none of them would work as movie, they are too long
vice city is based mostly on 80s tv series and movies so it works tho, maybe gta4 as serious gangster drama

how come all these games and Red Dead can have fun gameplay and good stories with 50+ hours, but all the story games being circlejerked nowdays forget the gameplay part and are only like 6 hours long?

shit even kojima remembered to have gameplay

Ron Howard made sure they cant make a movie called GTA

granted they could just call it Liberty City or something

GTA IV, it's got the most interesting story and would probably work great as a mini-series.

$

GTA 6 will never happen right?

If it does, it'll have no story mode, it'll be integrated GTA online bullshit.

The only one that's got its own unique vision and isn't just a tribute to famous movies.

I want it set in Detroit/Chicago

I'm sure its in development now, and I doubt it. They didnt do that for Red Dead 2.
What isn't broke, don't fix it

none of them, and i'm getting sick of this "gta games have good writing" meme

i'd say they have decent writing. the plots seems to eventually meander and lose focus but overall better than most, even games with a bigger focus on story. Compared to film and tv, which have some amazing crime stories, its average crime writing with satire

does GTA2 hold up? only fucked around with the top down games for a bit. Didnt really get into retro city ransom which seems similar

In per-production now. They are being tight lipped, but I suspect it will take place in London.

All the old GTAs were based on movies to begin with.

They should pick the most famous characters and write them a new story in a new city. All the GTA games are flashbacks, flash forwards, dream sequences, or in-setting videogames based on things happening in GTAmerica.

I'd make the new city a mash up of anonymous Midwest and Great Plains cities, easier to film, and you can rip the piss out of Fargo.

They added a lot of polish to the PC version. A lot of improved mood lighting and polished graphics. Makes it pretty immersive. Only problem is the world seems small after you get used to how huge the world's in the newer releases are.

I like it, but it's been YEARS since I went near it.

It's top tier fun in mass destruction police rampage mode. It's okay to play through.

>Compared to film and tv, which have some amazing crime stories, its average crime writing with satire
yeah i guess that's more or less what it comes down to: it's good writing speaking in terms of video game writing which ranges from passably good to diarrhea in a sock

When I was 14 I stole a cup of whiskey, rum, wine, vodka, etc and mixed it all together in a gallon milk jug, so my father wouldn't notice any was gone from any one bottle. Then played a drinking game with my friend, had to a shot of the mixture (shot was chugging an entire jar full) every time you got busted in GTA2. Made it through about 2/3rds of the gallon before we blacked out. Woke up to puke on all the walls and vague memories of leaving the room and staggering around the suburbs at night.

Which films should it ape in terms of cinematography?

DOOM

OP is a faggot
Gay Tony works best in characters, tone, plot, and climax

will they be huge cucks and not put in the nigger invasion?

Ever notice Trump Tower is the GTA 2 cover?

The most likely one to have an adaptation is GTA 4 starring Jason Statham in your typical action movie.

>nice

NICE

I had one save file in the final city that was perfect for city rampages. Started next to the tank, full loadout of weapons, no cheats yet used.

My friends and I used to do this weird 'dares' game. You had to last as long as possible, and you had to do the dares. Usually things like 'blow up a %randomcar' or 'you can't shoot for thirty seconds' stuff. Amazed I haven't seen much like it on twitch or streams.

>video game movie
When has this ever not been shit

Why is GTA III so comfy? Is it because it's the first one I played?

How did he do that?

yes

Maybe I'll check it out, I already have like 200 games to play and not enough time for any of them

Super Mario Bros

I wouldn't put it at the top of any lists. But if you can get a chance to play an hour of avoiding the cops, you'd get an okay idea of it.

probably the permanent overcast weather in it

I would think Rockstar must be desperate if they were to approve a GTA movie. To me, the games were like an action/crime film that you were in control of, so sitting back and watching an actual adaptation where everything goes exactly the same wouldn't have as much appeal
>but let's plays are basically the same thing
Not really. There's still a person commanding a lot of things that happen in that exact moment.
It set the standard for every other game that came after it while demonstrating what the then-new console technology was capable of.

GTA 1****

What was the punishment if you lost?

Did you play the GTA 4 expansions? I though they both felt much more like movies you watch. Characters who were more entrenched in their ways and a much more specific storyline

super mario brothers was unironically a good movie.

just a shit adaptation of the source material

like 10 years ago or more there was some legal issue because of the 70s Fox movie called Grand Theft Auto. I think the result was a studio couldnt make a movie called GTA even if it was based on the games while Fox couldnt make a game based on their GTA movie and call it Grand Theft Auto

The guy who dared you got to play.

And sometimes we'd just start throwing stuff at the person who didn't do the dare or failed it.

Only one PC between us, so that was the only option for GTA. Usually someone would be on the N64 in the room if it was there.

ZAIBATSUUUUU

because rockstar branches know what they are doing. not like they pump out a game every year to make huge bucks.
red dead redemption is among the greats with SotC when it comes to story telling.

This is part of what I was thinking. The cloudy/rainy whether with the classical music and the traditional mafia storyline. I might have to get out my ps2.

San Andreas would be absolute kino, but only if they included the jetpack and had James Woods reprise his role as Mike Toreno

Wow. You're right!

That gf as well though.

show me a more kino intro I dare you

A RDR movie has potential

Sounds like my memories. Conker Bad Fur Day on N64 and GTA2 on Playstation. My PC was too much of a POS to play any games, but we usually had porn showing on it.

Not cool enough, a GTA game needs to feel like a holiday to an iconic place. NY, LA, Miami, LV and maybe DC only

it's going to be vice city and more sorrounding areas

we had liberty city and los santos in both 3D and HD now. Only vice city is missing from HD universe.

thing is can they pull off charismatic characters again or will it backfire like gta4 in that regard. guess we'll have it by 2020 or something. man time flies.

Well GTA is British made.

It's a lot like Unforgiven if you haven't seen that

They had a trailer for it that played in some movie theaters. Was fucking hilarious, narration something along the lines of "Respect is everything... Cuz I'm just a voice-over guy. I'm a pair on tonsils that's it. Get out of the theater, etc". Was never able to find it online.

NO DONATION

NO SALVATION

GTA 4 would make for a pretty good series.

My friend actually bought his own controller about a year before he bought an N64, just for that 4-way Mario Kart action.

Thinking about it, why aren't there more dare-based streamers?

They should be adapted into the trashcan where they belong.

I'd like to see a streaming service where users put up actual cash in hold and dare the streamer to achieve something, if they win they get the money, if they lose they can still get the money by performing an actual real life dare on camera. Would be a great way to motivate female streamers to do more sexual stuff.

No, I haven't seen it. Looked it up now and it seems like my kind of movie.

eastwoods best probably.

magnificently crafted study of the western.

Its the last great western imo

It would at least be something NEW. I don't need to hear memes over my games, I definitely do want to hear ridiculous dares and other players trying to stop the streamer from completing them.

And female streamers know what they're doing. They're just as likely to put shoe on head now, but it's cheaper to talk them into it than dare them with money.

AND I worry that streaming services would clamp down on dares.

SO GOOD

(don't look user if you haven't seen Unforgiven)
The whole film is like 'stories are bullshit, nobody can do that shit', and then at the end Munny is like 'yeah but I can I just don't like to'. I've never seen that twist done as well as in Unforgiven.

Nigga just watch a generic heist movie.
GTA works great as a game, but it's too generic for a movie, not to mention it was done like 10 times.

Only one GTA heist based
