>>SIX YEARS HAND-PAINTED
except it was rotoscoped

I don't have to

No it's not, it's only used as reference.

I've been waiting for this film for years.
Tell me, user,
1) Was it short? I've heard that the runtime is just 79 min
2) How was the story?
3) Is it like a feature film or a documentary?

Looks interesting but also gimmicky as hell, don't know how I feel about it

everything I've read says the story is very standard but the visuals beautiful, so basically it's pure kino since as any true patrician knows
>visuals > plot

plot is for plebs

Plot is for plebs but here’s the thing: Character drives a story. Well-defined characters and good visuals make plot almost irrelevant.

See: The Big Lebowski.

He literally hung out with prostitues but was afraid to let hem touch him

Except it’s hand painted

It’s still long and painful, doesn’t matter if it’s rotoscopy

It's 90 minutes or so.
Plot is the son of the postman who brings Vincent's letters to his brother ends up investigating how van Gogh died, so you see various characters who met him in his last days recollecting how he lived, slowly building up his figure. I thought it was really nice. Definitely worth watching. Oh and it was in 4:3 I think.

a film can be rotoscoped and handpainted at the same time
they didn't fucking use computers to do it back in the 40s

that's an odd ratio to use theses days

It depends how heavy involved the plot is. If it's literally a generic Oscar biopic but with beautiful visual it's really isn't going to be all that amazing in the end, whereas a still, esoteric and somber piece without much happening would be kino.

every frame is a literal painting

what theater?

Wait shit did this actually finally come out?

I'd watch this as a fan of animation alone, I don't even need a fucking plot

Who fucking cares
What's Sup Forums's beef with rotoscoping? I get when it's poorly used like in the idolm@ster movie but it's a fuckton of work and has to look good, and someone still has to decide the shot composition and shit. There's noting lazy about how it's made and nothing poor about the result unless they fuck it up.

It's like y'all never seen the 40s Superman shorts.

>six years a vincent
Nice, another film with a single gimmick.
Why not just look at his paintings instead?

LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PAINTERS

Did animation kill your parents?

>literally a cartoon with paint filters

>filters

They're literally all individual paintings

God I hope it has good sound design

66,960 FRAMES OF PAINTINGS

This. The plot is the least important thing in a movie.

All facets of a medium have virtues. So while a movie can be good because it's aesthetics are good despite it's mediocre plot, it can also be good because it's plot is good despite it's mediocre aesthetics. The best work comes when every element involved is executed with detail and passion.
