There are two things among the large cavalcade of entities that have tried to murder him that the latest Ghost Rider detests most of all: Hulking Brutes and Knife-Armed Women.
So unfortunately for Amadeus Cho (The Totally Awesome Hulk) and Laura Kinney (The All-New Wolverine), they're about to have a good old fashioned Marvel Team-Up...with the grill of Robbie's flaming car.
>let's have the first arc of this solo ongoing be about a bunch of completely unrelated characters that Smith doesn't even write particularly well Every scene with Robbie is great, but that's only 1/3rd of every issue so far.
Look on the bright side, Cho. He could've teleported you to Hell. Just straight up Hades.
Andrew Mitchell
I think this scene makes the last two issues of build-up worth it.
Andrew Edwards
CAR PLATINUM!
Oliver Perry
This isn't even my Final Form!
Elijah Ward
Only Bros and Hoes. And you're neither, Cho.
Nicholas Gray
See, it's because of humanizing claptrap like this that Robbie can't just evaporate every gangbanger in a 10-mile radius. It's the end of Engines of Vengeance all over again!
Bentley Richardson
Cuck you, Amadeus! Right down to your kisses and your cars. You should have stuck to snake girls.
Ryan Ortiz
Eli, you probably killed your own brother. How directly is still up in the air, but that's about as low as anyone can get if said sibling wasn't a total super bastard.
Parker Thompson
...
Jack Ward
...
Dominic Gray
OP still here?
Robert Stewart
Gambling addiction, maybe?
Jaxson Hernandez
Jesus god that's a pretty creepy monster design.
Juan Davis
Ah, covered in fetid white organic discharge.
Just another Friday night for X-23!
Hunter Jenkins
Well now it's part Korean. So there.
Hudson Bell
All right. Now here's a surprise cameo if I ever did see one.
Carson Torres
>Fat guy riding a rascal
Christopher Morris
And Jonah continues to hate spiders
Christian Cooper
Down, Cho.
Cooper Foster
Didn't Robbie's boss try to stiff him his paycheck in Engines of Vengeance? And now this. What a jerk.
Ethan Roberts
Sorry about that.
Adam Mitchell
> New Fantastic Four > Casino monster
Circle of Four 2!
Brody Fisher
Wasn't this supposed to be a Ghost Rider book?
Brandon Cooper
Thanks, OP.
Jackson Powell
first arc is apparently setting up a new team book
Christopher Nelson
Jesus.
Why can't Robbie just have a book?
He gets, like, 2 pages each issue.
Come on.
Levi Clark
kek
Levi Myers
I hope the end of this arc has Silk, Laura and Amadeus offering Robbie a teamup, and he just responds with "get outta my neighborhood".
Kayden Green
That's all for this month! Next time, Robbie contends with the girl who kept trying to mate with Peter Parker and gets down to some non-supernatural monster hunting.
And sneaking a glance!
He really ought to stop giving them money then.
It's a tough neighborhood, friend. But maybe after nearly getting shot to death, he's trying to genuinely stick to the straight and narrow.
True enough.
Salvation by Cameo?
You're Welcome!
Same here.
Hopefully the next two issues will be the ones where he demolishes stuff for real. I know Felipe wants to tell a compelling human drama, but come one, give us some of that old metalhead ultra violence!
Eli Anderson
>the car can just spontaneously appear where Robbie is [Born This Way]!
Bentley Gray
This rubs me as kinda an awful idea, I get wanting to set up a team through a book, but so fucking early into the book? This shit actually harming my interest in the book and I like Robbie.
Benjamin Morgan
There weren't any solicits for a new FF or Circle of Four book, so unless this arc was Smith's idea and is doing this purely because he likes the idea of doing so, I can't picture why Marvel wanted this team up. And yeah, that's pretty good.
Brandon Scott
Except, you know, it's not insanely situational and limited in targeting.
Seriously, she's cute and all, but Kira's sister will never be as rad or get as much action as her original universe counterpart.
Jace Morgan
...
Leo Lopez
Can this finally be a GHOST RIDER book yet? I don't give a shit about the Affirmative Action Patrol at all.
Thomas Sullivan
>Laura looking this adorable It ain't right I tell you.
Camden Young
Oh my God they made X-23 so fucking lame!
Thomas Sanders
Bye ghost rider
Aiden Reed
>Moon >not Analog He is shocked alright
Samuel Williams
Or you could just have a person that can teleport take it somewhere else. Or use your supposedly 8th smartest brain to make a teleporter to shove it somewhere safeish. Or call in technologically based superheroes to help. But nah. Let the things spiral out of control until you let it get spider-man powers which alone means that it can take out 99% of the superhero community before we factor in regeneration and Hulk powers.
Sebastian Anderson
He actually IS trying to be on the straight and narrow. I feel like you didn't pay attention to the previous issue where he came to meet them so that he could possibly convince his former gangmates to give up a life of crime.
Carter Richardson
How does Robbie not know what a Hulk is?
Asher Wright
He probably knows the old Hulk. He presumably does not give two shits about keeping track of new hulks nor has the time.
Logan Gray
Wow Im so glad I could read this GHOST RIDER BOOK MARVEL. Seriously, fuck you. I want to support Robbies book, but Im not paying for this shit until its actually about Ghost Rider
Ian Foster
This shit is so canceled by #6. No one cares about these other fuckheads. People read Ghost Rider for Ghost Rider.
Charles Martin
The book isn't looking very good once FF shit stops either.
Has anyone confirmed if the team up was editorial mandate or not?
Ryder White
It was part Korean when absorbed Cho's powers
Charles Parker
>Affirmative Action Patrol
Laura's been around for over a decade and is easily one of Marvel's most popular and well known legacy characters. Cho's also been around for years as a supporting character, most notably for Hercules, so I don't really feel like he's filling a quota or part of affirmative action, even more so now that Jen has taken up the main mantle. The Spider family is ridiculously large now, and if you've only read Silk from Slott then I can totally understand the disdain, but she's been great in her solo and I'm happy to see her here.
That being said, even while I'm a huge fan of all these characters I can agree that this team up shouldn't have been the opening arc, especially at the expense of Robbie who is by and large the newest of these characters and could still benefit a great deal from some additional fleshing out and development. This will especially feel like a waste if we don't even get a New FF title, since then this will probably be the only time we ever see these guys interact.
The storyline is fine, Robbie and his supporting cast are depicted well alongside his central conflict with Eli, there just isn't enough of it in each issue in favor of monster hunting. I can kind of see where there head is at when they want a bunch of guest stars to prop the book up and bring in fans from other series to try and increase sales and visibility, but I think Robbie's story if given the proper time and focus is a much bigger draw and they only risk alienating his fans by focusing so much on cameos.
Tempering my expectations, so long as he gets at least 2-3 trades worth of issues past this FF stuff, I'll be happy. Hopefully they give Smith that chance.
Samuel Miller
>punches car in the air >Robbie lets car phase through him
Its subtle, but a really cool trick.
Ryan Green
I think it's just an extended Fantastic Four reference, as there haven't been any solicits for a team up book with these four. Though yes, it is weird that one would start their book with a team up.
Lincoln Bennett
But that looks awesome.
Sebastian Thompson
>he no-sold it completely YES
YES ROBBIE YES
Isaac Martin
Where's Reyes?
Isn't this the Ghost Rider book?
Chase Kelly
I'm just surprised the promo didn't lie
Nicholas Perez
>B-bakana! I can't believe we're only getting to Silk in the second half of the book.
Robbie only meets all 3 of the team members by the Last issue of the team up.
It's so fucking weird, because the pacing and structure specifically feels like it's the jumping off point for a full series, like an origin story for a team basically, but there's no FF solicits.
Brayden Nguyen
This looks a little fucked to me.
Elijah Rogers
>mutant Triggered.
Alexander Carter
>Not wanting Ghost Rider super mode Robbie Fuck you.
Owen Myers
Still on this shitty team. Pass.
Ian James
Kurosaki!!!!
I can only hope that 5 is a giant upswing in quality. Robbie's supporting cast has been left in the dust. Even Gabe has been absent.
That said, Robbie assuming Chulk was with Hyde was a nice touch.
Juan Kelly
How does Cho not know who Angel is? She's wearing a Wolverine outfit, he can't just assume it's a random guy called Angel, it's very clearly the X-men who Cho would very obviously know
Logan Roberts
>Robbie has hell Satan powers >Laura is dating Angel (obviously not a real angel like the real ghost Rider/spirit of vengeance) >this is all nothing but a coincidence
I'm surprised but not upset that all of Robbie's foes so far have been genetic biological freakazoids and no mystic stuff has gone down.
Xavier Reyes
So, when are we getting Shin Ghost Rider Type Deadheat?
Aiden Butler
To be fair she is in the middle of LA. There could totally be a ton of people named angel to pick from.
Evan King
When the next toy push happens
Landon Lopez
I am not gonna lie, I would pay for some Ghost Rider toys.
Joshua Barnes
>ghost Rider could be toyetic as fuck but parents aren't going to buy their kids hell based superhero products
Why am I imagining a "black ice" ghost Rider inspired by hell literally freezing over?
Adrian Morgan
They sold toys about monsters all the time
Michael Clark
Man, I really don't like the new costume. The mask is fine, but everything else is too anime. Not even in a good way.
Cooper Sanchez
Monsters != demons and demons != Christian hell/satan based demons
Daniel Ross
Should have been Mania.
Alexander Brooks
>ghost riders in an infinite array of flame colours
Jose Lewis
i'm still holding my hopes for a team-up with her.
Anthony Miller
Best we can hope for is the Moore design getting a Legends release in a few years.
Ryder Garcia
...his head isn't a skull anymore!
Nathan Nguyen
>...his head isn't a skull anymore! DROPPED
Bentley Morris
I'm having flashbacks to 2014 when ANGR was first announced along with Ms Marvel
Jace Gray
I miss 2014.
John Butler
Remember when everyone hated ANGR's previews, and then when it actually came out people obsessed over it enough that it was storytimed to the point it was almost omnipresent for the first few months?
Jaxon Morales
Remember all the KamalaxRobbie shipping we did to the point that when SecretLove got announced, it got stickied?
Good times.
Caleb Young
Remember back when Marvel was actually able to prove Sup Forums wrong, and our complaints about ethnic teen legacy heroes was invalidated by the comics actually being good?
Carter Stewart
So wouldn't this have worked better as the current storyline for the main hulk book and the arc ending with "For more Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider check out Ghost Rider coming MM/YYYY"
Cut out some of the excess stuff the focuses on Robbie himself and save it for issues 1 and 2 of the ghost rider book proper and just focus wholly on Hulk in LA teaming up with the rest of Not!CircleofFour with Robbie as a reappearing local threat that outclasses everyone except hulk.
Leo Barnes
> we
who the fuck on Sup Forums was doing that? Anybody with a brain could see that Robbie and Kamala have zero chemistry.
Parker Barnes
>who the fuck on Sup Forums was doing that? Like every fucking thread had RobbiexKamala shippers. And before you say it, no, tumblr never gave a flying fuck about Robbie let alone the RobbiexKamala ship.
William Edwards
>Robbie and Kamala have zero chemistry they have literally never interacted outside of Battleworld
Josiah Russell
I think they were trying to push Robbie as the "leader" of the not!Circle of four
James Robinson
I'm starting to think this was originally proposed to be an arc in either Cho's book or Laura's and got shoved into Ghost Rider after the creative teams on those books rejected using their books for it
Ghost Rider had a toyline back in the 90's though, and if a general MU toyline lasts long enough it inevitably includes at least one Ghost Rider figure somewhere down the line
Luis Ross
It's just, it's a 4 issue arc, and Silk wasn't even introduced until the third issue and won't meet Robbie until the last one.
It clearly has the pacing of an origin, given how little will have been accomplished by the end, but there's no new Co4 book.
Also fuck, Robbie's first ever appearance outside his own book is going to be in Gwenpool.
Kayden Brown
>can control it remotely without driving it >Spontaneously summoning it to him out of thin air >selectively intangible
The car is straight up a stand.
Logan Hernandez
It should have been Kaine.
Isaiah Scott
>Also fuck, Robbie's first ever appearance outside his own book is going to be in Gwenpool. WHAT!?
Jaxson Hall
See Honestly, I'm eager to see what Gwenpool is going to say about him, given she's become sort of a reader/audience surrogate. Maybe gain some insight into what editorial thinks of Robbie.
Joseph Morgan
So Robbie can: >teleport to his car >teleport while driving the car using hell portals >summon the car to his side >phase through his car >drive his car remotely, even outside of it >car can do all kinds of crazy shit like propel itself into the air with flames and explosions >can tank a punch from the Hulk with literally no give, not losing any ground >can't be cut by Laura's claws (keeping in mind she doesn't have adamantium though) >general (hell)fire kinesis >some sort of minor metal kinesis given how he wields the chains and blades >literally send people straight to hell
Does anyone have that page by the way? Eli and the Russian mobster I think?
