That's IT!
Anime is miles better than cartoon.

Nice 2FPS animation. Now fuck off back to Sup Forums with your Jap trash.

I wish we could kind Japanese animation with Western characters. I much prefer the variety in character personalities that American cartoons can have vs. "cute girl whose pander gimmick is ____".

yes, i greatly prefer the 30fps motion tweening of our beloved american cartoons

Bait. All anime is objectively cancer and trash. Everybody who likes it deserves to be destroyed

>anime as a whole
No
>good anime vs good cartoons
It's close, but too subjective to call.
>best anime vs best cartoons
jojo is the best non-English cartoon

I prefer my cartoons to be animated, and many western cartoons are still animated frame-by-frame. I look at the webm posted and all I see is dishonest cartooning. Everything is exaggerated and smeared for the sake of it yet there is no convincing sense of weight. It's even harder to take Japanese animation seriously when they can't even animate proper lip-sync.

nigga anime is a type of cartoon

Gold star, user.
That being said, I think a lot of the better anime series end up falling into "good despite itself". It's not that the flaws you mentioned go away, it's just that they don't seem so major. I guess most good cartoons could arguably fit in the same category. Obviously there's never been anything anywhere that's "perfect", but still.

There are good anime.
There are good cartoons.

Good shows are good.

You're both wrong. |t's literally just the Japanese word for cartoon. Dexter's Lab, Transformers, The Loud House, they're all anime.

Sure, that's how it works in Japan. But for the rest of the world it means Japanese cartoons.

Anime is better because animation isn't seen as a childish. Animators can then grow up aspiring to do more than just cater to 8 year olds. Because a career in animation is therefore more desirable in Japan and Korea they have both more skill and manpower than animators in the West generally do.

Shit, I guess I should watch this.

You sound like a fourteen year old who swears too much because he thinks it makes him sound more mature.

Also, you're confirming me suspicion about weeaboos. They like it because it's a cartoon, but they think it's more "mature."

nice bait

The truth is the best bait ever, because it stays there, in people's faces, for eternity.

This
But I would love ankama adapt one of the part even if David production does a really good job

>That's IT! OP will never get laid

But that show has really shitty cliche writting.

''The fat girl, get this, is always eating as a joke!''

You have LITERALLY no idea what you're talking about. Nobody on Sup Forums knows shit about animation but everyone acts like an expert because they watch cartoons.

>I wish we could kind Japanese animation with Western characters.

It reminds me about that one anime about people working at a Anime studio.

All the male characters looked unique, like real people while the female characters had the same face and looked like Haruhi, SAO, etc

Did you baka gaijin white piggus never consider that maybe the rest of the world should use glorious Nippon's own words the way they themselves use them?

Not that user, but he could have meant that if shows like his pic related, didn't have to appeal to a certain age group they would be different somehow.

That other user has a point and you don't have to be a pro on animation in order to notice the shitty writting that Japanese people have when it comes to creating female characters.

The OP show is an example of that, the animation is really good but the characters are annoying, cliche, predictable and they barely do anything with them that doesn't seem like a paint by numbers arc.

My problem with this is that while there is a lot of animation, and it is certainly ambitious, there is no good feeling of weight or momentum here. There seems to just be a lot of movement for the sake of movement. I couldn't even tell that she was wrapping a chain around herself until she was done and it actually showed me the chain.

Sometimes, anime seems like an awful lot of talent and effort, but with shit/no direction at all. This is why those cartoons in the '90s that were animated by TMS look so damn good.

>doesn't swear at all
>You sound like you swear too much.
This is what one calls projecting.

Well that's a stupid thing to think.
Cartoons and anime are mediums of entertainment, with no differentiation in some vague geographic origin difference.
They're both too broad in what is in them for one to be subject to superiority.

You could state the opinion that "I think (this anime) is better than (this cartoon)", which is debatable.
But to say anime is better than cartoons is to say that the worst anime in yours or anyone's opinion (which could be some forgotten $10 budget anime from the 60s) is better than the best cartoon (which could be some beautifully drawn compelling animated movie).
And to think that is stupid.

Anime is not even a real japanese word

Oh shit the LWA show is out?!

I used pic related because for that episode Sugar brought in a Japanese animator. That's why the episode had much better flow and action. Western animators generally lacked that skill relative to Japan and Korea.

but smearing and exaggeration are pinnacle tenets of animation

it's literally squash and stretch

Just because something is a cliche doesn't mean it can't be funny.

>posting a shit-tier example of great japanese animation

>That other user has a point and you don't have to be a pro on animation in order to notice the shitty writting that Japanese people have when it comes to creating female characters.
Wah, feminism hasn't infected Nippon yet, how problematic!

>can't even animate proper lip-sync
This. It's so fucking lazy. Even worse when you watch something with its original language and you realize they don't even fucking time the dialogue with the lip flaps. Mouths start moving an entire second too early/late, and don't take into account any pauses or inflections. I suppose it's just a matter of priorities, though. Even the cheapest western cartoons tend to have competent lip-sync.

>wanting japan to be as pozzed as western comics

I just want to Japan to know sex usually isn't a competition.

I'm tired of girls in doujins being like "Nooo I can't lose to his dick!"

Anime has horrible slice of life.
King of The Hill and Ed edd n eddy are better than anything anime has done in that genre.

That's it, Ben 10 is better than anime

>this
>good
I actually enjoyed One-Punch Meme, but I watched it less than a year ago and I don't even remember this forgettable scribbling. The fuck is even going on?

>You are a feminist if you don't like brain dead boring characters

Well, I can't watch stuff with subpar writting, that's why I don't like most anime.

The writting is borderline retarded more often than not, they can't do subtle dialogue at all.

On a cartoon a simple scene of ''Hey, that guy is fighting with my friend, so he must be a bad guy!'' without having to stop and explain every single detail about the scene as if the audience was retarded.

And al ot of that bad writting shows with their female characters, Kill La Kill has great animation but the writting makes the whole thing unwatchable

Jojo is fucking garbage. do you even watch anime?

>Well, I can't watch stuff with subpar writting, that's why I don't like most anime.
>The writting is borderline retarded more often than not, they can't do subtle dialogue at all.
This. It seems so fucking obvious, but nobody seems to ever call them out on it. Thanks, user, I no longer feel like I am the only one taking crazy pills.

What do you like user?

>Kill La Kill
>great animation

Boros is flying so fast that he's turning his kinetic energy into destructive power

It's better with music, I tell ya

>Jojo is fucking garbage

JoJo is brilliant, it might be the only decent anime and manga being made beyond Dragon Ball Super, Drifters and Tiger Mask

Hey, I was only talking about the animation itself. I'm not interested in making an issue of the writing. That isn't to say I disagree with what you're saying, though.

Come on user, studio trigger is cheating

>jojo is the best non-English cartoon
I have a ton of friends who are all weebs, and they know of my general distaste for anime. They're always on a quest to find something that will appeal to me, and they all seemed to agree that I would LOVE Jojo, and that it's not like anime at all.
>agree to sit and watch it
>it's the same shit as every other anime
I feel like there's just something about anime that some people are genetically disposed to love or hate, like with cilantro or brussel sprouts.

The thing is, rewatching shitty 90's cartoon this used to be normal in even shitty shows.
Even the Simpsons, despite not being action shows, delivered great camera work back in the days.

Watch Kaiji. It doesn't feel like an anime at all and I am pretty sure you would like it.

>Dragon Ball Super
>decent

Standard quality fight at best, and that's when they even were fighting, so much talking.
Nice meme kid.

I like that the women actually act like women who want to do things like make lunch for the guy they like and dress feminine rather than being spunky, snarky, sarcastic, backtalking grrrl power rebels who don't need no man. I have no problem with women saving the world I just could do without the attitude.

I personally can't stand the way Jojo looks. I mean it's technically proficient but the way it's stylized comes off so hideous to me.

Not the other user, but they used the shitty animation to good effect. They got really creative with their money saving animation shortcuts.

That's the thing about Western animators. It's like they don't know what are scenes they should put a lot of effort into and which scenes they shouldn't. For example when people are talking in an anime they may only animate the mouth or may not even show the character talking at all and just pan over still characters or backdrops, but a scene later they will have an action scene where they obviously put 80% of their budget into. Western animators on the other hand don't seem to be willing or able to make decisions like that.

An animators job isn't done when there is nothing left to add but when there is nothing left to take away.

Why does the word lazy EVER enter these conversations? No lazy person in the world is going to work 28 hours a day in the suicide factory for a yen an hour . it's purely an issue of prioritizing resources, exactly as you you said.

I can't watch stuff with shitty uninformed writing that makes up shit for the writer to feel good about himself, that's why I'm dismissing your filth for what it is.

>, and that it's not like anime at all.
Maybe your friends are autistic.

>do you even watch anime?
Fuck no, why, do you?

>Western animators on the other hand don't seem to be willing or able to make decisions like that.
I think it's more that they value consistency. They don't want one or two scenes per show to look amazing at the cost of the rest looking like powerpoint presentations.

I don't even have to click, I know it's moeshit.

Normies are still under the illusion anime is DBZ, Sailor moon and pokemon. Many believe a lot of anime they watched in the past were American cartoons, or Europeans.

That's because Japanese animators don't care about lip sync. It's one of those cutting corner techniques. To put it another way, it's dubbed.pretty poorly.

I like anime and cartoons.

Is that bad?

"It's the same shit as every other"
I don't know, maybe if you actually tried watching even any show you'd be able to form your own real opinion.

weebs leave

>>agree to sit and watch it
>>it's the same shit as every other anime
You should try watching it from Battle Tendency, or Stardust Crusaders

A lot of people in this thread aren't even aware of much anime outside of Dragon Ball.

>only 5'7
>only

>Anime

Sorry you need to make yourself uncomfortable with the truth, retard.

Anime are cartoons just made in Japan.

What do you call Russian cartoons?

Trash

There's a lot of anime being made every season. 99% of it is unwatchable garbage.

People call them on this shit all the time, what are you smoking? I mean hell it's the one this shitty parodies of anime in western cartoons get right. I just chalk it up to a cultural difference, like how jap girls always have to sound like a tea kettle in porn.

Hahahaha. No.

What do you call French cartoons then?

I basically agree, but this is a terrible example. I remember sakuga from the 90s that looks better than this.

>I think it's more that they value consistency.
It's a severely limiting habit that I think is rooted in Western animators not being confident enough in their ability to divvy out the frame budget in any way other than the simplest and most consistent way possible. It's a lot easier to screw up otherwise. There are examples in anime where animators put too little effort where effort is needed and too much where it is pointless.

Porn.

sexy

Sup Forums is in general one of the most ignorant and less educated boards on Sup Forums. Even Sup Forums manages to be more knowledgable than Sup Forums all too often.

...

Yeah but in the brightside one or two are better than anything the west produces in one whole year

(you)

It looks great though. Aside from having to wait a second for a different angle to recognize Saitama is gettined kneed, everything is done very well.

DAMN, POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS LOOK LIKE *THAT*??
