How would you change Michael's character?

>3.71MB
that's my bandwith for a week

a core breach

>what rank is that officer over there?
>walks 5 meters over to them
>leans in and squints closely at badge from a quarter meter away to see the microscopic pips
>Ah yes, hellow, commander. Nice to meet you.

Fucking retarded.

Sorry

>Fucking retarded.

Like the rest of the entire show.

You need glasses bro

>remove her
>make the show about Lorca & cie travelling the galaxy to find ways to defeat the klingons
>Lorca keeps trying to blow everything up so he can get his hands on new toys
>everyone else tries to stop him and often fail to do that.

Throw her out an airlock

I feel bad for Michael's actress. It's not her fault the writing is bad

cie?

>All this bitching about show acronyms, nitpicking about banal minutiae, throwing tantrums over an anachronistic canon and the feasibility of science fiction

That is exactly why I hate the Star Trek fanbase so fucking much. They're all a bunch of pathetic, pedantic, pretentious baby whiners who will pick apart and argue over extremely minor story points or plot holes that mean absolutely nothing to anyone but the most autistically challenged dotards on the planet. It's absolutely sickening, and the main reason I avoid Trek threads.

The Klingon Torchbearer runs her through and she dies. That's what she gets for being reckless and ignoring all safety precautions. And you've set the tone for the series perfectly.

/STD/

Who would you make the main character if Michael's dead?

I'd cancel the show and start over again. None of the characters are redeemable.

We'd need more characters. The first crew was entirely disposable since the plot revolves around her.

STD

>IMG_1615.png (3.71 MB

Phoneposter. It is the phoneposting normies you use /DIS/ instead of /STD/. Figures.

Not even Saru?

Then you shouldn't have pissed in their Cheerios, ketchup boy.

>"threat ganglia"

Fucking stupid character. Absolutely retarded.

It is Star Trek, there shouldn't be a main character.

...

>story points and plot holes don't matter

The absolute state of Sup Forums.

>bitches that everything is a rehash or remake or copy
>bitches when something changes

this actually fucking happened

>threat ganglia

That's literally the entire purpose of his character, to be in a place at a time and have those stupid spines pop up. His character is literally a simple plot device. Pathetic.

Reminder

Trips confirm that actually fucking happened

This. Other shows just use music as that cue.

Even Orville got the uniform coloring right.

Lorca calling for Black Alert gets my dick hard.

/STD/ (formerly /DIS/)

OP here. I don't care about your fucking polls or your fucking childish acronym. I will never bend nor break. Fuck outta here.

This scene was the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. I mean, they have this beast that has survived all manner of weapons and this chick thinks she's going mónñó-é-móñó with it. even if she killed it in a single shot, it'd most likely still kill her by landing on her during the initial charge.

hey CBS, where do I apply for shill jobs?

/STD/

He's a cunt, but goddammit, he's /ourcunt/.

I imagine they avoided color-coded uniforms as they would have looked out of place in a dark, gritty war drama.

Oh no.

>and the feasibility of science fiction
Yeah.
It's not like that was a defining factor of Star Trek.
Asimov and Roddenberry totally didn't have a chat on a disk called "Inside Star Trek" about how what defines good Sci-Fi is that it only breaks feasibility when it has to, and that's what sets Star Trek apart from the garbage that surrounds it.
youtube.com/watch?v=iHg_1Ni6k-c&feature=youtu.be&t=2375

You can call Star Trek fans pathetic and pedantic and even pretencious all you want. That doesn't change the fact the the following is a direct quote from "Inside Star Trek":
>"There are other Science Fiction Shows — no names please — in which it is quite clear that the writers and the producer know nothing about science, and don't care, and that shows too. And that it's impossible to be a self respecting viewer and accept it."
Listen to the fucking track. It's in there.
If you don't like it, then I'm sorry you don't like the principles governing Trek, maybe you shouldn't speak for it.

MAGIC SPACE MUSHROOM

WE USE IT TO TELEPORT THE SHIP

shaved head

They avoided color-coded uniforms because they can't figure out their own licensing rights.

So much this.

so you're saying just leave this thread and start another more appropriately named one? okay faggot.

THE SPACE MUSHROOM IS NOW A MONSTER

WEAPONIZE IT

Had anyone actually watched that to find out if her argument has any merit at all? Besides saying that calling it STD mocks black people having higher rates of stds, I can't imagine what she says would make sense and I am reluctant to give my time to consider what the actress says as having merit.

thass racist

Pathetic false flagging
Pathetic samefagging

>it's funny because it's true.

QUICK CAPN GRAB THE NIPPLE CLAMPS

THE SPACE MUSHROOM MONSTER MUST BE TAMED

I WILL USE THE WEAPON THAT I KNOW IT'S IMMUNE TO TO KEEP IT AT BAY

AAAARGH, IT'S KILLING ME! MICHAEL HELP!

They could have muted the colors to fit in or done something like start with color coded then, once the war starts, issue the grimdark uniforms and tiny insignia on some pretense like it makes it harder for the Kingons to target command officers etc. Might have even made the start of the war more dramatic. First two episodes more lit and color coded uniforms, then in the jump to 6 months later and boarding the Discovery, everyone's in dark uniforms and everything looks more grim.

(Yes, we know it's a licensing problem but cough up some extra money or negotiate better.)

It's fake you fucking dolt.

is it safe to say that the discovery ship since it's powered by mushrooms is the first vegan spacecraft?

Hail friend.

What calleth thoust the thread? DIS or STD? Friend or foe? Speaketh!

lmao XD XD XD

>I WILL USE THE WEAPON THAT I KNOW IT'S IMMUNE TO TO KEEP IT AT BAY
She didn't know they were immune to the "deadliest weapons," though. She knew regular phasers didn't work on them, which is why she didn't try a regular phaser on it.

DSC

...

Combined with the spinning pizza cutter saucer section, you might be on to something big.

While I would point out that more outrageous things have been said in regards to popular media debates, I regret falling for the ruse.

Thanks for telling me.

>Know that this creature treats reinforced hull plating like a 5 year old treats cake frosting
>Know that it is immune to phasers to the point of taking no discernable damage from them of any kind
>"Hey, let's let it loose on board, because I've got a gut feeling this other weapon might work on it, even though if it's not immune to it, the weapon might just blow it to pieces making any further effort with it impossible."
Are you seriously defending this?

I'm pretty sure it's STD

you are talking to shills, relax your ass and enjoy Sup Forums.

Is there any other evidence of a vast pizza-based product placement conspiracy theory?

thread = ruined

Bravo!

umm, sweetie, DSC is Prime. No amount of complaining will change that.

>STD

Really? JK Rowling backtracked on how that shitty fanfic Cursed Child was canon after so many fans called her out on it.

We truly live in the Kali Yuga.

making porn and censoring it is even more stupid than STD.
fucking japs

You can blame Amerifats for that.

That was pretty damn cruel to be honest.

>why

this character will either make or break the show and it's not off to a good start

>"He's wearing a bullet proof vest, so clearly a bazooka or a grenade or a nuke won't work on him."

Im coming over from /r/startrek because it is literally over run with marketing teams. I've been a trek fan for 20 odd years now and this show is an utter embarassment. It makes it even worse that anyone who says so is attacked by paid influencers anywhere there is a big trek community. The writing is SO BAD and SO BORING. All there is are bad visuals like I'm supposed to care about bad CGI. The ship design is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in trek and the spore drive animation is just so stupid! Why do they spin and do barrel rolls?! Its just DUMB and completely cringe. If this is trek now I'm done. No thanks.

>I want to keep it under control so we can tame it
>I'll use one of the many "Deadliest Weapons Ever Created" in this room to do so

>If this is trek now I'm done. No thanks.

K bye.

she's gonna die. The set up is fucking obvious. It'll give Michael an excuse to go even darker.

The JJ movies and now this show are nothing but coffin nails for me. Goi watch Star Trek: Continues or even The Orville (aka, parallel universe Star Trek) for actual Star Trek stuff.

how mad do they get if you call it STD there?

She wanted to dissect it at that point, not tame it. She says as much. You didn't pay attention to the episode because you thought she used a regular ol' phaser and now you think she was trying to tame it. Just stop.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. But, she is also a propaganda vehicle for normalizing autism.

I guess the show will be another Trek of Thrones or sommin
nigga

They call you a racist. Yes. A racist.

LOL

lol wut, you have any screenshots?

that shit gets old quick, plus she's white. The autism thing will just be played for sympathy. Maybe they'll have her stuttering before a Klingon rapes her or shit

It doesn't help that it didn't look anything like they were trying to dissect it.
>How do we kill it?
>We shoot it with things that might not work after releasing it
Never mind you have it in a box where you could suffocate it. Nah, not an option.
Hey, you could just open a hole in the force field like the main character did in the Pilot! Nah, remembering things from 2 episodes ago is too much.
Maybe when you flooded the chamber with the stuff you assumed might knock it out, you could wait and see the effects first? Nah, let's just open it and hope for the best even though it literally tore an entire ship that was almost exactly like this one apart!

Me saying she wanted to tame it is me going out on a limb and pretending that's what was going on in a previous version of the script, because unless you assume they wanted to tame it, what they did is the single most retarded way of achieving their goal. Even when taming it it's stupid, but at least you have to give it some room.

No, they don't. I went and checked. Did a search and found a thread called "why are people calling it STD." The top rated comments were jokes ("it's catchy," "it's viral"). Others said it was a joke. Some said it was because they don't like the series. Nobody cried racism. Not going to link it but the thread's title is "Why are people calling it STD? We don't call TNG "STT" or VOY "STV"" if you want to look it up yourself.

So fuck that user for lying and making me look it up.

You dumb fucking nigger. You can't search through the comment threads of every submission. I believe him because I've seen it myself too. The comment was something like "the only people that call it STD are the racists who complain about the lead being a black woman." and other shit like that.

Fuck you.

>making me look it up.
That was autism, not anyone else's fault.

>/DIS/
Remember before CBS shills got butthurt over STDs true shorthand. Remember when we were free to call it STD for months leading up to the shows premiere?
I do.

He didn't look anything up anyway, reddit doesn't have a comment search feature. He's a liar.

Literally kill yourself you fucking redditor.

Again, she and the captain talked about using its body parts to make weapons and armor. Not taming it.

You're dismissed. I'm done with you.
