Full Metal Jacket has a scene where the recruits discuss the fact that Lee Oswald learned how to shoot in the Marines. Private Snowball calls the book depository building - a book "suppository" building. Maybe hinting at the story being "shit" or something. Later in the movie there is a "where is the sniper ?" scene with some weird blood spray and corpse mangling. I think the jelly donut is the give away. Even though it's not quite true, at the time it was a big joke. It was even spoofed on The Simpsons in the 90's. see
