"I don't like that cartoon you are watching, son""

"Its too violent and/or those characters are dressed too skimpy."

Sincerely, Moms from the 80s and 90s.

I remember the girls in my class not being able to watch Pokémon because it was violent.

I was losing my MIND seeing Laura for the first time around then

Glad my mom didn't care what was on the TV

I remember my mother not letting me watch king of the hill as quite a young child. To this day I don't know why.

Did she not care about you too user?

>implying there are violent cartoons any more
>implying there are cartoons with skimpily dressed characters any more
In a roundabout way, soccer moms won.

My mom was chill, but I remember one time when I was a kid. I loved movies and and my older cousins were watching SCREAM 2 on TV. When Timothy Olyphant's character claims he'll blame the movies for all the people he's killed, my aunt turns to me and says I could end up like him if I kept watching so many movies.

RWBY is technically a cartoon.

"lord Zedd is too scary, I demand you tone it down, Saban"

- Concerned Parents.

My Mom didn't really approve of the cartoons I watched, but she didn't stop me from watching them. Most of the time she just told me they were for morons.

RWBY is also dogshit, the retards who like it really need to be kicked off of the board already.
Nobody likes them

yeah, sure

faggot

My mother never let me watch Ramma 1/2 and when I was younger my sister told my mother that Pokemon was too violent so she could change the channel and watch Sailor Moon, I took revenge on her by using the "It a woman turning into a man" for going to another movie instead of watching Mulan... it was not worth it.

I grew up with four older brothers, my parents just didn't give a fuck any more when I was born. Dinner in front of the TV was pretty common and I was a sneaky little shit so I easily managed to do shit like watch all the porn stuff after midnight. One of my brothers also hid porn mags in his room, which were damned easy to find every time I scavenged his room for snack containers. (Guy always took entire chips bags and stuff to his room.) Cartoons too violent or sexual? Nah, my brothers already pulled so much shit that my mother just wasn't phased by anything I did or saw.

Hell, we used to watch sitcoms like Married With Children and Roseanne all the time so I'm pretty sure I've seen it all when I was 12.

admit it, you have not watched a single cartoon since the 90s

It's like a nesting doll of blame. That's hilarious.

"Me paying for another season of Zyuranger is too expensive, I demand you shut it down, Toei"
- Concerned Haim Saban.

>another season of Zyuranger
You know Sentai shows never get multiple seasons, right?

Mom's didn't actually dress like Peggy Bundy you idiot

>those characters are dressed too skimpy
They learned it from you!

t. Rorschach

Moms like Peg Bundy did, you idiot. Do you think the just made up her character out of thin air?

Shut up, woman.

My parents let me watch King of the Hill and The Simpsons, for whatever reason banned Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy.

I'd peg the Peg

I want to get pegged by Peg.

I used to think her hair was real.

I went to after-school care at a methodist church with a girl who's parents wouldn't let her watch rugrats because it would "give her ideas"

I'm not saying this happened DURING the 90s, but the last cartoon I watched that had violence and skimpy clothing was The Clone Wars, of all things.

Everything now just seems very "safe" in terms of both action not being particularly violent and refusal to recognise the existence of the female figure or breasts any bigger than a B-cup.

what to breed?

If Katey Sagal knew the things I'd want to do with her body she'd probably either be really flattered or disgusted.

Yes, yes, well done moms. HOWEVER

What's Rugrats? I'm east Yurop, btw

She'd probably just make a clever wisecrack about how small and inadequate your dick is, followed by a laugh track.

>Dad put a childlock on the cartoon channels when I was 5 or 6 because he thought I watched too many cartoons and didn't read enough and that I would end up being stupid as a result
>Mum told me what the code was so I could watch them anyway

Thanks mum, I probably would have missed all of Dexter's Labortatory and a lot of other shit if it wasn't for you.

Just had to take the fun out of it, didn't you?

...

Cartoon about babies made by East Yurop people for Nickelodeon

My parents were conspiracy theorists who thought TV, comics, movies, and video games were used a brainwashing tools for the Illuminati to turn me into a satanist.

I remember my eyes almost popped out of my head the first time this came on. I was like YOOO!

To be fair, look where you're at now.

So your parents probably voted for Trump

Saban commissioned new footage with the same suits for the main characters, and then dumped a chunk of it to awkwardly cram stuff from Toei's next show into the following season of Power Rangers. It still worked, and no one watching gave a shit, but if they're going to go to all that trouble, Saban should have just asked Toei to make a sequel.

I know, somebody stop me. Next thing you know all be smoking that wacky tabaccy and clubbing and sacrificing the blood of virgins to our dark lord.

>It's too violent
Well, yeah, Dio is sick and so is Kira. Diavolo isn't that much better.
>Skimpy
Eh, besides Pillar men? Not much of a point.

>our dark lord
You mean Kek?

>characters dressed to skimpy
says the woman who slept with your highschool friend

>Octis was programmed to know what the cues are when a woman flaunts her sexuality in order to coerce a man to do her bidding

These questions need answers FINISH THE FUCKING SERIES GENDO I CANTS TAKES NO MORES haven't fucking slept in 6 years

I remember watching Tales from the Crypt with my parents when I was 5. Not the cartoon.

Censorship was not a thing in our household.

Well television shows are used to push an agenda but satanism is only one of many goals. At first it was gays and look at what happened.

My parents banned EEnE and TPPG. My cousins weren't allowed to watch The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy or Spongebob.

Silly user, Trump only came to power because of the Illuminati.

*audience goes "oooooooo"*

To be fair, Rugrats isn't the best show when it comes to grammar.

My niece couldn't watch Pokémon because her mom was super religious or something. But my mom would let her watch Pokémon when she was at our house anyway.

Anybody else have parents who didn't let their kids watch Pokémon for religious reasons? If only parents did actual research on shows or watched it with their kids.

Wow, it was the exact opposite in our house.

To be honest I was kinda amazed they didn't raise a stink about EEnE for being "too ugly" or for having "bad role models". The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy was another show we slipped past their radar simply by calling it "Billy & Mandy".

But they were pretty strict about everything else, especially when I was younger... I distinctly remember not being allowed to watch MMPR when it was new, until ironically it was AFTER Lord Zedd was introduced that they decided I was "old enough", so seeing him for the first time is one of my formative memories. I WASN'T allowed to watch Big Bad Beetleborgs however, because the Hillhurst monsters and the fact that the Magnavores lived in a cemetery were too "demonic", but that just made me more determined to watch it and gave it an edge it didn't actually have.

I also distinctly remember my mom happening on Beast Wars for all of 5 seconds while channel surfing and summarily banning it. That was another rule I didn't really follow.

Also, we were super-into the Pokemon anime like every other kids in America when our mom stumbled upon a religious-right crazy fucknuts website preaching about how it was a Satanic Jap plot to brainwash our precious gaijin children. That was the worst, but it also sucked cuz they applied that shit to all -mon type anime. And Digimon was the biggest loss there because it was the one that was actually good, and you COULD technically argue it's pure sci-fi, but then like every other Big Bad was clearly designed to be Satanic, right down to invoking the Mark of the Beast. Or the whole Bakemon church episode. So basically, we'd just watch the banned shows we really wanted to with one kid on channel duty and another kid on lookout, and knowing we weren't supposed to watch them just made them that much cooler.

my parents let me watch whatever cartoon i wanted. started south park with my dad when i was 8. my grandparents didnt though. i rented spawn (HBO animated series) one time and my grandma turned it off immediately.

Hi Mr. Icke. Big fan, btw.

Old-fagging here but I remember my parents banned me from watching The Simpsons simply cause Bart said the words "Hell" or "Damn."

As a 3, 4, 5 year old I couldn't watch Smurfs or Care Bears because they were "SATANIC!" bu using magic and subverting Christ.

My mom chilled out by the time I was in my late teens/early 20s and totally feels bad about how crazy heavy religious she got during that period of her life

My best friend's parents literally burned all his Pokemon stuff.

My parents were extremely religious but they let me watch pretty much any kids show. They were strict about nothing with cussing or nudity but that basically applied to movies obviously. When I was really little there were some shows my mom wouldn't let me watch when I was really little because she thought they would give me nightmares and she was probably right. It was never because they were 'satanic' though.

That didn't really bother mine but that time Homer said "bastard!" was a bit much for them.

>all these christfag parents
I didn't realize this was so common. Sometimes I forget how much of traffic here is American.

Same. When I was 8 I had a friend sleep over and we watched the South Park episode where Jimmy fucks a hooker.

Eh, my parents didn't let me watch the Simpsons, but it was for a good reason
Bart was an intolerable little cunt that should have died a long time ago.
They also didn't want me watching Animaniacs (they also had good reasons) If I had been 10 or 12 when it came out they might have been okay with it.

Weirdly, I remember Animaniacs & especially Pinky & The Brain being the only cartoons my mom actually liked watching with me as a kid. I guess cuz they were the last big Baby Boomer nostalgia-driven cartoons. I wouldn't have gotten half the references without her.

You can definitely tell from watching this that Big Genndy is an Ass Man

mine too. god, she hates me

he he. I'm fucking watching the season 10 right now

>tfw I got away with watching stuff like Roughneck Chronicles and Spawn as a kid because my Dad was cool and my Mum let me watch worse.
Feels awkward, man.

Those are things Peg would never say.

The funny thing about Bart is that he actually got worse as the years went on instead of being toned down. He was remorseful for his actions when it had bad consequences for other people and actually had a shred of respectability for Homer in the early seasons. Just like everybody else the show made their worst traits magnified as the years went on so I can see parents not wanting their kids exposed to 'golden years' Bart.

As a kid who grew up in the late 80's I can tell you this is false. Mom's generally didn't care what we watched. My dad openly let us watch shit like Robocop and Nightmare on Elmstreet. Kids weren't as sheltered as today's kids.

Fangbone is a cartoon currently airing

It frequently features monsters being dismembered, decapitated, or chopped to bits

Same, my mom hated how the characters were mean.

>Mother is extreme fundemental christian
>Forbids me from watching X-men TAS and the first X-men movie because its too violent
>Sunday school starts talking about the crusades

This. She was a shitty mom. That was the whole point of the show.

>parents used to swear like sailors
>swore once in school and got in trouble
>banned from watching the simpsons because they inexplicably blamed it for teaching me to swear.

violence is OK if it is in the name of our good lord Jesus Christ tho

>Everything now just seems very "safe" in terms of both action not being particularly violent and refusal to recognise the existence of the female figure or breasts any bigger than a B-cup.

Parents have cottoned onto the big tits thing, so instead the new thing is to give every woman a massive ass because normies- especially women and moms- haven't figured out how sexual it is yet. For instance, when I watched the pre-moana short in a theater filled with 18+ college students, I overheard a girl complaining that the woman was ugly and her brave boyfriend trying to explain the concept of 'thicc' to her.

typical American parents

>Parents didn't let me watch the X-Men cartoon
>Let me watch Showgirls and Event Horizon

Standards were...inconsistent, to say the least.

Kids would read more books if they were allowed to pick the stories they want instead of the schools forcing them to read and analyze stories that the teacher likes.

that man is a hero to us all

also, women have shit taste

you can tell that from his other series as well

My mom didn't let me watch CN as a kid. She would either remove the channel or skip it when we scanned the cable frequencies.

Women are just naturally jealous of other women who have bigger bust or butts than them.

>center of 2000's
>Like Ed Edd n Eddy
>Talk about a lot
>Everyone responds with "My parents won't let me watch it"
>Talk about any other CN cartoon
>"My parents won't let me watch it"
It was like there was some kind of dumb adult conspiracy or something

The natural enemy of women has been, is, and will always be women. Feminism is pointing the gun at the wrong sex.

2000s was the Bush era
War on terror and all that shit

they probably thought watching cartoons would turn you into terrorists or something

Curious how that sort of discourse used to come out of old people instead of the young.

>and her brave boyfriend trying to explain the concept of 'thicc' to her.
sounds like a total sperg tbqh

>having big tits is sexual now
How much goddamn doublethink is there around this subject?
>we need to be more representative of different body types
>except women with big tits, because they only exist for male gratification
>despite a lot of the actual, real female population having big tits now because of diets and lifestyle

>'It was like there was some kind of dumb adult conspiracy or something'

>mfw KND was right

because today's old people are the kids that had to endure this from their parents

I remember being on a trip with my boys gospel choir (lol what a fag I know but I was 6) and one of the kids brought out his gameboy and Pokémon red. His mom was a chaperone and caught him, then went on a big rant in front of all the kids and parents talking about how they were pocket monsters and that monsters were evil and tools of the devil.

I remember in the car home my dad call her a fucking wacko. We were Christian, but my parents still bought me Pokémon tapes and books and even got me Pokémon gold with the golden pichu and pikachu Gbc. Hell I was even younger watching power rangers. Me and my friends imatatted the karate shit of course, but we weren't retarded enough to actually roundhouse kick each other. A belt goes a long way.

My parents wouldn't let me watch South Park as a kid even though I told them my other friends got to watch it. They'd just let me watch Simpsons when it came to older audience cartoons.

>mfw i'd just watch South Park at my grandmas and other adult cartoons

>CBBC

I heard it was because it was "mindless" and "too violent". Kinda makes some sense, but then again, I'm pretty sure the same fuckers who complain about it happened watched Tom and Jerry, Three Stooges, and all that stuff when they were children.

This sadly meant that I was in a school full of assholes and cunts who lived off of horrible Disney Channel Sitcoms (Though, Zack and Cody was lit).

I don't think it counts as "enduring" if the kids accepted their parents' anti-fun, anti-sex paranoia so wholeheartedly to carry them into college.

to me it sounds more like a rebellion against parents that were too lenient with their upbringing

dem kids always be doin the exact opposite of what their parents tell em

My mom was pretty lenient on what I watched, unless it was south park or MTV, the latter for good reason.
She was fine with me watching KoTH, and she liked ATHF. Didn't like squidbillies all that much, though.

I actually remember there being kids at my school who's parents did not allow them to watch classic Tom & Jerry

My parents allowed me to watch almost any cartoon, except one mean for a adults
and then even those when I was 12

My mom didn't want me to watch Homestar Runner.
did it anyway and she came around because she saw that was funny.
Strongbad was a bit too edgy for ten year olds to watch apparently
