borderline unwatchable

it was a comfy 80's John Hughes film

THIS IS A BLUE BOARD

I'm more interested in what the high school was like on a typical weekday. This and Ferris Bueller made me prefer what was going on during school than the protagonists.

In fact, did they go to the party at Stubbies? I really wanted to know if Andrew or Claire showed up that night.

Ew, should have kept her panties on.

what did he mean by this?

It's okay.

At the end while Bryan is narrating, he says that they'll go back to their cliques, but for that one Saturday detention they were all friends and realized that people are all the same despite their identities.

He had to write the report while the other two got laid. Also the goth chick looked better without all the shit on her face

Who says they can't be friends when they graduate?

Public school is overrated as fuck. As soon as as you get your diploma, all that bullshit dissipates. Especially as you head to college and move out of your bumble-fuck hometown.

If Andrew, Claire, Bender, Brian and Allison all hung out together after they graduate, who gives a fuck?

I graduated HS in 2010 so I never understood why even in the 1980's, why you couldn't hang with different people from different circles after the cap and gown ceremony.

Um...

>the other two got laid

No wonder Bender threw up his fist at the end.

It captures an aspect of the 80's pretty well.
Comfy movie.
Don't know why but remembering this made me want to dig out my 'lost boys' DVD

I had school friends and out of school friends and never the twain shall meet.

>Don't know why but remembering this made me want to dig out my 'lost boys' DVD
Possibly access to shitty old man movies?

I'm guilty of this as well. I made a fuckton of friends in college and outside of college. I never had them meet with my public school friends because frankly they live on opposite sides of the state and it just never happened.

But back to what I was saying. They were all 16 except I think Bender was 17 (held back probably). They would've all graduated 2 years later in 1987. That summer they could hang out outside of town or something without people judging them. In fact, who gives a fuck if people did?

I have lost boys and flatliners somewhere that I picked from a $5 bin.
Keeping an eye out for Cocoon. Not sure if it ever got put on DVD

HOW DARE YOU! posting pornography on a blue board! shame!

>the breakfast club
>no breakfast is consumed

totally unrealistic depiction of high school detention.

It was okay. The ending was kind of, I don't know, hypocritical maybe?

>Weird girl conforms to awful 80s fashion/prep clique for some reason and gets CHAD'D
>Preppy girl starts dating lowlife that threatened to rape her earlier in the movie
>Beta nerd bitch ends up doing their homework despite the fact that they will likely never talk to him ever again

I always got the sense that 80s movies were written by normalfags (jock/prep) who didn't realize how much the fags (lowlife/nerd/weirdo) actually despised them in hs, and instead thought they looked up to them or something.

Irl the prep and jock would've maybe hooked up, and the weird chick either would've hooked up with the lowlife, or just spent the day hanging out with the nerd before never speaking to him again.

great music at least.

A relic of the 80's

They're all washed up now. Everyone. The whole movie, actors, director, crew and soundtrack artists. Everybody....

Sad.

Sad!

They are actually named that because their bond happens slowly, but Breaks Fast once detention is over.

shit.
>angsty kid is a piece of shit cause my dad beats me waah
>nerd does the homework for everybody
>weird girl dresses like everybody else and is actually hot woaaah life changed
its like it has the message of "don't fall into cliches" for the entire movie and then they do just that.

I actually think Estevez is a good director, but he's sure in no hurry to shit them out.

I think it's like a taste of other lives for an afternoon. Ever see when a woman gets a makeover. She'll only look good that day and possibly the next, if she doesn't sleep or shower. And even her new look might not even suit her.

I don't know what to make of the ending.

>entire movie spent learning that each clique actually contains flawed, unique and interesting human beings
>end of the movie, the loner chick gets a makeover as a fucking normie

It's about acceptance through masks. John Hughes wasn't Kubrick, but wasn't that shallow either.

Ever see girls play with makeup? Even 20 somethings let their friends fix them up for him. It's not like they were grooming her, like in Jawbreaker.
