that justifies their life choices

if I wanted a sex scene I would watch porno

a movie with sex scene I will never bother watching

no one saw "Her"
no one will see "Her"

>tfw the idea of Joi getting closer to K by letting another girl touch him broke my heart because she's going through such lengths, cucking herself just so K can feel love

it doesnt even have a sex scene, the hologram and prostitute sync up and the three kiss, next scene the prostitute get out of bed and puts a tracker in K jacket and gets dressed and gets told to leave

>Samantha cucks Joaquin and leaves him with dumpy old Amy Adams
fuck Her

This, and she was not okay with it. It's almost like a couple using a surrogate mother, or a sperm donor.

its all K, Joi has no agency, if anything
>tfw K has to pretend his imaginary gf is cucking herself just so he can feel loved

Joi is real to him

agreed. not only did she kick the whore out in the coldest fashion, she also had her emanator jingle interrupt the conversation between k and the hooker when they first met. as if she was jelly.

>mfw the morning after she said "I'm done with you" out of spite

yeah, of course but youre not him so in the grander picture its much more complex(using it loosely, contrarians relax) & depressing seeing him having to jump so many hoops just to feel normal

in fact he probably had joi get that prostitute because she knew about Joi making the whole situation a bit easier (not having to explain his "kink")

But the only sex scene was the blurry window sloots getting plowed? Nothing sexual was shown between the 3 people in that photo. At all. I'm confused.

Sounds like a great way to get robbed

Everyone saw her
just because you left Sup Forums last year doesn't mean no one else has seen it

>We literally saw the same scene in Her where it was done better and was creepier.

no
2049 well all the way with the dystopian outlook and the exploration of fantasy, through a protagonist who eats synthetic food, is kept happy by mass produced girlfriend while himself being a synthetic human in a world where humanity is sucking the planet for all its worth in order to live among the stars

Show me anywhere else where a software AI disposes of a synthetic human exactly as a disposable product "I'm done with you" only to herself later be destroyed, a delicate pocket sized technology by, out of all things, another of these synthetic humans

If k really loved jerk off instruction he wouldn't have fucked the hooker. Who wouldn't be content having your dream holo girl friend bob her head up and down phasing through your cock while you stroke it? I was half chub the entire movie thinking about all the crazy fun you could have with jerk off instruction and k selfishly ruined it all.

Ppl ITT ignoring trips of truth because it scares them

i think you should look up the definition of the word pretentious and also the definition of the word definition

tfw you will soon hire a prostitute in order to fuck your holographic 2d waifu

>to deal with his inability to have sex with anyone,
The police chief totally wanted to jump his bones so did Luv but she was a psycho

He just wanted his waifu

It was the emotionally heighten the character and his relationship with his AI gf.
I agree it was long, just like 12 other moments in the film.
But it did serve a purpose.

Don't get what the article is up in arms. The Her scene was first and way weirder. This was just done amazingly due to the blend of cgi that looked great.

Goz really is /ourguy/.

its what im trying to say, he needed the fake hologram to have sex, he liked the prostitute but who knew about Joi making it easier for him to bring joi into the mix with them, something he couldnt do with Joshi & Luv

the her scene is nothing like this because the AI in Her is actually a real person not a Virtual Intelligence that says "what you want to hear"

Why was it controversial?

this is what 2049 does that no sci fi movie has done up to this point, the matrix has its version of artificiality but 2049 does it all with an efficiency unseen in any movie in the most grounded way possible

despite it being sci fi there are barely any fantastic leaps, all of them save flying cars being not so far off from our current technology

disposability of women through the disposability of sex (Mariette) and complete commodification of intimacy(Joi)

ironically, i doubt these people trying to raise 'controversy' are able to actually able of seeing this.

give us sexbots already. You know Japan is hiding them. I want my catgirl

>overly long

If anyhing it was too short for us to see whether it instilled any emotions to K or not.

>haunting

Yeah that is the scariest part about it. Prostitution will no doubt be legal in the next 30-50 years and obviously holograms will be at that point as well. Humanity already rarely interact due to the internet, this idea is terrifying because we won't need partners for anything. Our AI waifus will service us emotionally and intimately, while we can hire prostitutes to service us physically. You put all of that together and its a dark age for humanity as far as procreation and companionship. Ironically only the poor will breed predominantly in this situation and at that point it's very likely that entire class will just be labor driven.

>It didn't add anything to the film like most sex scenes.

>wanting to be around roastie whores

Journalists call things controversial in hopes of making it controversial

I've been using russian paygirls for years and they never caused trouble. You must live in a shitty town.

It was the best makeout/love scene in a movie since the first Spider-Man

YOU JUST KNOW

You do too, you just can't.

>people will be talking about it for years
>people moved on to discussing other aspects of the film literally within 24 hours

...

Wait, what...? There was a sex scene!? It was pretty much just her taking off her clothes and then kissing him. Did I watch some sort of Marvel Disney cut of the movie? I mean yeah, the sex was implied but there was no actual scene of them fucking. Was pretty much a "fade to black" kind of thing.

How can Joilets even compete?

lol
manlets BTFO

Our day will come.

the prostitute was cuter than joi tbqh

which again, just proves how fair the 'misogynist' 'feminist' readings are from the mark

yes these things are horrifying, not because a women are depicted as completely disposable, precisely because the world is a resource farm and absolutely nothing else.

the humans in the film are in the background, living life in a mass overpopulated slum, all clamoring to go 'off world' while synthetic humans are of an even lower class, only there to maintain background functions for the humans all of whom are living in a world made toxic by man's effort to wrench every useable resource out of it.

Who is the only pure woman in the whole movie? deckard's daughter, living in a glass cage, the only place she can guarantee herself a total freedom that is pure and perpetual creativity.

this movie is so fucked which is precisely why i love it the more i think about it

Kek

>"OY VEY NO GOYIM YOU MUST NEVER BE FREE, REMAIN ENSLAVED TO THE STD RIDDLE ROASTY VAGINA THIS INSTANT!!!"

Lies

>It didn't add anything to the film like most sex scenes
4/5, you got replies

>when they finally merged into one being

that was kinda spooky lads

>Why are people acting like X was so revolutionary? We literally saw the same scene in Y where it was done better and was creepier.
click bait
self-aggrandizement
lack of perspective

justifying your life choices as a film journalist

Take your pick

>joi
>everything you want to hear
hmmmm

No. Get ye gone.

>That's it, cum for mommy. You're such a good boy. Oh, look at all that cum! Did that feel good? Yeah? Oh look, you made such a mess all over your hands. Mommy needs you to do one more thi-

...

>he actually said roastie
Holy shit, you're the gift that keeps on giving.

Probably bait, but I'll have a go at it.
It is a crucial turning point in K's relationship with Joi, which overall symbolize's K's internal quest as a replicant to find tangible fulfillment in an artificial existence. Despite Joi wanting to please K by inhabiting a physical body, K can't bring himself to settle for it.

>Being able to discern the type of chip from someone's breath
Stop projecting, fatty.

>Joi has no agency
It's a basic principle of the movies that AI has genuine agency, and that humans refuse to acknowledge it. What are replicants, if not AI?

>arguing with trips
GTFO

Visually, that scene was way better executed than Her's.

But it was still the same fuckin thing. You think they really didn't just rip that off?

Whomst are you quoting?

The point was he was fake, AI girl was fake and hooker girl was fake. But each of them were feeling something.
They are simulations trying to do something real and meaningful with each other, despite limitations.

It's nothing like "Her". People keep forgetting that Goose is a replicant too, and he even rejects offers of sex from real women. It's not the act, its the meaning that's important. It's a visual key for the themes of the movie.

Nice insight. Just got back from the movie, and it's still resonating in my head. Looking forward to realisations like yours popping up over the next few days ...

If you've ever read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", you'll know it resonates it a similar way.

But replicant girl got snarky too. That exchange they had was really interesting.

Yeah, the "Her" connection is way off.

Inverted Satanic Trips = Double Truth.
