/hor/ror General - The Official Sup Forums Horror Thread

Welcome to /hor/, a 24/7 general for the entire month of October.

Let's continue, and let's try to make this as kino as possible.

Question of the thread: Can horror films made by abusive directors (Polanski, Salva, Von Trier) still be enjoyed?

Of course their movies can be enjoyed, if theyre good movies, theyre good movies. I also watched Cannibal Ferox for the first time this morning and thought that was pretty good.

some might argue that the works are even ENHANCED by the predatory nature of the director behind the camera, creating a metatension not only between characters and monsters but actors and directors

Of course you can say that, but at the end of the day, its just fiction.

speaking of Salva, did anyone see Jeepers Creepers 3?

SUPTV Lineup for tonight

What is your favorite Hammer movie?

Curse of the Werewolf for me. Even though there's no Lee or Cushing and there's barely any werewolf and the werewolf doesn't look great it's still the best film. Oliver Reed is stellar and it is by far Terence Fisher's best work behind the camera and the execution of his inner struggle is perfect. Best Hammer movie and best werewolf movie.

Apparently it's Del Toro's favorite as well.

>what other Kiyoshi Kurosawa movies are worth seeing?
Tokyo Sonata, Retribution, Charisma, Real (not one of his best, but decent)
Sweet Home is a typical 80's horror, neither bad or amazing besides special effects.

Haven't seen Door 3 or Loft.

tfw no goldilocks gf

The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires

Better question: what is the biggest piece of shit to have come from Hammer Studios? Satanic Rites of Dracula is a big contender.

Jesus fuck, I didn’t know that was a Hammer Production. What a piece of pure trash.

The two sequels to The Vampire Lovers were absolute shit, its like the faggots that wrote them completely missed the idea of the original.
Also that one Dracula movie that is about those three dudes, it was sooooo fucking boring.

Wait...the one about the twins was ok, now that i remember it.

Dude, it's a Dracula movie with both Lee and Cushing and reprising their iconic roles. Come on, how could it have not been a Hammer picture? Even Horror Express feels like a Hammer production simply because the both of them are in it.

I literally just had to look up if Horror Express was Hammer or not

I still like it tho

Don't forget abusive actors!

Kinski & Herzog: Made For Each Other

I like several of them, but I have a soft spot for Rasputin with Christopher Lee

>Question of the thread: Can horror films made by abusive directors (Polanski, Salva, Von Trier) still be enjoyed?

Of course, the director or the "artist" isn't their media/creation. I think many artists and esp musicians are degens, but I love their work.

The Mummy sequels are pure doo doo

this one, the Mummy, and Curse of Frankenstein. I can't pick one.

>Terence Fisher
>Richard Matheson
>Charles Gray
>dope occult stuff
>trippy ending

What's your malfunction?

Is the Witch any good? Marathoned the first 5 minutes so far.

Yeah, it's pretty great. I think it's gotta be one of the only movies where Christopher Lee plays a protagonist.

I liked it

Just finished watching From Beyond. What are some other hidden gems of extra dimensional horror? I also really enjoyed Dagon, so eldritch shit and Cronenberg style body horror is a real plus. I also recently saw Supernova and Event Horizon, which were okay and had good atmosphere but didn't really stick with me, but I liked the ideas behind them.

Have you seen Prince of Darkness?

Yes, you should be able to separate the art from the director and actors. Liking the movie doesn't mean you have to support who they personally are.

Dracula

I have not, but the wikipedia page says its the second part of a trilogy starting with The Thing and ending with In the Mouth of Madness, which I have both seen and enjoyed a hell of a lot. I'll definitely watch it, thanks for the recommendation.

Watch it nigga

Polanski did some sick shit.
BUT he made an amazing trilogy.

You can still enjoy the film's if you seperate art from creator.

Loving the stream so far. Benn on it almost 24/7 since the start.

watched that piece of shit babysitter netflix movie last night

kill me

the devil rides out, although the special effects are garbage.

whats that movie with dracula?

dracula 2000

Who is the hottest babe in horror and why is it the bride?

they're not "enhanced". there's a huge difference between reality and fiction and you might need to talk more on this with your high school guidance counselor.

I was always partial to Zita Johann.

Et la belle Vera Clouzet.

her nudes from this are god-tier

Anybody have any good Netflix recommendations?
Already watched
The devil's candy
The circle
Hush
Little evil
The babysitter
Doesn't necessarily need to be scary just horror themed
Hush was shit btw

Me too, user. She has such a weird vibe.

don't go down that road

that's a bad road

Watching this atmospheric-kino.

I raise you The Love Witch

...

Watched it the other night because someone mentioned it here. Pretty good for a modern horror desu. Great atmosphere.

mfw Sup Forums once right for once: it's _actually_ good!

you seasonal horror posers need to fuck right off

ok

now she is the definition of thicc, unlike all those whales you see attributed

Mostly unrelated, but how does one set up a site like suptv for streaming? I really want to stream some Tales From the Crypt and stuff with friends but don't want to deal with copyright strikes from standard streaming sites like Twitch.

Is this the most you see or does she show it all?

>Can horror films made by abusive directors (Polanski, Salva, Von Trier) still be enjoyed?

Well yeah if you proscribe to Death of the Author. Depending on the actions of the director the movie might have a stigma that could attract more fans. Kinda like how the reason so many people saw The Crow was because of what happened with Bruce Lee's son.

of course! I mean we still cherish literature written by racists and rapists.. Plus there's no use in censoring things made by bad people because you can never know who exactly is a bad person

What do you think of how Scream effected the Slasher Genre? Sure we got a revival of slasher movies but most of them always had that *Wink Wink Nudge Nudge* attitude toward their subject matter.

It essentially killed it. There's no where to go after you go post-modern. The only option is to wait a decade and then go back to sincerity.

>extra dimensional horror
say no more

Anyone else seen it? Comfy as fuck but the end is kind of shit

forgoet pic

best 80s b-movies?

I really enjoy Lucky Mckee stuff and the Woods is one of his best.

Night of the Creeps
Maniac

Return of the Living Dead
Class of Nuke 'Em High

Reeeeeeeee when will a bluray rip of it get released?

I want to watch it for Halloween

This is not a seasonal thing. I started the /hor first thread and although I am very relieved that someone has been posting it everyday, it is not limited to one month.
If those fags can have a general over one damn tv show, we are more than capable of having a perpetual general on an entire genre. Thanks for everything else though

forgot pic or didn't capitalize IT

hmm

boy i'd like to drill them if you catch my meaning

doing it

what's some good French horror that isn't New French Extremity related or super well known classics (Diabolique, Eyes Without a Face)?

It's a great movie check it out

oh it's a classic

>Polanski
I can understand the other faggots but Polanski never abused anyone and literally did nothing wrong. He had consenting sex with a girl. In his native land of France, the legal age to have sex with a girl is 14 years old. It was only the US that got butthurt and tried to lock him up and failed because now he's a free man who's still making great films. Salva is just a legit pedophile who molests little boys and Von Trier has never made anything worth while except for an "art" film which is actually nothing more than torture porn.

A lot of people seem to like it despite it being hated critically especially compared to the ones that were highly praised like Dracula and The Mummy. Even John Landis loves it and he hates every fucking movie ever.

You leave the best Dracula alone

>consenting sex
not under California law
>native land...14 years old
She was 13, so not under French law either

not passing any value judgment, only clarifying the law

Since MNF is another match up I don't care for, I'm having a double header tonight. The Lost Boys and Stir of Echoes.

no... this has nothing to do with consensual sex nor statutory rape. he literally raped her. learn about what you're talking about. he actually drugged and raped her in the clearest possible sense and then admitted to it.

There is no such thing as rape, user. The guy was was a big time movie director and the little slut was obviously into the fact and so she slept with him after having a few drinks. Once the whore realized it would lead t nothing (like in many other cases) she cried rape. You can't just give he said she said bullshit and expect it to be true.

ah

we have a fundamental disagreement

>There is no such thing as rape
genuinely hope that when you grow up to be a man you understand both what words mean and that you're an actual idiot. i can almost promise you that in ten years when you're 25 you will be extremely embarrassed by comments like this

It was complete shit.

You literally just gave the only 2 worth watching

I guess you could watch The tenant which is a French film and a pretty good one at that.

>being this much of a newfag on Sup Forums

good to know

so like all jeepers creepers movies

I really really enjoy this movie. its incredibly underrated.

>being this mad over something
>ironically calling someone else a child

>being this defensive
underage = ban

TORRENT
WHEN

No one is being defensive but you now that you were called out on being an retard. Honestly sitting there thinking people don't know what rape is

You guys like Dario Argento

you're right i now it. thank you, exalted one

Quick... fuck you
Name your top ten horror movies!!!

...

Best horror TV show coming through

Never got into his stuff. What's a good entry level to start film by him

No... but I can tell you F13 wouldn't be in there for obvious reasons.
