I will not disclose who I am, nor will I disclose where and when I saw The Last Jedi, for obvious reasons.
I have only seen the film once, so if my answers seem too vague or unconvincing for you to believe, then so be it.
As I said above, I’ve only seen the film once, and further viewings are required to personally gauge where I would rank the film, but it’s built greatly on the solid foundation that J. J. put down with The Force Awakens, and I’m convinced that many will see it as being as good as - if not better than - the Original Trilogy, or whatever your own favourite Star Wars film may be.
Rian Johnson is worthy of screenplay and director nods at the Oscars, and the same goes for Mark Hamill’s portrayal of Luke Skywalker and Adam Driver’s portrayal of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren. The late but great Carrie Fisher’s final portrayal of Leia Organa is bold, steely and charming, and I feel that fans will take warmly to her performance in this film.
This is a film worthy of any Star Wars fan, and I can’t wait to see it again myself, let alone audience reaction.
Nothing quite on the scale of the “No, I am your father” bomb at the end of Empire: it’s more of a consistently revealing film, whether that be about Rey, Ben, Luke, Finn, Poe, Rose...or the Force.
