If three dragons' eggs could buy Viserys a large army and ships to carry them over the ocean, why did Illyrio even bother marrying Dany off to the Dothraki? Why not just sell them directly?
I mean why carry out such a convoluted plan when there was no guarantee the Dothraki would even cross the narrow sea and uphold their end of the bargain?
Tyler Lee
She didn't have the eggs yet.
Aaron Sanchez
Illyrio had them and he's team Targaryian restoration. Why doesn't he just sell them and use the money to buy Viserys an army?
Michael Miller
Why would dragon eggs fetch that much? Aren't they just an oddity with no real use to people besides her?
Jose Lopez
Viserys and Jorah both seemed to think they'd still be really valuable when Viserys was trying to steal them.
Nathaniel Roberts
Where does it say that three petrified dragon eggs could finance and feed an entire army?
Jeremiah Roberts
Viserys says it when he's stealing them. Jorah asks why he's taking three and Viserys says he needs a large army.
Nolan Williams
Dothraki are honest people.
Xavier Thompson
Viserys is notoriously delusional and unable to adapt to life in Easteros.
He also could have been lying, so he had an excuse to fuck over Dany.
Elijah Mitchell
how would taking away the eggs if they were supposedly worthless fuck her over?
Sebastian Richardson
In that case, it's because they were a gift and she actually liked having them. He's just being petty.
Josiah Wilson
Because, "convelooted plans = smarhtz!"
Cooper Green
>the extent got fags will go to to defend their precious show instead of just admitting that maybe it's a plothole and moving on
jee whizz
Jose Bennett
There are plenty of character inconsistencies. Viserys being a petty, delusional bitch isn't one of them, though.
Noah Hughes
whatever helps you sleep my man
Lucas White
well lots of valuable things are useless
Anthony Cox
If you thought the Dothraki were going to hold up their end of the bargain, why give such a valuable wedding present at all?
Jonathan Campbell
Of course it sounds stupid if you start thinking and asking questions. Just focus on the funny tribal sex fight. Those crazy savages :^)
Jace Collins
>If three dragons' eggs could buy Viserys a large army and ships to carry them over the ocean, why did Illyrio even bother marrying Dany off to the Dothraki? Why not just sell them directly?
Because they couldn't buy shit diddly. He gave them because while somewhat valuable for novelty, they weren't worth much.
>I mean why carry out such a convoluted plan when there was no guarantee the Dothraki would even cross the narrow sea and uphold their end of the bargain?
Because the plan was never to put Viserys on the throne. They knew Viserys would never survive the Dothraki and they assumed Daenerys was never going to survive Drogo's cock, literally.
Charles Bailey
What was the plan then?
Julian Torres
Did you just assume the gender of that poster? Not okay
Austin Bailey
aegon VI must be the real plan. but then the daenerys plot don't make sense. we dont know yet what was the real plan of ilirio, even we don't know if aegon is real. some say that the plan was to put viserys in front of the dothraki horde, invade westeros, making havoc and weakening the lords, then aegon could save the realm from the destruction with the golden company, gaining the hearts of the people. but that is too convoluted.
Sebastian Watson
Realistically the Dothraki couldn't really achieve much.
Leo Martinez
yes. btw what happend with /got/? was nuked?
Ayden Butler
Because everyone thought they were petrified and were never going to hatch.
Alexander Lewis
Yeah same as the 2015 ban, but since /who/ is still allowed in its off season and they let /tpg/ stick around however they want I'm assuming the real reason is that the mods were sick of the amount of reports coming out of /got/, mainly because of one router-resetting spammer. Some stragglers moved the general to /trash/ but it's even slower than normal off season there.
Xavier Powell
and the emiliatard with their constant repetitive shipping trash was annoying too but idk if people reported that for spam or if the mods really cared about all that low quality shit
Samuel Parker
Yes.
It's what happens when r/ASOIAF takes over. People who have far more emotional investment in this thing then that then actual author does. The show at least has focus and endgame goals.
Carson Lopez
>What was the plan then?
Use Dany and Viserys to muster the Dothraki/Drogo to cross the narrow sea and attempt to raid Westeros.
Then, in their time of peril, Young Griff/Aegon the VI comes in and rallies the Lords of Westeros to push them back and defeat them. Proving himself a worthy king over Robert and his sons, the lords and commonfolk declare for Aegon VI.
Juan Lopez
just leave
Justin Sanders
looks like the mods are making their job r_/ptg/ nuke when?
David Williams
A mercenary army has no loyalty, they might be able to win some battles for you, but they'll never stick around unless you keep paying them and providing for them. A proper army is more legit.
Plus the plan was to eventually anger the Dothraki enough to cross the sea, Dany's death might've been enough, no way they didn't figure Robert would try to have her assassinated as soon as he learned she married Drogo
