What's great about Kamala is that her books don't revolve around Islam at all. It's a part of her life, but it's not the sole reason she makes any decision in life. It's a character trait instead of being her character.

That's why it's good to have that, but bad to have fem-thor being saved because "gurl power" or Miles crying about being targeted by police 24/7 at all hours of the day.

You have to recognize the good when they have it, and shame the bad when you see it. You can't blanket reject everything because it doesn't fit a narrow specification set entirely by the internet. If you did that, nothing would be good.

Funny you mention that because Kamala is based on the young life of the author as she was growing up in a fundie household. That is how she viewed her childhood.

Muslims in Europe aren't going to have the same life that she did, because her parents are extremely rich, migrated legally, and most importantly: live in the United States. So it's not really fair to compare the two.

Lecturing the reader is what the shit writers like Bendis do with her character. Her actual book doesn't really have her lecturing anyone at all. She's typically portrayed as being one of the people who should never have the moral standing to lecture anyone else.

I haven't read Ms Marvel until a few months ago. I've known about the character since her launch, but never seemed interested and thought it was stupid and forced.

I finally gave her a shot and I really enjoy her and she fits so well in the Marvel universe. She is this generations Peter Parker. The islam stuff never really feels forced and more just a part of her life. The only downside to the character is having her getting involved with more Inhuman/Royal Family stuff. I really want to try and like Inhumans, but that shit gets so boring so fast.

The only upshot of Kamala's involvement with the rest of the traditional Inhumans is Lockjaw. That's the only good thing I've seen out of it.
