Scanners has an awesome theme. You know you're about to see some nutty shit after hearing it.
/hor/ General - Cronenberg Edition

was about to make a new thread. didnt realize the last was close to dying. 60s horror movies look so good.
I'm watching Dawn of the Dead, god this movie is bad.
Agreed. Zack Snyder's remake is atrocious.
60's was a very underrated decade. It had some of the most important horror films of all time.
Now that I look at this. Really wish I had swapped Kuroneko with Jigoku. It's a much more interesting and ambitious film.
is The Dead Zone worth watching?
Very. One of Christopher Walken's best performances. It's not as horror related as Cronenberg's other films, but it has it's moments and it's an overall really enjoyable movie.
how british is peeping tom? please dont tell me people talk like this in it
youtube.com
what are some horror films that are more on the art side of filmmaking? I’ve enjoyed things like Possession, Rosemary’s baby, Nosferatu or Peeping Tom, but other horror films that are truer to the genre just come off as goofy or comedic.
I don’t want to sound pretentious, it’s just what I enjoy more
Les Yeux sans visage maybe
It's one of Cronenberg's worst. Martin Sheen is pretty good in it though.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Let's Scare Jessica to Death. Also, learn to appreciate goofiness and comedy. Rosemary's Baby has plenty of both.
I thought Scanners was pretty bad.
I’ve already seen that, I liked the eerie atmosphere whenever the girl is on the screen, but it didn’t do much for me aside from that.
I’ll watch this
>I’ll watch this
Haxan is the superior silent horror movie.
I don't like Scanners either but i'd say on the whole Cronenberg is mostly good.
Day of the Dead sucks
I see what you're doing, and I don't appreciate it
It takes place in England but I didn't really think of it as being very British. The main actor is Austrian or some shit. He gives a very Peter Lorre vibe. It's so fucking good. The use of color is gorgeous and a lot of the movie is seen through the lenses of his camera making it the first Found Footage kind of style movie. At least one of the first. It predates Psycho by like a month I believe
>It's one of Cronenberg's worst
Actually from a critical perspective, it's one of the best. It's just not as Cronenbergy as you'd like it to be.
This one has a whole convoluted history behind it, I don't remember off the top of my head but wasn't it too close to the source material and banned or lost for a long time?
thanks i ill give it a go then
THE ICE IS GONNA BREAK!
>horror films that are more on the art side of filmmaking?
The silent German Expressionist films
Vampyr
The Uninvited
House of Wax
Some of the Hammer gothic films
House of Usher
Eyes Without a Face
Peeping Tom
Jigoku
Abominable dr. Phibes
Eraserhead
Hausu
Nosferatu the Vampyre (essential)
Suspiria
Coppola's Dracula
Candyman (it might seem surprising but once you watch it, you'll understand)

>banned
Don't recall but possible. It sort of ended the director's career.
>lost
nah
>House of Wax
paris hilton lookin fine af in dat moobie bru
You know exactly which one I mean.
what do I watch tonight /hor/
or do I just watch another episode of masters of horror?
It's almost all newer shit though and not even decent newer shit. Go with either Autopsy of Jane Doe, Dark Water or House 1977.
Hausu was a complete waste of time. Jap garbage.
Dark Water is Jap shit to but you didn't even bother commenting on that. Oh I wonder.
>watching horror films all night
>dog comes up behind my chair and barks
Jesus Christ.
What's Dead Zone like?
This is actually a pretty decent thread with not a whole lot of shitposting. I shall reward it with this .gif from the iconic Night of the Demons.
>Guy has good life
>Has Accident
>Wakes up up 5 years later due to coma
>life is shit
>has power to predict future
>public is interested
>is asked to help catch serial killer
>later he sees the future and a world ending crisis
>it's up to him stop it.
It's pretty fucking dope.
Do people really leave the file names like that...? It hurts my eyes.
>It hurts my eyes.
should get your autism fixed, user.
What are some 10/10 horror movies?
Suspiria
yeah thats what happens when you want to know what you downloaded. but continue watching shit quality movies on the internet.
Just like things less cluttered, is all. Film title + year, that's all I care about.
im deleting them all after I watch them
There aren't too many 10/10's but I will do my best.
Invisible Man
Vampyr
Diabolique
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Psycho
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Hausu
Exorcist
Nosferatu 1979
Wicker Man
Theater of Blood
An American Werewolf in London
Re-Animator
Cronenberg's The Fly (really more like a 9/10)
John Carpenter's The Thing
Silence of the Lambs
There are some I really wish to add but I think they just might be too flawed to consider a 10.
>Attended a theater test screening of the film Spider (not horror) with Cronenberg himself present.
>After the film there was to be a constructive Q & A feedback session.
>M.C. and Cronenberg emphatically state over and over to keep the questions and feedback limited to Spider.
>Begins addressing patrons with raised hands.
>"At the end of Scanners when......"
>"In Videodrome, what did "long live the new flesh...."
>"That part, um, in eXistenZ with the spores..."
>Cronenberg is becoming visibly pissed, staring intensely through his metallic glasses frames in disappointment.
>M.C. says "Guys, please stay focused."
>"In Spider, Ralph Feinnes is always smoking hand rolled cigarettes."
>"Yes?"
>"Dude, weed?"
>*Cronenberg glare intensifies*
>Hausu
>Hausu was a complete waste of time.
who do I believe?
Start it and find out
That's a shame. Spider is actually not half bad.
Hausu is an absurdist masterpiece. It's amazing. Other guy is a shitposter who hates all japanese films
No it's a goofy film that is more of a jap art project than a horror film
It's fun with plenty of horror elements.
It's so perfectly shot to be creepy. The richness in every camera movie movement, sound, and the attention to the sets.
>douge walker says the halloween remake is the second best halloween movie
He's a godawful director.
>Doug confirmed for shit taste
This is news now?
Wtf my drive is almost full already and i don't have a spare at the moment.
What should i delete in order to obtain some horror movies for Halloween night?
delete LAWD UH DUH RANGZ nigga
>11 days until the faggot OP goes back to twin peaks posting
can't wait.
What does this even mean? Are you just autistcally rambling about nonsense?
