All-Star Comics #8

i too would like some head-turning recommendations

Brian Azzarello's run, Legends of the Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman: Earth One and that new graphic novel i forgot the name of.

...

This list is in need of some serious updating.

Erik Luke's run fucking sucked.

Thanks for the help lads. I really don't like the art in Azzarello's run though.

The True Amazon

Such as
Morrison's WW Earth One
Sensation Comics feat. WW #12-18, 28, 31-32, 34-35, 38

To be frank, yes. And so did Jimenez.

I would exchange Busiek's Trinity series for Wagner's Trinity series.

Busiek's stuff was like 50 issues of fucking boredom.

>no Kanigher's run

Seriously? Fucking seriously?

We definitely need an updated list.

Come on, Chiang is godly.

Grandpa pls

Also Legends of Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman: The true amazon.
Wonder Woman '77
Rebirth Inb4 Sup Forums gets triggred.

Wasn't Wonder Woman: Amazonia the one with Jack the Ripper? Where Wonder Woman was married to him or something and it was an abusive relationship and she had tons of babies.

That was a weird Elseworlds.

I've been away from comics for 4 years. Is rebirth any good?

>tfw no Superman/Wonder Woman

Oh, Sup Forums, you butthurt is hilarious.

(you)
even if you're stupid enough to like it, it's not essential Wonder Woman reading in any way, shape or form

It was so feminist that not even feminists could take it seriously.

Yes, it is.

Still haven't read it; I'm not expecting a bad book in any case.

It is. The book has a terrible characterization for Wonder Woman. She's basically either an uncaring nagging bitch or violent supporter of Superman.

I'm not expecting a Fantagraphics graphic novel either.

What about the Elseworlds Wonder Woman: the Blue Amazon, which served as a companion piece for Superman's Metropolis and Batman: Nosferatu?

I was always curious about it.

Ted McKeever's art is great.

Well, if you do, read it for Superman, since it's pretty much a Superman centric book. Wonder Woman's just terrible in it.

>Morrison's WW Earth One

That shit is Azz-tier 'babbys first WW'

It's alright and it ties the other two together.

wew lad

I will never understand the love of Azz's run. I agree the art sucks (how do you guys seriously prefer flat chest angry warrior bitch to the sweet and attractively shaped Finch art) I actually loved the Finch run because they backed off that horrid God of War crap as best they good, and reeled back WW to show her COMPASSION which is what the character is all about. WW is about finding the least violent solution to a problem, and belief that all life has value, not stabbing shit with swords. Much like a Jedi, for Diana, a weapon should only be drawn when there is no option left on the table.

>I actually loved the Finch run

Jesus...

>Literally asking for introductory WW stories
>recommend introductory WW story
>LOL BABBY'S FIRST WW
You did it, champ.

We're on a roll today.

This seems like it'd be a pretty one sided fight.

I know. Slade is a master at hand-to-hand.

>watching DCAU Justice League
>wanting to know more about WW
I'm curious. What appealed to you, the forced bitchiness or the part about being Batman's cocksleeve instead of being a character in her own right? Or are you just plain old vanilla retarded?

Either way, fuck off with your cancerous rec-fagging.

...

And you sound like a retarded casual who's too damn lazy to find your own reading material. Get out, and don't come back until you have proper knowledge of comics.

>Get out
Make me, bitch.

If you don't know anything about comics, what the fuck are you doing here, if not to shitpost? Your kind is not welcome here. Back to Sup Forums with you.

You're giving me good reasons to stay here.

>the forced bitchiness or the part about being Batman's cocksleeve instead of being a character in her own right?

They weren't even a couple in the cartoon. Wonder Woman was assertive and cheeky, while Batman was basically a tsundere that was crazy about her but was to shy and stunted to show his feelings.

And when was she a bitch? She worked well with the teams, knew how to take orders well and care for all her friends, even Hawkgirl.

He's a casual, user.

So explain exactly what Finch did that was so horrible for WW characterization? Because not liking the art is pretty much all I hear anyone complain about.

I guess you like Zenescope books.

Instead of being sure of herself, competent and assertive, she was reduced into a little girl that'd break down over anything bad that happened and had no control whatsoever of the situation at hand. Fuck, in a issue she breaks down and cry like a little girl.

The constant presence of the Justice League characters.

The undoing of all the development that happened through in Azz's run.

The implication that Wonder Woman only helped baby Zeke because he wanted a child of her own with Superman, turning her actions into a selfish desire for something she hasn't instead of a selfless act of duty and compassion.

The stupid characters that were added. The way it introduced Donna Troy.

The general shitty art and writing.

And you people don't believe me when I try to tell you that rec-fags are in it just to shitpost. Welp, we got a confession right here.

>didn't watch the show
She was a huge asshole in that show, and it planted the idea in many minds that she \'s Miss No fun Allowed.

>rec-fags are in it just to shitpost
Bad news, user: Sup Forums is not your safe space.
>WW should be lelsorandumb
Go back to your GotG threads.

>She was a huge asshole in that show, and it planted the idea in many minds that she \'s Miss No fun Allowed.

What episodes did she act as an asshole? Also, she was very cheeky and could be quite humorous. Specially when paired with certain characters like the Flash, Batman and Hawkgirl.

She was basically a more mature version of George Perez's Wonder Woman. Sure, she was a bit crude in the first season, but she progressed very quickly in the later seasons.

>George Perez's Wonder Woman
I don't think AngryAnon read that book, user.

Have you actually read any Zenescope or are you just trashing the pinup covers? They arent the best, but they aren't Tarot Witch of the Black Rose either.

But user, Meredith Finch began her career at Zenescope! Don't tell me you didn't know?

Ahh yes a superhero showing realistic emotion in difficult situation is bad.

What does that have to do with anything, I'm asking if you given Zenescope books a fair read or if you are just assuming they suck.

You should read more 1950s romance comics; they have all the crying women you want.

Well, you like shit comics so I guess you will love Zenescope.

She's not a little teenager girl that has no mental or emotional fortitude to handle carnage or tough situations, she's an amazon princess that was trained her whole life lead and protect her people. She knows how to handle responsibility, how to deal with tough situations.

She would never break down and cry because she witnessed a ugly scene.

>cheeky and humorous
Yeah, because openly pondering if they should've let that rogue Amazon kill all the men is just so fucking funny.

>more mature version Perez Wondy
I seemed to have missed the part where Perez Diana was an arrogant cunt and frequently condescended to her supposed friends. Go jump off a cliff you fucking retard.

Nice emasculation, bro.

>Yeah, because openly pondering if they should've let that rogue Amazon kill all the men is just so fucking funny.

One episode and she was still fairly new to Man's World. She was even corrected in the episode and watched men and women coming together to handle the aftermath.

>was an arrogant cunt and frequently condescended to her supposed friends.

Where was DCAU Wonder Woman arrogant and condescending?

Don't feed the troll.

Don't defend this shit. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for sexism of any kind in any form. Just do not put it in your story. It's annoying as fuck, it's not interesting, and it's just plain fucking lazy. Fuck that garbage.

>Where was DCAU Wonder Woman arrogant and condescending?
Damn near every scene she's in. That version clearly sees herself as superior to her companions, and thinks lesser of them for it. I'm sorry you're apparently too fucking stupid to see shit writing when it's directly in your face, but whatever.

I know it's not popular with most of Sup Forums, but I unironically like Finch's art purely for the cheesecake factor.

The story was terrible though.

I'm the only one in this board that cares about Wonder Woman

if you like undercooked cheesecake with rotten cheese

I'm a big WW fun too and fuck, man, shit is pure misery.

Question: do people genuinely like Wonder Woman '77?

I'm asking because I do, but sometimes I feel everyone else thinks it's bad

joke's on you, I was only pretending to be you

>Brian Azzarello's run
I always loved the JL cartoon and I only seriously got into WW stuff with the Azzarello books. It's a well-written version of Diana that makes her look really cool.

I remember when Cyclops used to say stuff like this.

Better times.

you have poor taste

>flat chest

stopped reading right there

Can someone please tell me when "well written" started meaning "bland and lacking any agency whatsoever"? Cause I think I may have missed that little changeover.

When you started being a cunt
Seriously, it's not a coincidence

>This triggers the CBR users

Then I suppose it's similarly non-coincidental that someone who thinks making a character into a cookie cutter Xena knockoff just happens to be a drooling moron.

>This amuses the CBR users

>Hurr New 52 WW is Xena

literally the most pleb thing anyone who pretend to have read the book can say

I know a lot of people who didn't like the art at first and then ended up loving it

Read it

Crying over a breakup is not the same as crying over the slaughter of human life. Claiming that Diana should stoically taken in a horrendous scene of carnage and death and that crying because of it makes her weak is incredibly stupid and unrealistic. Thats far more then "just an ugly scene"

The problem is that taken with everything else that happened during the run paint a bad image of Wonder Woman, specially when Wonder Woman as a warrior and hero have faced worse without losing control of her emotions.

Wonder Woman in the Finch's run was unprepared, emotional and lost. It's the Mother M of Nu52 WW.

I can't name one good thing the Finches came up with

She was lost because a role of violence was being forced upon her and she was fighting to remain true to her self. She in fact, wasn't of completely sound mind. I hate calling Wonder Woman a warrior and its destroyed her image to the public as so master of weaponry. A sword shouldn't ever even be in her had. The whole point of the lasso is to subdue violence, but can be a weapon if the situation is dire enough to call for it. Again, to me Wonder Woman is a hero because of her love and compassion for life, so being distraught at a scene of great loss of life IS in character. And its Azzerello's warrior portrayal that is wrong, she's not Red Sonja.

She's a warrior not because she's violent or always ready to kill, but because she was trained to handle and diffuse violence. She can't break down just because she witnessed carnage. Her male friends didn't. So why should she?

Because she is more personally connected to it then they are. Again as I argue she is characterized by her compassion for life. Thus extreme acts of unnecessary lost of life would affect her more strongly.

Nah, she was awful in it. Emotional, totally lost, helpless. Everything bad happened because she was either oblivious or incompetent.

How do you feel about her only helping Zola in the previous because she wanted Superbro's baby of her own and couldn't?

So, who is willing to update it?

Not surprised by retards praising Finches over Azz. I knew some back then. It's like they praised it just out of spite because "muh Diana doesn't throw a punch", even though she was often more reckless, being violent because she was unstable and not because she needed to.

There is a torrent somewhere with the title "Wonder Woman (Pre-New 52)" It was posted several times 3 months ago and it supposedly has everything important - and non important - run before the reboot.
