Ant-Man (2015)

>Edgar Wright was originally attached to direct the movie, but dropped out due to creative differences. Adam McKay and Rawson Marshall-Thurber were approached before Peyton Reed was hired.

>Wright's draft featured Scott Lang as a petty crook who's been arrested several times; Hank Pym as a mad scientist driven by ego; a love triangle between Scott, his ex-wife Maggie and his childhood friend Paxton; Darren Cross becoming the Nano Warrior; and minor roles for Hope Van Dyne and Scott's crew, which was comprised by eight criminals.

Warner cast someone rejected by Marvel for a D-list character to be Wonder fucking Woman.

Marvel and Sony later reached an agreement and Spider-Man was reinserted in the script in a smaller role.

>Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter refused to pay Robert Downey Jr's salary, reducing Iron Man to a brief appearance. Mads Mikkelsen, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhall, Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Ethan Hawke, Jack Huston, Oscar Isaac, Keanu Reeves, Matthew McConaughey, Ewan McGregor and Justin Theroux were approached to play the role before filming was delayed to accomodate Cumberbatch's schedule.

>Ken Watanabe, Morgan Freeman and Bill Nighy were approached for the Ancient One before Tilda Swinton was cast.

>In early drafts, the Ancient One was a Asian man and Wong was not featured. When the Ancient One was made into a Celtic woman, Wong was added to the story as one of Strange's mentors.

>Early drafts revealed that Strange went through the loop thousands of times before Dormammu decided to accept his bargain, and that he remembers each and every time he died.

>Early cuts featured more parallels between science and magic that were cut from the movie so magic would remain shrouded in mystery.

>Early cuts had a slightly darker tone that didn't ressonate very well with test-audiences. Dan Harmon was then hired to revise the script and more lighthearted beats were added in reshoots.

Wright fucking off was legitimately for the best.

>madbomb
Still, Iron Man sperging because the enemy showed him something was shit, this woulda been shittier

>Fede Alvarez
I know it's usually a huge mistake to hotshot promising directors to a big project like this after only two movies, but goddamn I wanted to see that.

>Black's first draft for the movie was rated R and featured a subplot where Killian uses Extremis-enhanced pheromones to seduce Pepper, record their sexual encounter and broadcast it nationwide to taunt Stark.

Jesus

>All those great ideas getting cut.
I understand that they had to cut a lot of Lady Sif out, but having a darker movie, as well as adding more to Malekith, would have improved the movie.

Christ that's hot

I have zero sympathy for him after he sat on the script for years, when it could have been a Phase 1 film after Hulk or even Iron Man.

Isn't something like that in The Ultimates? Tony fucks Black Widow and it leaks to the internet or some shit?

Edgar Wright will have his Jon Favreau moment when he leaves Marvel and creates an awesome movie that makes Marvel beg to have him back.

Feige didn't want it for phase 1. He's on record saying that Wright was working on the second draft when Hulk premiered.

collider.com/kevin-feige-interview-the-incredible-hulk/

Then of course you had Scott Pilgrim and The World's End that he did while Ant-Man wasn't in production. So to call him lazy is retarded.

He never drew a dime, none of his movies ever broke 35 million and Scott Pilgrim lost more than 10 million from it's budget.

He's through. The world has already moved to the next self important dweeb in Max Landis.

>Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter refused to pay Robert Downey Jr's salary, reducing Iron Man to a brief appearance. Downey Jr. lobbied for a larger role and was backed by producer Kevin Feige, leading to a conflict that ended with Marvel Studios splitting off from Marvel Entertainment and Perlmutter being reassigned to the television department while Feige had complete creative control over the movies.

>Civil War actually, literally caused a Civil War

blame pandering to the chinese market friendo

>>Mickey Rourke created an elaborate backstory for Vanko to make him a sympathetic character, but most of these scenes were cut to streamline the narrative. Rourke was displease and disowned the movie, swearing never to work with Marvel again.
marvel cant unto villains

kek

He hasn't starred in anything.

>#hypercrisis

These are getting stale though. It's the same info over and over.

>Brian blessed as Odin
Would've made the movie do much better. Though he should've been Volstagg

Consistently seeing the studio cut stuff for being too dark and serious.

Why are they so afraid of targeting families instead of children? They have a fan base that's aged 10 years if they watched the first ironman

>early drafts featured Arnim Zola surviving the bunker's explosion by escaping in a robotic body. This subplot was scrapped for being too. BECAUSE A SUPERSOLDIER AND,A MAN IN A DECOMMISSIONED SPECIAL FORCES BIRDSUIT RUNNING FROM A PEACEKEEPING ORGANIZATION THAT WAS TAKING OVER BY A ALIEN TECH BASED TERRORIST ORGANIZATION THAT CAUSED ALL THE MAJOR WAR/TERRORIST ACTS OF THE LATE 20TH CENTURY AND ALSO PLANNING TO DESTROY ALL PEOPLE POTENTIAL OF BEING A THREAT TO SAID TERRORIST ORGANIZATION BY GIANT FLYING AIR BASES WITH GUNS ISN'T AT ALL SILLY.

>Why are they so afraid of targeting families instead of children?

But "darkness" doesn't make something mature by default, and in fact can be even more infantile then something made "for kids."

I don't get the constant push by fans that want the MCU to go darker. It's not going to suddenly legitimate your hobby to the public if the movies go for failed attempts at darkness.

It wouldn't fit the scene. The whole thing is saved on reel-to-reel tape but he suddenly runs away in a robot suit? The whoel point of the moment was to juxtapose the plot with all the old analog technology.

There's different layers of silly in a story.

Zemo is still alive brah

>Jensen Ackles auditioning for/being approached for all these roles

will he ever do it, guys? Will he ever be in the MCU?

>Charlie Cox as Loki

mite b good

>He never drew a dime
This is a retarded point, all of Marvel's directors never made a blockbuster film before Marvel hired them.

If James Gunn somehow didn't get the Guardians of the Galaxy job and it was given to Peyton Reed, you'd be talking shit about him and Slither/Super not making a lot of money either.

>Sam Rockwell
If only

>Glenn Howerton auditioned for Star-Lord
FUCK
also
>Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler as Rocket
mfw

> Early cuts featured Stan Lee as one of the items in the Collector's inventory, but it was cut for being "too meta".

Someone made a bad decision

>Early drafts featured Richard Rider joining the Nova Corps and developing a feud turned friendship with Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy
This would be so great, but Gunn fucking hates the Nova Corps so Rider could be kinda lame

All live action movies and tv shows should go to TV as well. Just because they're vaguely based on comics we get stuck with them though, sadly.

The fact that this movie got made and Brian Blessed wasn't in it is a fucking travesty.

>they cut the ELO song

I am more mad about this than I should be. Also goddamnit find another fucking role for Jason Momoa. Y'know what, fuck it. JUST FUCKING PUT RONAN DEX IN THE NEXT ONE MARVEL YOU COWARDS.

fucking Ike

What would Iron Man made by Zack Snyder be like?

>Early cuts featured more parallels between science and magic that were cut from the movie so magic would remain shrouded in mystery.

Ughhhhhh. Hate that shit. Keeping magic magical will segregate Strange from the rest of the universe, plus magic has no place in Marvel. Should have bitten the bullet and just kept the scenes in.

>Sam Worthington and Will Smith were in early talks for the role of Captain America.

...

> didn't resonate very well with test-audiences

every.time.

ah shit brian blessed

what could have been

>>Early drafts featured Stark developing a relationship with Black Widow, but this entire subplot was cut, and even their flirtatious conversations were toned down after negative feedback from test-screenings.
So her canon mission of collect sperm from every Avenger reached the MCU

Serious? Gunn said that he thinks Nova would be a great movie, but he's too busy and won't be able to do it himself.

>Brian Blessed Odin
>Diora Baird Sif
why did this not happen

>The movie was filmed mostly without a script, with actors ad-libbing most of their lines based on a production guideline. Production was so chaotic that both the cast and the producers believed the movie would be a disaster until test-screenings reported surprisingly positive audience reception.

That's what you get for hiring professional talent.

>Mickey Rourke created an elaborate backstory for Vanko to make him a sympathetic character, but most of these scenes were cut to streamline the narrative. Rourke was displease and disowned the movie, swearing never to work with Marvel again.

That guy. Seriously.

>Early drafts featured Maya Hansen as the real Mandarin, but producer Ike Permultter didn't believe a female villain would be profitable and made Aldrich Killian into the true mastermind.

Oh Jesus God. Perlmutter, you JERK. IMAGINE THAT FINALE.

>Early drafts featured Arnim Zola surviving the bunker's explosion by escaping in a robotic body. This subplot was scrapped for being too silly.

...Too silly.

Okayyyyyyyy...

>Alec Baldwin was approached for Alexander Pierce before Robert Redford was cast.

Good. Good. Narrow escape.

>>Marvel Studios offered to allow 20th Century Fox to retain the rights to Daredevil in exchange for using Silver Surfer and Galactus in the movie, but Fox declined.

MUHAHAHAHAHA.

>the Ultron drones combining to form a skyscrapper-sized Ultron for the final battle.

Nnnuuuhhhh

Wouldn't have worked. Not in a movie.

Holy shit, RDJ. That's pretty badass.

>Mads Mikkelsen, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhall, Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Ethan Hawke, Jack Huston, Oscar Isaac, Keanu Reeves, Matthew McConaughey, Ewan McGregor and Justin Theroux were approached to play the role before filming was delayed to accomodate Cumberbatch's schedule.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha.... Oh GOD.

>>Early drafts revealed that Strange went through the loop thousands of times before Dormammu decided to accept his bargain, and that he remembers each and every time he died.

Well, I am sure they can still use the idea for when mr. Cummerbund plays Doctor Who. Oh wait.

Brian would dominate every scene he is in. Like he was some kind of god or so -

Oh right.

Adam Sandler as Rocket

he means Strucker

>Early drafts featured Vision on Captain America's team and Ant-Man on Iron Man's team

This would have been silly as all fuck with the whole ant-man and falcon thing they had. However Im betting now Falcon was not the first choice. I suspect war machine may have been their first choice.

Im really glad giant-man and spider-man were not on the same team though.

The first draft of CIVIL WAR preceded ANT-MAN's release. The writers didn't even know about Falcon and the feud with Stark and all that.

>be Jensen Ackles
>be classically handsome, a decent actor, not a douchebag
>spend half your adult life filming a soap opera with demons on a second-rate channel
>never get your breakthrough moment because you spend your entire schedule filming your soap opera and have no time to work on any substantial projects that might get you noticed by bigwigs
>after your soap opera ends, you will likely get bit roles on NCIS-type shows or, if you're lucky, a recurring role in another CW soap opera
>end your career as an actor decades later decently well-off, but with no real hits or critical acclaim

He could have been so much more, Sup Forums.

Why is Norton so autistic?

>Ray Stevenson auditioned for Emil Blonsky before Tim Roth was cast.

Are they fucking insane?

not on Feige watch

>Jon Favreau planned to adapt the "Demon in a Bottle" storyline, but the studio felt it was too dark.
That would have been great

...

>Early drafts featured Maya Hansen as the real Mandarin, but producer Ike Permultter didn't believe a female villain would be profitable and made Aldrich Killian into the true mastermind.
Is this what tumblr feels like all the time

Heinrich isn't.

Its not that darkness is good its that many good storys are dark.

>Gina Carano auditioned for Gamora

Nah, this makes too much sense, let's cast a fucking twig.

Seriously I am so fucking salty about that.
Hall is a fantastic actress and would have been a fantastic full villain.

No Roth was fucking fantastic.

Yeah, nothing says international supersoldier like cgi muscle tone on a 40 year old skinnyfat manlet.

Perlmutter has a job in Trump's administration now. I wonder if he ever actually reads his own comics.

>ROM Space Kinght
Doesn't Hasbro own the rights to the character?

>The movie was originally rated "R" for the scene where Phil Coulson is killed by Loki.

Why does the presence of blood or not mean a sudden jump in rating?

Of course not, why would a super-villain read something where the heroes always win?

Ike is the same guy that legitimately believed audiences wouldn't notice the change in actors for Rodney because both actors were black

>During the period where Iron Man was unavailable, the Russos mapped out an alternative third act centered on Baron Zemo searching for a biological weapon known as "Madbomb", which compels people into murderous rampages.

Isn't that the end of Kingsman

That's why he had to be cut.

The movie was such a weird mismatch of Iron Man stories. It mushed in the Vanko Crimson Dynamo story with Justin Hammer with War Machine with Whiplash. It basically wasted multiple stories on one cluster.

So it was always gonna suck, then.

>Too silly
>Comic book movie series that features a Norse god as a prominent superhero

MCU has such retarded standards.
