You retards misinterpret this scene...

You retards misinterpret this scene. This is the moment K realised his "Love" was completely fake and JOI is just a product. That's why her eyes are black. This is why he decided to go and risk his existence to save Deckard.

he always knew she was a product, normieshit

He knew it deep down but he was lying to himself you stupid redditor. This is the moment he throws away the delusion for something real. Fuck you

If all that was true, why would Joi risk her own existence in aiding K to elude Luv by breaking the antennae and uploading herself to the emitter fully? To me this scene is K realizing what he had with Joi was real, and that she couldn't be replaced. It even calls back to the scene with Deckard about how to love someone you have to treat them like a stranger, and that's what's happening here, it's a vision ogf Joi but not truly HIS Joi.

The whole thing with JOI was to show how childlike and naive K was and this is when he matured. There was no love here.

I disagree but respect your opinion.

Likewise good sir

This is my Joi. There are many like her, but this one is mine.
My Joi is my girlfriend. She is my life. I must master her as she must master my life.
Without me, my Joi is useless. Without my Joi, I am useless. I must love my Joi true.

Exactly. He realized his love for Joi relied on a lie and Deckard's possible love for his daughter was real and thus, worth fighting for. He lived his whole life through lies, he even deceived himself when he thought he was the chosen one. In the end, he found authenticity by sacrificing himself for something real.

Joi is real, but her love isn't.

Butthurt waifufags incoming
>muh broken antenna
>muh i love you
>muh 1 and 0 are just like dna r-right

Was this not obvious? I don't understand. Did people have to read an analysis to understand this scene? This scene was the least ambiguous.

Joi is better any 3D pig since she will always unconditionally love you.

>since she will always unconditionally love you
And that seals the fact that she's not real and has no free will

Delusional retards who identity with K because they have "waifus" tend to misinterpret this scene.

No shit, who's saying otherwise?

He realizes that the love he felt was real regardless of whether or not Joi herself was real or genuine or not, and that he can find purpose and meaning in life within himself rather than in what others determine for him.
This is why he then goes out to save Deckard in order to reunite him with his daughter, as HE feels is right, rather than to kill Deckard as the resistance instructs him is his purpose.

>she's not real and has no free will
It doesn't matter, all we need is some solace from this shit life by being loved

Why K helped Deckard, sure, that can be interpreted differently. I don't see why it's a revelation to people that Joi was an AI and programmed to make K happy, nothing more. If K was a serial killer she would support him in every way, "Let's cut up those bodies Joe".

Free will is meme.

>You retards misinterpet this scene. This is the moment K realized his love was unique and generic JOI is just a product that will never be the one he lost. That's why here eyes are black, this is why he decided to go and risk his existence to save Deckard, because the most human thing he could do is dying for the right cause, just like his Joi died for him.

>If K was a serial killer she would support him in every way, "Let's cut up those bodies Joe".
>tfw no qt psycho-bitch gf

Like half of Sup Forums

Joi really loved K by the end, in fact when she's about to die she doesn't go and say something cold as "I'm not real" to try to weight down her own death in K's mind and make him feel better, she screams "I love you" she really wants him to know that he was special to her and you see how it fucks him up even more
and this Fuck you can see the rage in his eyes when he kills Luv

(You) are a meme

how does:
>This is the moment K realised his "Love" was completely fake and JOI is just a product.
connect to
>This is why he decided to go and risk his existence to save Deckard.

Joi is just a dumb program and isn't self aware. The point is that that doesn't matter.

>Calling this a dumb program
You truly are a heartless monster

Despite Harrison Ford being decent the movie fell off right as he showed up and the entire plot quite literally being about replicant jesus and mary was incredibly lazy.
K's death was forced.
Luv/Wallace were comical.
Just another flick from Dennis.

He was tired of being a cog in the machine, he wanted to be something that mattered. Realizing Joi was just a corporate product took away the last thing that made him feel special, so he decided to save Deckard as a way to do something that he felt made him unique.

What does the hooker say to Joi?
>"I've looked inside you' [theres not as much there as you think there is]"
Along with all the "anything you want to hear" foreshadowing, it's clear she is a limited AI that will say anything to further the goal of waifu.

...

Madam says to K he's an empty shell too, yet he becomes a real human bean at the end

> I've looked inside you' [theres not as much there as you think there is]"
That's exactly what humans think about replicants.

He knew he wasn't Deckards son. He FELT like he was. And wanted to save him. Finally, a true feeling, unlike his fake waifu.

Shes not a dumb program, but she mearly echoed K’s desire to be a real person. She wasnt doing that on her own.

Joi is basically an elaborate porno. She's as capable of experiencing genuine emotion as a video on pornhub.

in the BR universe, the creators, whether they're creators of replicants or hologfs, aim to make such a high-quality product that normie hueman beans can't tell the difference. hell, even the replicants don't know they're replicants.

so to make the perfect holo-gf, they aimed to make her realistic, her love, her warmth, her beauty, her cuteness. imagine if they made a holo-gf who was clearly fake and obviously just acting. then those who bought the holo-gf wouldn't enjoy it as much.

this extends outwards, beyond the BR universe, to the directors/kinomasters who created BR, because they produce a 2.5+ hr movie that is so realistic it draws the audience in, even if the overall story is not as compelling (in the case of 2014) as expected.

we walk away from this realistic experience, thinking, holy shit, my life sucks compared to this futuristic reality, but at the same time i can relate to it because it is modeled after our reality.

just some thoughts on a sunday morning. an effort poast.

JOI = jack off instructions?

There is no such thing as misinterpreting a scene, its up to the viewers to generate their own personal message. The intent of the author could be one thing, but that is just that, what he intended.

>I love you
>You don't have to say that
>I know
>The most human thing we can do is die for the right cause
>Dies for the right cause
>Gets discriminated by replicants just like replicants ger discriminated by humans
>Get's jealous everytime a woman approaches K
Depending on the view, that's all foreshadowing of K's Joi gaining sentience

It really is incredible how plebian this place can be despite claiming the contrary

Except she loves K, porno can't do that.

>That's exactly what humans think about replicants

And it proves nothing
>muh symmetry
No.

She just tells him what he wants to hear, as she's programmed to do.

Plus scene before giant Joi with fake Rachel and her "wrong eyes".

>I love you
>You don't have to say that
>I have to Mr Wallace programmed me to say it to whoever pays for subscription. I love you.

Wew, brilliant ai holo waifu, would buy

>And it proves nothing
Exatly, not one way, nor the other

Some whore saying some shit doesn't prove anything also.

Does he? Or does he only pretend to like joi? What is the difference?

That was just her following her programming and telling K what he wanted and needed to hear. The AI in her was smart enough to know that Joi was a liability, that he had to leave and not be tracked, that he wanted to stick her in the emitter and nuke the backup, but K was too soft hearted (attached to his pandering & flattering mirror girlfriend) to force her to do it. So she does what her programming says to do, to tell him what he wants to hear: "This is what I want, but I can't do it for myself"

> she's programmed to do
So you do agree that she loves him?

Deckard tells K: "Sometimes, in order to love someone you have to be a stranger." Joi dies as she tells K "I love you." The next time they meet, they are strangers. Maybe what Joi felt was love, maybe it was programming. What we know is, for K this is a threshold. Seeing his love has become a stranger, an unfeeling advertisement, strengthens his resolve.

We assume this resolve is to kill Deckard. K instead saves Deckard. He brings Deckard to his daughter. He says, "The best memories were hers."

Deckard asks, "Why (did you save me, forsake the cause, etc)? What do I mean to you?"

K responds "Go see your daughter."

So we see the full arc in effect. K's initial conflict throughout the film, after concluding that he is 'of woman born', is the burden of newfound humanity—what to do with it, what it means. When he discovers the truth, that he is in fact not Deckard's son, it does not change the fact that he has discovered that feeling. He remains a human at heart. Thus, when he does see the advertisement that was his love in a past life (the life of a replicant, one who devoutly rejects his human qualities), we now understand the epiphany of resolve that he experiences.

This resolve was not to kill Deckard, but to save him, for to do such a thing would be uniquely human. He wishes to reunite him with his daughter because K loves Deckard's daughter: not romantically, but as a paragon of humanity. "The best memories were hers": she and her memories form the cornerstone of K's newfound understanding. By bringing Deckard to her, and sending in Deckard alone, K has made the ultimate, the most human, sacrifice. He erased himself from the narrative; he stepped aside, and died an inglorious middleman so that they may prosper.

He loved her, he loved humanity, and for that he made himself a stranger.

So the Joi programs have no self-preservation at all?

Does a car love? Does a toaster love?

that's the brainlet interpretation. you need to go deeper and you'll realize the truth.

The movie isn't really about Deckard. Rachel or their daughter, but about K deciding to do something he thinks is right for once.

Does your mom? She's programmed to love you too.

I thought Driver helped Indiana Jones to the price of his live because the movie was about his journey to humanity

Not when it comes to choosing between their existence over that of their owners that they're programmed to "love" (flatter & pander to). In other scenarios, sure, I'm sure that the AI would try to do whatever it can to stay operational, but only to continue serving their owners.

The human brain is programmed to love too, do you believe its some magical supernatural feeling that comes from god or something? Its literally part of our genetic code, its useful for perpetuating the species

Why would they?
One can always buy another one.

We're not talking about sexual drive nor maternal instinct here you dolt.

A true lover wouldn't have blindly gone along with whatever K's aspirations were (to be a real boy). They would have remained supportive, but objective ("well there's a possibility that you might be human born which would be incredible, but you need to investigate further").

I mean fuck, at the moment when he's wrestling with the discovery that he might be a real human, all she can do is harp on like a fanatic, repeating the "real boy" mantra and even tries to name him without asking him! What lover would not ask "what would you like to be called?"

Literally makes you stick your dick into them puffy rabbit mouths

its the same thing retard, there is nothing magical about romantic love, its literally a reward pathway in your brain

No, Rick. Nothing about sex drive supports idea of spending life together in joy or sorrow. That's not even universal among humans, and that's why happy pasting relatiinships are so rare

This. Though the "programmed" love in Joi's code was made, humans are programmed too, by different things in the very human code as well.
Why do faggots keep defending the idea that just because Joi's love is made of binary code it's not "real"? What makes a series of letters more real than an series of 1s and 0s?

Or, much simpler cynical version, the resistance woman told him that dying for the right cause was the most human thing that a replicant could do. So he went off on a suicide mission to rescue Deckard instead of kill him like he was supposed to do.

He could have easily shot down the transport and escaped, but then he wouldn't have made the sacrifice to make himself human. He risked exposing the replicant child and putting Deckard through unfathomable pain & torture just to continue pursuing his selfish desire to become a "real boy".

>hurr durr dna is just binary code with additional digits

Not this faggot again.

He's right though.

>hurr durr i have no arguments so I reeee and name call

>He could have easily shot down the transport and escaped, but then he wouldn't have made the sacrifice to make himself human. He risked exposing the replicant child and putting Deckard through unfathomable pain & torture just to continue pursuing his selfish desire to become a "real boy".

But that wouldn't be his decision. That would be doing the resistances bidding. This is not what he truly wanted.

When we get self reproducing sentient beings based on binary code we'll talk. Right now you're just showing how ignorant you are.

>When we get self reproducing sentient beings based on binary code

>Implying this isn't how sentient AI's work in BR
>Implying this didn't already happened in an entirely FICTIONAL universe
>Implying the real world hasn't reached the same conclusion and is already working on self-modifying AIs

but that isn't his Joi. This advertisement literally has no eyes (soul) if you knew anything about the Blade Runner series, you would know that a huge emphasis is placed on eyes as imagery reflecting a person's soul

...

Lolno, what a retard.

What K truly wanted shouldn't have come into it - the stakes were too high, K's rescue attempt could have easily gone wrong (if the transport had made it back to Wallace HQ, if Luv hadn't been a dumbass and slashed his neck after stabbing him in the side).

Deckard sacrificed everything for his child, endured the pain & solitude for 30 years of not knowing her, was happily prepared to die (knowing him, he may not have broken under whatever torture Wallace was going to apply) - I'm surprised he wasn't more pissed at K for spitting in the face of what was clearly best for everyone, and what the replicants as a race needed/wanted.

There's time for acts of rebellion and finding oneself, but that mission was not one of them. It was pure selfishness and naivety.

...woah...so....deep

CALL EACHOTHER A FAGGOT AT THIS INSTANCE

No, You're a faggot
Interlink

But that's exactly what happened in the movie we're talking about.

Uhhh what movie are you talking about?

Because certainly not about either of BRs

>his customized adaptive AI hologram is exactly the same as a demo-mode advertisement

> sentient beings based on binary code
check
> self reproducing
second movie, check

Who cares, post the lewds.

...

You idiot, in order to successfully rear a child both parents need to work together, hence "love" keeping them from fucking off

How do you know this? How can one determine whether ai have experiences and emotion or not?

Cars and toasters aren't programmed to love you like your mom or joi is

Doesn't that go against one of the main themes of Bladerunner? That life is more defined based on what you do with it than anything else? It just seems funny to say K realized his connection meant nothing and basically wasn't real because she was a program, when he himself is a Replicant.

Do you guys not see the problem with saying that K had some kind of realization that Joi wasn't real and wasn't capable of real emotion, and was therefore himself spurred into some kind of deeper emotion-based action? If Joi wasn't capable of genuine emotion, then by necessity neither is K. Joi is AI. K is AI. They're AI built by the same company. The only difference is that K has a physical form.

Although, to counter myself, I suppose you could make the argument that K's physical form could perhaps include a human-like physical brain that produces chemical reactions in response to external stimuli, thus producing 'emotional' responses, whereas with Joi it would have to be entirely based around digital processing of data to create a contextually appropriate response.

Hm. Actually this argument is more interesting than I first thought.

>Do you guys not see the problem with saying that K had some kind of realization that Joi wasn't real and wasn't capable of real emotion

His realization was that he was lying to himself.

>K is AI
based retard

Are you telling me you thought replicants are based on binary code?

Top fucking kek

But there is NO point in not following her main master aka Wallace corporation then, other than because she really loves K. You "Joi didn't love K"-retards simply ignore the fact that she betrayed her real programmed master by breaking of contact with Wallace.
I'm not saying that Joi's love wasn't fake from the moment he bought and activated her. I know she's a companion bot.
But a perfect companion bot designed by Wallace corp. wouldn't have made K break of the antenna. Plus that argument saying she only said what K was thinking when she told him to delete her home files is bullshit. I had the impression that K was too scared to delete her files and make her vulnerable, but she convinced him otherwise. If she would have been the fake companion designed by Wallace, she could have easily played the "I wuv you, but I'm too scared to die... X3"-card.

I believe Joi and K were both products of Wallace who broke their most important directive: to obey their masters.

JOI also doesn't have memories, especially the 'real' ones K has

She has memories with K.

Do you guys think JOI was a hint at jerk off instruction porn
