Thanks, McGanon.

Oh he's a comin

Doctor Whore

Can that user share his thesis on the concept of beauty again, I want a good laugh

>that camera tripod.
>laugh everytime.

TFW normies now think David Bradley was the first Doctor Who

Yeah, were there prior incidents of someone having a gun at a Big Finish studio, that they had to ban even prop guns?

There's probably something to unpack in an audio drama company using a camera tripod as a weapon

BSG now on Classic fm.

In the UK? We're not savages.

Death to all trips

Any moment now...

I'm glad you managed to save those little ones. I've yet to have to rescue any that fly into the window, but I always check when possible that there aren't any lying around unconscious after a particularly nasty bump.

>I confess I have a thing with moths
It's okay, moths sort of freak me out too... although there are some really cute ones. I won't link the video, for your own sake, but there's a particular species called the greater death's-head hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos) that squeaks, and it's absolutely adorable! If you're feeling brave enough, there are plenty of videos online of it.

>it sounds like a lightning in the bottle time for Doctor Who
That sums it up perfectly. It's why I'm hesitant whenever someone suggests that a cancellation of nuwho would bring us back to the comfiness of the original wilderness era... because that's impossible, at this point. Even if the majority of the fans siphon off and don't bother to delve into any extended universe content that appears, there'll still be far more floating around than there were during the original hiatus—of a different calibre, too. I don't think we'll ever see that same level of creative freedom ever again; the show's gotten too... popular, for it. For want of a better way of phrasing that. The original wilderness years were unique, and I think they'll always stay that way. I don't expect we'll ever see something of its sort ever again... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course. Who knows what the future holds? I'm sure there's a lot of untapped creativity out there.

kek. no problem.

holy, look at the end of the gun, you can see all the lines that they didn't remove when cutting it out

>copied-and-pasted photos of the same render of the daleks in the background

Where can I watch classic who?

>It's literally a tripod with a scope as the barrel
>THE EXACT SAME PICTURE OF THE SCOPE THAT'S ON THE TOP OF THE GUN

Is this out yet?

Doctor who sucks

Kek.

why are big finish covers so ugly now? they used to be pretty cool looking.

archive.is/7eSsd

Anyone else listen to Classic fm?

Have it on all the time.

Kek, I'm the touched up photoshop by a /who/re too that fixes the colours, so this is the IMPROVED version you're seeing

>Any moment now...
Literally, much to your annoyance as I recall. Could be any day this month.

>there's a particular species called the greater death's-head hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos) that squeaks
I was just watching a bat squeak :3 youtube.com/watch?v=WVz8rvIl_vY
I don't suppose there's any need for a fear of moths anymore, make me a watcher of that video now...I'll go look for it in a second

>because that's impossible, at this point.
Exactly, it would be its own thing that might be interesting, but it wouldn't be half as liberating as the actual wilderness years. The world's too connected now (not that I'm complaining about that) and Who's too popular for it. Everything's larger. But change is good, yar.

archive.is/7eSsd

Any day this month

They can't keep getting away with this!

What the fuck is classic fm?

Obrigado

>t.normie

leave.

JUST

I watched the squeaky moth, very overwhelming mixed feelings, if I closed my eyes it was cute, if I opened them I was confused, if I closed (?) my ears I'd probably be back to being freaked.

Self JUST for not including the JUST image I meant to

I don't think that's necessarily true. EU spinoffs like Faction Paradox have had a massive comeback in popularity in recent years.

That said, I think a far bigger deterrent to a future Wilderness is the fact that NuWho is super clingy when it comes to author's rights: yes, if you invent a monster for Dr Who, you have the rights to it, but you can only use it in Doctor Who-related properties in the future. Extremely limiting, and it means that shit like BBV won't be able to exist in the future.

And getting into Who-verse writing is way easier than you think. Eg N8 is in two upcoming Faction Paradox anthologies.

>the scope isn't even facing directly forwards, it's at an angle

NO WONDER YOU LOST THE FUCKING TIME WAR

Isn't radio exclusively listened to by normies?

What Classic fm?

get lodst.

>EU spinoffs like Faction Paradox have had a massive comeback in popularity in recent years.
Where? I haven't seen any resurgence anywhere.

is that the original?

>that bright red
>that green forest

what the hell

Nice try, N8.

Yup, that's the real one. Feast your eyes.

christ

I don't know who Lodst is but I'm assuming he's a German expressionist filmmaker. Thanks for the rec!

The biggest problem with this cover is still the four-segmented background. The colour clash might be tolerable if not for the fundamental clusterfuck of the entire box art's concept.

Unjust?

classicfm.com/

looks pretty normie to me desu

I wish Big Finish would learn the concept of "release dates."

>I was just watching a bat squeak
I love it! It's so fluffy! I actually did bat surveying the other week when I was away, but the thing we used to convert their cries to something we could hear... well, it made them sound like the fucking Predator

>But change is good, yar.
>yar
Have you ever illegally downloaded Big Finish, by any chance? Asking for a friend. The friend is not Nicholas Briggs. I'm just glad we had those years in which the whole Who universe could be explored and expanded in such creative ways. Even if we never return to such bizarrely creative stories... we'll always have the original wilderness era, and for that, I'm thankful. I'm sure the future will bring all sorts of exciting new stuff in its place.

Moths are a bit spooky, but they're also oddly cute. Not sure I'd want one crawling all over me, though.

The Faction Paradox stuff isn't an "officially" sanctioned thing, though. Like, it definitely exists as part of the extended universe, but when I say that we'll never truly return to the wilderness era creativity, I mean within BBC-produced content. Of course, I could be totally wrong, but I feel as though as much as stuff on the outer fringes will continue to grow and bring in boundary-pushing ideas, the stuff towards the centre—that which is more mediated by the Beebs themselves—might stagnate a little, in the interests of holding onto those fans who have no care for the darker, almost surreal, side of Who that the wilderness era previously brought.

But, yeah, you're absolutely correct about the author's rights thing. It muddies the waters, throttles the ability of writers to move their creations outwards and make something new of them, separate from the main body of Doctor Who stuff. Hence why I expect that the extended universe will narrow further and further as time goes on, focusing mainly around BBC-sanctioned stuff.

does one guy make the covers all the covers for every range? maybe he's just run out of ideas.

You haven't been looking, then. Obviously the fanbase of spinoffs will never compare with the fanbase of the show, but ~5 years ago on tumblr there was literally no Faction Paradox or Iris Wildthyme fanbase, and now people are really fucking annoying about it. Look at the leddit discord, they're constantly talking about spinoffy shit.

I think it's just a function of the time that the show's been on air? Like, we're hitting the peak of that time period where NuWho's been airing for long enough that NuWho-original fans are breaking into the spinoffs.

Idk why but that expression seems eeeever so slightly off for "~THE TIME WAR~" and the implications thereof. It's sort of a "Can you even BELIEVE this shit I'm about to go through?" face.

>I wish Big Finish would learn the concept of "release dates."
That would require them to organise themselves as a company and adhere to actual schedules so that things got done on time.

Agreed completely re:center vs fringes. Hopefully Chibnall's era will make the center a little more creative? Books and comics under Moffat vs under RTD were night and day, and this Penguin Books deal has a lot of potential. I'll probably be disappointed, though.

>Ah yes, the master classical composers. Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and John Williams.

what do you call this architecture style

Based

>John Williams
>classical composer

>Ugh, the Time War again? Puh-lease...

Briggs waits for no man, woman, or variations thereupon

ooooh jealous of your bat surveying, and your converter sounds pretty metal tb h. I bet Briggs could put that to good use. I love hearing about your animal work, it's so interesting

>Have you ever illegally downloaded Big Finish
Briggs please, I'm literally going to be buying people pictures of your face at Christmas, let me off the hook this one time!

We're of the same mind on those years. There's still so much to dig into from them, fortunately.

It's mostly one guy, forget his name, someone here would remember

*breathes in*

I wouldn't get your hopes up, since RTD is the man who saved Big Finish, Moff is the man who namedropped them a lot, and Chibnall is the man who has barely ever commented on the extended media apart to say he's mostly interested in televised Who

kek

The Fourth Doctor is a bit rude isn't he?

Yup that's the point of the post alright

>You haven't been looking, then.
I see those Faction tumblrs too, and most Faction content gets like 60 or 80 notes at best. And Obverse's Facebook likes are only a fraction of Bafflegab's (Paul Magrs' thing he uses to make Baker's End and Brenda and Effie audios). So it's not so much a "massive comeback in popularity" as it is "an okay-ish amount of people talk about it".

Forgot to link to Sorry for making it seem like I thrust a bunch of random talking points at you

What happens to drivers / surgeons when this happens? Would be pretty fucked up if shitty news are downloaded when you are in the middle of the operation.

Either science fantasy or Warhammer 40k

In Season 12/13? Eh, sort of. Post-Sarah Jane? Most definitely.

thanks guy

kek user

What Neo says, basically: don't build your hopes too high for Chibnall invoking the spirit of the wilderness era's creativity. But then again... he might bring something different and fresh and new, all the same.

Wait 'til you hear about all the fish I'm going to be looking at next week...

>Briggs please, I'm literally going to be buying people pictures of your face at Christmas, let me off the hook this one time!
Alright, Neo. Briggolas Nichs will allow it, for now. Don't let him catch you again.

>There's still so much to dig into from them, fortunately.
And so much for you, personally, to discover! Yay!

Now, I'm going to go pack my suitcase, then finish reading Parallel 59... because I have motivation in the form of The Dying Days. wew.

Real talk though is that the honest reason behind the lack of release dates, they literally don't have their shit sorted on a clear timetable?

Even if Chibnall doesn't, the next showrunner might react completely differently. I'll eat my sonic screwdrivers if Chibs stays as long as Moff; for better or worse he won't be around for ages.

Ooh i lake the sound of these mysterious fish! Have fun on your packing / paralleling adventures

fake leak season is upon us

And yet 60-80 is crazy compared to the notes on similar content from 2012. The size of the Faction Paradox tag has more than tripled, and based on what Stuart Douglas said on his facebook a while back, that's been reflected in Obverse's wallet.

Of course, Paul Magrs' stuff is boosted by the fact that he's an internationally-renowned author, and there's an independent audience for his shit outside of the Doctor Who crowd. (Which Faction Paradox desperately wanted, but failed to achieve, thanks in part to the comic series' cancellation. And it seems that, with Obverse's leadership, Larry's vision of a FP universe with a distinct identity from the DW one is dead in the water. Alas.)

t. N8

What the fuck was his problem?

He wanted to be called Elzorb

What was your first reaction to this line?

yeah but all those things are bound to happen this month anyway

The name you choose is like a promise you make. He's the one who broke the promise.

What if Christel Dee made a video about Faction Paradox?

Introducing
Elzorb
as
THE WAR ELZORB

Doctor Who is dead.

the war doktop

What I did, I did without choice.

Introducing
WAR DUST
as
THE WAR WAR DUST

DUSTY OLD BONES
FULL OF WAR DUST

just realised i'll only have to endure the current opening sequence one more time
feels good

I'm the Elzorb. I'm a Clom Lord. I'm from the planet Clom in the Raxas Alliance. I'm 3 years old and I'm the man who is gonna absorb your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?

No.

latest companion rumour on gallifreybase is james buckley
all i can say is i fucking hope not

The nice thing about this is that it only leaves a day's window to be deconfirmed. We might not have even jumped threads by then.

I've never heard of him before.

>james buckley
Jesus Christ can you fucking imagine. What the fuck.

jay in the inbetweeners if you've seen that

Is The Trial of a Time Lord kino? I only saw a few episodes. I didn't' realize it was 14 episodes total.

I hated Jay. Everyone's lives in that show would've been better if they killed him and buried him in a ditch.

it was a hypothetical schedule that someone on gallifreybase posted

There are a few scattered good moments, mostly just Colin's acting. I would definitely not call it kino. It's worth experiencing properly though, it's an interesting period of the show if nothing else. The premise is lends itself to fanwank continuity porn so you still see a tonne of discussion over it but I would not call it kino, or even particularly good.

why isnt dr who portrayed by a trans muslim character?

show seems so racist i think it should be banned under UK guidelines.

Do you dislike 6? Like him? Indifferent?

(you)

What is your opinion on Oreos?

i need some fuckin series 11 news i'm horny for it

Like most people I don't think his TV era is great, but I think Colin is definitely one of the better actor to play the part, and I'm a big fan of Colin himself and his 6 on Big Finish. Jubilee is easily in my top Doctor Who stories ever, utter masterpiece. He's not my very favourite, but definitely in my higher half of picks
