Thank you

Kirby was trying too hard.

...

I don't know if he had time to "try too hard" at this time in his life. He was writing and pencilling multiple comics at the same time.

I'll be more talkative here in a bit. I'm trying getting all the OMAC backups from Warlord together.

No Problem

Awww fuck yeah, OMAC!

...

...

...

...

ooh I've never read those. Just this, the Byrne mini, and New 52

> trying too hard
That's a funny accusation now since at the time he was being called a hack

...

...

...

I'm definitely going to do the Warlord backups from the late 70's and the John Byrne series. Probably the 2006 series as well.....and maybe the issues of Countdown OMAC is in......maybe. I'm not really chomping at the bit to read any Countdown.

Most of Kirby's work from the 70's has this opening rhythm and I really like it. The

The sad part is, some lonely child would be thrilled at the thought of Build A Friend.

The stories always start off big, contract, and then explode again. The pacing is fantastic.

This was always so weird to me

...

It's bizarre as hell. The face between the legs is this unsettling combination of birthing and sexual imagery.

Kirby predicting weebs and otakus

There's some throw away line in OMAC that is really similar to online dating

"tantrum rooms" aren't far off. A STARTLING LOOK!

I have not been able to get this out of my head recently

oh man

its kind of depressing that they thought NASA would be "immensely expanded" in the future

I bet Kirby was one of those people who wept watching the moon landing

That or he was at his drawing table

...blow ups?

I have to attribute that kind of chunkiness to the fact that he's in his 60's doing these comics. He's gonna sound a little old timer-ish. He was born in 1917.

I'm sorry, 50's. brain fart.

...

you can tell from a lot of the backmatter essays in his comics that he was fascinated with all that stuff.

Stuff like Devil Dinosaur and Kamandi were influenced by his exposure to new evolutionary science and anthropology. He was soaking all of this stuff up and it shows in his comics.

Steve Martin?

that thing is the big red monster from Fantastic Four #1.

SEE! It grew up!

I'm done with the main storytime for the night.

Here's Paul Pope's...cover song I think is the best term...of OMAC.
