The cause of the fall of the Spanish Empire is pretty well known. Mostly due to poor economic management and fighting too many incredibly expensive wars on many fronts for ideological, rather than financial, reasons.
None of the money coming from the Amercias was used to improve Spainish industry or infrastructure outside of a couple of the major ports. It was used to pay for wars they couldn't afford, and pay for protection from piracy.
Their royal family also became terribly imbred and erratic. Carlos V was the only one worth his salt.
