At what point did erotic film take that nose-dive in quality/effort and just completely abandon any pretense of a story or setup for just straight hardcore scenes without any sense of nuance or buildup?

VHS, and then the internet.

The late 80s/early 90s, after the cultural AIDS panic.

The "reality porn"/Gonzo trend of the early/mid 00s comPOUNDED that.

Basically the internet.
When pornographers could just post the money shots and get the same amount of viewership as those that put in work with story and sets.

>gonzo trend

I'm a porn newbie, what do these terms mean...

When they realized 99% of people dont want anything to do with the male actor
This is why theres still a ton of Lesbian pornos that have a story, set up, acting, etc
Men want to self insert in a hetero flick

>AIDS panic

There's a little-known conspiracy online where people believe that the FBI developed AIDS secretly as a way of attempting to stop the rapid growth of the porn industry.

I disagree, I just think it has to do with the porn industry going cheaper and cheaper...Hiring cheaper cinematographers, cheaper directors, cheaper writers, and wanting it all developed at a much faster pace so they can churn it out as quickly as possible. If you go onto any mainstream porn site like Brazzers, Naughty America, or TeamSkeet, you will notice that there is a substantial difference in how they each handle their "fantasies". Brazzers for instance has a decent build-up, with a lot of varied settings and good camera-work that focuses more on the models and less on the "act" itself (less extreme close-ups, less emphasis on the penetration, than some place like BangBros).

Naughty America has a mild build-up, cheaper sets with less varied locations, and more of an emphasis specifically on the "acts".

TeamSkeet is on a similar level to Brazzers when it comes to the build up and roleplay, although I find that Teamskeet puts more effort into their camera-work and getting good creative shots than either of the other two.

Then there's sites like DigitalPlayground which are genuinely trying to recapture that 80's/70's porn theme of elaborate set ups and porn with an actual budget.

>men want to self insert

That would make sense, if it wasn't for the fact that 95% of Lesbian porn is directed at, and consumed by, hetero men.

They still make those kinds of movies, they're just FAR less common-place than they used to be, and also far less popular.

>I disagree
i'm glad you dis-agree

Two chicks at the same time

around this time

>go on pornhub
>make free account
>search "Full movie"
>????
>PROFIT

>The "reality porn"/Gonzo trend of the early/mid 00s comPOUNDED that.
This. Also the overuse of fish eye lenses. Euro studios just fucking love that shit for some reason

no, there isn't

>VHS, and then the internet.

The correct answer!!!FACT!!!

gonzo is a style of journalism where the reporter gets involved in the scene or event as opposed to merely relying information

in porn it's used for pornos that broke that line between being a "movie" (with scenes, characters, etc) and the porn just happening while the camera is on, with even the cameraman talking with the actors, or like those casting movies where the camera operator is the porn actor

Are they still making pornos that are actually shot on FILM and not just video?

Why don't porn actresses get 90's style breast implants? the new tits are so awful

>story or setup
lol porn that does these things is dumb... like porn parodies of movies and shit. they're always shitty at writing any kind of comedic or dramatic element and the performers are even worse at delivering it
