it's ok

ill call your bluff and raise with one of the greatest films ever made

Thanks for playing

Liberty Valance was better imo

Seconded. Even Tuco agrees.

>these choices
God I love you guys.
I swear, our Western threads and the occasional Martial Arts film threads are some of the only bastions we have left on Sup Forums

calle

Will there ever be another good western?

no. they will have to be about stronk women and minorities

idiot. High Noon is the best. (Even She wore a yellow ribbon is better than The Searchers.)

...

Bone Tomahawk and Hateful Eight were both pretty good.

and we have a winner

The last truly epic (I hate using that word but it's valid) western was The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and that was bolstered by
>excellent character studies
>god-tier cinematography
>Ellis & Cave's amazing score
>flawless pacing

Some good recent ones that come to mind are
>Slow West (2015)
>The Proposition (2005)
>Hell or High Water (neo-western - 2016)
>Meek's Cutoff (2010)
>In a Valley of Violence (2016)
>Bone Tomahawk (2015)
>Forsaken (2015)

Sweet Country was great. Hell or High Water and Wind River are great neo-westerns. Also these and I quite liked Brimstone as well.
Searchers>High Noon>Liberty Valance>She Wore a Yellow Ribbon>Josey Wales>TGTBATU>OUATIW
Shane is better than all of those though. My personal favorite is Johnny Guitar.

Wind River isn't bad either

Do arthouse westerns exist?

For me, its No country for old men

sure: The Great Silence (1968)?

Tombstone
High Plains Drifter
Sabata

If you think spaghetti westerns are better than American westerns than you're a redditor pleb. Ford, Hawks, Peckinpah, Sturges, Mann, Walsh, Eastwood, etc. >>> Leone, Corbucci, Sollima, Lupo, etc.

if you don't think this is THE 10/10 western you should just KILL YOURSELF.

more like eastern amirite

This is my favorite. Fuck you.

>The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
another winner

>>Bone Tomahawk (2015)
I liked it but it wasn't very good. Something about it just made everything feel cheap.

I agree. Eastwood especially took everything Leone was doing and did it better.

>High Noon over Leone's masterpieces

Throwing in True Grit (2010) because Bridges just dominates every scene he's in
Wasn't sure if that qualified (as neo-western) but for sure. Wind River was one of my favorite films this year, hands down.
at time, The Proposition borders on arthouse territory. Maybe El Topo but it's a touch absurd

spelling favourite as favourite: fuck you.

This.

Sergio Leone > Anything else, especially with John Wayne.

fuck i forgot the picture

El Topo, Dead Man, Johnny Guitar, Meek's Cutoff, Jauja, Brimstone, The Shooting, Hombre

Top of the pile.

urgh 2010 version is garbage

Name one scene from an American western that is better put together than this masterpiece youtube.com/watch?v=qwb3P0fuM1c
Not even shitposting, just very curious what your answer will be

can we agree the western is the best genre of film?

>Leone
>masterpiece
One of the most overrated director of all time. High Noon is much better than any of his films, as is Johnny Guitar, The Ox-Bow Incident, The Shooting, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, I could go on. Nobody comes close to Americans when it comes to Westerns. Also Corbucci>Leone.
Only plebs have this opinion.

Amatuer
>youtu.be/JxCH0vCFHRA

Original had a great score

>There's a legend and there's a rumor
>When you take the 3:10 to Yuma

Yeah but does it have Ben Foster? No it does not

Ahem!

This

What is the joke?

>One of the most overrated director of all time
He is rated perfectly fine

Based Eastwood. Unforgiven is the best western yet. That´s not an opinion but a fact.

This is mainly just what I could find on Youtube.

If you think he's the greatest Western director then he's clearly not. Hawks, Ford, Sturges, Peckinpah, Ray and Corbucci are all better.

No it's not, it tops the original outside of the Duke, but even Bridges holds his own.

They call me Trinity 1-2
Young guns
Tombstone

Dude ripped off Kurosawa. Fuck off.

grown ups are talking, go shart in a mart or something

in comparison, Bridges has no fucking personality compared to Wayne not to mention the girl!

Not him but those last two scenes are fucking fantastic. I need to go watch those movies now.

>someone insults your redditer posturing
>respond with redditer memes
i bet you either love or hate Tarantino

>High Noon is much better than any of his films, as is Johnny Guitar, The Ox-Bow Incident, The Shooting, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, I could go on. Nobody comes close to Americans when it comes to Westerns. Also Corbucci>Leone.

4/10 Weak bait.

The Long Riders

>Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
listened to the album a ton of times but never actually seen the film.

is it any good? the fact that dylan has a cameo makes me thinks its not very kino.

>he fact that dylan has a cameo makes me thinks its not very kino.
Fuck off

Italians saved westerns from americans.

he's a horrible actor. a self respecting director wouldnt cast him
