It's just because of the awful directors cut

What? The dc is what elevates a good movie to fantastic.

I saw this in the theater. We actually bought tickets to Parenthood but sat down in this one by mistake. It started out pretty good so we stayed thankfully.

I'm not sure if I can handle this conversation right now.

WAKE UP YOU BITCH

The entire backlash is over this line.

What backlash?

That it's criminally underrated. Feminazi backlash ripple effect.

It really is, I get it though it's not the same kind of beast as Aliens or T2

>when your first film is easily your best film

I feel like it gets more praise than it used to when it was just dismissed out of hand. But it still feels really underrated to me

...

What is it usually rated? What do you rate it? What did you rate 2001?

...

i think it's rated just fine, and you're just posting it to be contrarian

>DUDE stop killing each other or we'll kill all of you LMAO
Fuck those aliens. That was a bad ending, not a positive one.

>my name is nobody
my nigger. got one of my favourite sountracks, too

>What is it usually rated?
Like 6-7/10 and it's generally being shat upon because it's not 2001.

>What do you rate it?
9/10 great fucking tense proper sci-fi with top tier model work and practical visuals and great political premise.

>What did you rate 2001?
It's a work of art by autistic auteur rather than a movie and it can't really be quantified in the same way. It deserves the praise for breakthrough SFX, direction and themes, but I don't think it holds up as a movie you just sit down to watch.

Yeah and that's the awful directors cut alternate ending.

Do I need to see 2001 to understand anything in 2010? I've seen 2001 but it's been awhile.

My vote. I think it's because a lot of people wrote it off as a super dumb comic book action flick.

Not really, you should be good with what you remember, or read a general synopsis of 2001 to refresh.

1. Apes
2. Moon
3. Dave
4. Baby

More importantly:

- HAL
- Discovery One
- Jupiter

In whichever order.

Well right Hal and Dave.

Is Discovery One the apes?

A moon of Jupiter right?

Im not going to lie, before seeing it I thought it was just some cheap licensed shit that Id sweep from memory after a few days and only actually watched it when I got it on blue ray, Im going to go ahead and say that alot of people thought this, everything about its release was small and made me believe it was something even the produced didnt care about. It deserves a shot at a sequel.

You're thinking too far now, just remember what happened in 2001 on a superficial level (Discovery effectively becoming abandoned in orbit) and you're good to go.

>(Discovery effectively becoming abandoned in orbit)
Awesome thanks, I'll watch it again then.

Have fun user, good night.

Isn't it getting a TV show spinoff?

First Im hearing.

I'd like it better if it didn't lift leitmotifs from previous Leone movies.

Found it.
