This video is not cool in any way. This is a 46 year old woman trying to be "cool" in a way that worked with her generation but does not resonate with young people of today. Sarah Silverman has now joined the likes of the Bette Midlers and Bea Arthurs of the past of women who were once considered hip and funny but in middle age became emblematic of a particular form of preachy tacky middle aged liberal "entertainer" that remained popular with middle aged housewives and was the subject of ridicule by the younger generations.
I don't think this has been building for a while. Even a couple of years ago the style of humor that liberals have been doing for the last 15 years was still topical. But no longer. It's over. The late night hosts are not cool anymore. College humor is not cool anymore. They have all lost their edge and want to talk about "serious issues". That's the end of them.
What's coming along next? You'd have to tell me. I'm too old to be with it. But I have been around long enough to know when what I grew up with is passing out of style. I saw it happen before in the late 90s and it's happening again now.

Well, there are always young people (I am assuming you are such) who become fascinated by the pop culture of the last two decades, and some of those acts will see a resurgence in popularity due to this.
When I was in late high school there was a huge heavy metal and grunge revival due to the numerous shows devoted to the subjects on VH1 that teenagers would watch during the summer. Bands like Iron Maiden that had not been relevant in a decade began seeing popularity again, and bands like Godsmack and Disturbed also came along that appealed to the demographic. But this was also secondary to the main popular culture that still eschewed these things. Linkin Park was what the normies listened to, and even that was a minority compared to pop music.
