A lot of creators who were children in that era who're coming up now were considerably less educated and less exposed to media outside of their own box of fandom shit compared to how a lot of directors and also animators were in the 50s-70s and earlier who came from an array of backgrounds instead of "grew up loving 80s horror movies" or whatever the fuck.
