They spent several episodes building this shit up and then it's just: "Oh, I am not you. Guess I'll be off, then." The individual episodes don't even have such a thing as a climax, they just end at some point during a sequence of stuff happenning with no real meaning or payoff. It has all that weird stuff that could be played for maximum impact, and then it just has none. A reflection of Finn has under strange circumstances been possessed my a magical entity of the grass blade and gained an independent personality. And it has barely anything to do with Finn, who just goes malpractitioning for a day and then watches this new life ride into the sunset. How many times has he more or less accidentally created life now? And it just means nothing. Bonnibel has a fucking cloning program so her creations never truly die, wizards irresponsibly create sentient beings and nobody even cares! Everything from devastation of the kingdom to Finn turning up with a plant-based twin is just shrugged off and it all means nothing to anybody. Whelp, went through some arms, lately. One of them became a being that identified as myself. Guess I'll go skating now.

This arc started years ago, if you can call it that. And so far it has no real relevance towards Finn's character. It just popped up several times without much context and now culminated in an event that should have some form of impact, but it does not. This teaches Finn nothing. This is not a result of his actions, really. He had no possible way to foresee any of it and he did not even make a decision in the process. All that happened was Fern's doing and experience. Our main characters just kinda watched it happen, really. There are no visible stakes beyond the moment, no true motivations, no driving traits of character informing the decisions. Everyone is just bumbling around confused for a while and then things go back to relatively normal. >banana guard salvage the injured >Bonnie makes Finn a new arm >Fern walks into the tree house >Finn ends up tolerating this >Fern decides to get back to the grass labyrinth >Finn tries to be a doctor, knowing he shouldn't do that without prior knowledge >Fern confronts his creator and... punches him >Finn inevitably fails >Fern after finding that he is not like Finn in any way decides that he obviously is his own self, then >Finn's idea ends up working by wild coincidence, but nobody sees it happen, so Susan is just back
This just isn't setup and payoff. This is shit continuously happening to and around Finn. A weird exercise in storytelling, trying to see how obviously they can have the MC be a bystander to his own story before anyone complains.
