Fairly Odd Parents

Since there's a new episode tonight, might as well make a thread.

Genuine question, why do you guys still watch the show?
I haven't seen the show in ages, reckon I should give it another chance?

>reckon I should give it another chance?
No

I only still watch it because I like a couple of the ships

It's not as good has it used to be, but its still decent.

It had like 10 chances, no need to give it another

>People still won't just admit Tootie is the end game
>Even after we saw what his kids look like

You're still not gonna get the links for MEGA, Brandon

What's the new episode about?

what

I feel like it kind of ended back with the channel chaser movie.

>There are people right now who don't think Chloe x Timmy is the new end game

Not happening. Assuming this isn't the final season, Chloe will eventually be given a minor role, then scrapped entirely like every other failed new character. Butch isn't going to ship them.

So what happens when one of them becomes too grown up for fairies? Do girls get screwed over by this rule since they mature faster than boys?

I honestly dont even know why Butch introduced her. He hates people for drawing porn of the characters and then does something like bring on a new girl. I guess his morals come last when poochy-tier gimmicks are all the show has left.

>flash animated

What?!

He's not going to end up with Trixie Tang?!

What is this blasphemy?!

This show's still going?

2001/2 called, they want their ship back.

So kind of what I thought then, people quite literally only watch it for the ships.

Same, feels like the first Spongebob movie all over again (was/feels like is should have ended there, still goes on).

>2001/2 called, they want their ship back.

Yeah, that ship died a long time ago. Especially when they dropped the "girl who hides who she really is because she's insecure" plot line.

They ruined her character back in 2008ish when they let her stagnate, now (when she shows up) is selfish and spoiled. No redeeming characteristics.

The show isn't any worse than Teen Titans Go or modern Spongebob, though.

Sure, its not great anymore, but it's not terrible.

Seriously tho, give link pls. I can't find it anywhere.

>Searched Google

At least give a hint.

>Show ruined Trixie Tang

Ugh. Stupid writers.

The only end game Chloe caused is the cancellation of the cartoon.
Most viewers associate Timmys future wife as Tootie. No one gave a shit about Timmy getting with Trixie and that pairing was better off dead even with all the focus they tried giving it post Poof. They should've just went with Tootie instead. The ratings for the live action series was a high point for the show.
Introducing a new girl out of nowhere to fill a better characters shoes will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in Hartmans career.

That's probably part of the reason why that porn comic is so popular.

No. Trixie is who Timmy should have ended up with. A popular Asian chick.

Why? They had no chemistry. They didn't even look good together from an aesthetic standpoint, Timmy looks like a manlet next to her and there color schemes clash. Who gives a shit about her elementary school popularity or non-mentioned race?

That's the fault of the writers it didn't work.

Tootie is Timmy's true love? Really?! Seriously?! An obsessive braceface?

The "romance" and ships on this show are all awful, why do you care so much? Not him by the way.

It's really hard for the Eternal Trixiefag here to get over the fact that love is about chemistry and personality, not looks. Timmy and Tootie shared common interests, common enemies. The only thing the writers did wrong was not committing to them and instead maintaining a status quo triangle that hampered everyone's character development.

FOP had better romance episodes than many cartoons. if you want awful ships and romance, Mordecai-Redmordecai-CJ episodes, Finn ships, and most of Gravity Falls would like to have a word with you

I bet it was something along the lines of

>Hey Butch, you know the ratings for your show are down, right?
>y-yea
>Well you better do something about it or knuckles here is going to show you the door.
>Wait! I got it! I will introduce a hip new character, that will bring the viewers in!
>Pray that it does,

I lost track of the show early. In my mind, there is one true ship for Timmy.

Uh, did the writers ever flesh Trixie out? It's kind of hard to declare she's not right for Timmy if we never even got to know her.

This tbqh fampai.

The show pretty much hammers it over the head of the viewer that the choice Timmy immediately wants is not necessarily the best in the long run

No it didnt.

You are an adult.

You realy whatch a show made for Kids, where the writting doesn't fucking CARES for shipping...because of shipping?

Seriously why? Do you at least has something good to say about the show?

Exactly.

Did Trixie even get an episode centered around her?

True, most series have worse shipping shit than FOP, but that doesn't make it good. It just makes it better than shit.

The one where she goes all possessive on Timmy when they were wished alone in that mall

I want to investigate the mind of a tumblrite. What goes through their head when watching cartoons made for children SOLELY for shipping purposes? It's fine to watch cartoons if you enjoy adolescent humor, want to relive the old days, or sometimes just want to feel like a kid (or maybe even the show is just THAT good), but shipping? Is it a female thing or what?

It's not just girls, waifufags here do the same thing with material just as infantile.

>tumblrite
>most of FOP came out before tumblr or social media was even a thing
What did he mean by this?

RS didn't had bad shipping episodes, it had multiple bad resolutions to them.

>Trixie
>Possessive

That seems.....really out of character for her.

The best of her episodes had little to no shipping with Timmy, which is what I'm trying to say.

Well you have to actually develop a character for a ship to really work. My impression is that the writers never really fleshed Trixie out.

It actually isn't. The point of Trixie's character is that she is the epitome of a bad teenage girlfriend. Pretty, but extremely possessive, wants a boyfriend as a social status rather than a genuine relationship, centering her life around fashion and trends. A few of her fans rage because of that episode where she likes comic books and something something gender roles but it never got developed beyond that. Its probably closer to Lucy Loud liking that MLP parody thing, a funny little irony to her character but otherwise not an important part of her role to fill on the show.

Fairly Odd Parents was before tumblr/deviantart shipping was a thing.

So popular girl = bad. I hate that cliche.

I'm not saying she'd be a saint, just complicated.

More like it was a genius move on Hartman's part so the series could finally die and he could move on to other projects without being weighed down by FOP.

You're getting the wrong message. People NOW only watch shows SOLELY for shipping, which is a tumblr thing. Are you claiming that when FOP first came there were people who watched the shows just for the shipping aspect?

Except that his other projects suck.

>I don't even really believe in "God"
Gee, ever wonder if maybe that was the real problem?

>There are people right now who don't think Chloe x Timmy is the new end game
...How fucking old are you people?

34.

Well its hard to imagine them doing it for this show since Chloe and Timmy have no shipping moments ever, Tootie and Trixie only appear as background props this season.

>Trixie and Tootie as background props

Oh how this show has fallen.

>Uh, did the writers ever flesh Trixie out?
That one episode that never got mentioned again where Trixie pretended to be a boy.

I don't think that's what he means.
We don't know a whole lot about Trixies home life, or her relations with other characters.

But it's still important because that was a part of the character that we didn't know previously, but it might as well have been retconned because it was never used again. It's like the episode never happened.

Which raises the interesting question as to why Trixie Tang pretends to be a boy.

Does she have interests that are considered more for boys than girls? Did one of her parents actually want a son?

She became Wonder Gal.

Trixie and Timmy could have bonded over "boy interests" they both happened to share.

>Being over 30 posting about non-existent shipping in children's cartoons.

JUST

It was just a disguise. Not even a clever one... she was still wearing makeup!

Yeah, but it would have given her some actual dimension if she had had a tomboy side.

It don't matter
None of this matters

>a newly introduced underage character instantly means he's shooting for porn
well fuck me

guess you can not just draw a fucking beach ball with eyes without having it sexualized nowadays

We're entitled. We feel we own pop culture because we grew up with 80s and 90s cartoons.

We're the Old People of the Internet.

I don't think it was the lack of depth that turned people off to Trixie.
It was the "jokes" where she slutted around with Chad, Tad, Francis, I think even Chester and AJ, and even Mark the alien.
Kind if what turned people off to WenDip and that character destroying "my former boyfriends" joke in season 1.

sauce?

Yeah, the writers dropped the ball regarding her.

"Let's establish Trixie isn't right for Timmy.....by wasting a ton of seasons on her."

It was in a major funk but is honestly getting better.

Also this confirms my thoughts that Kisscartoon just steals from Sup Forums

The episode for last week was never put up so it isnt up on Kisscartoon either.

Well... forewarning. It involves underwear for the incontinence.

>New episode tonight

I just checked, no there's not.

Certifiable Super Shitter?
Its on dailymotion.

>people think that the possible cancellation is due to shipping
He has canonically had more chemistry with Cindy Vortex than Trixie, and she's only in 6 half hours.
Trixiefags are the most deluded people in all of Sup Forums

>guess you can not just draw a fucking beach ball with eyes without having it sexualized nowadays
>Where do you think you are.jpg

Trixie/Timmy could have worked if the writers had actually put the work in.

Maybe. There are other factors too... like the horrific replacement theme song.

Trixie was a beachball ("Just Desserts") at one point, lol.

Oh Ive seen it. I remember someone saying Kisscartoon gets a lot of their current cartoons from Sup Forums
>Shitter
The episode was great you pleb

>He hates people for drawing porn of the characters

How much of a faggot can you be?

I have no idea, let's check the map just to be sure.

>can you say, "map"?

>Oh Ive seen it. I remember someone saying Kisscartoon gets a lot of their current cartoons from Sup Forums

They have to get it from somewhere, though. What's it matter if they get it from here?

You are putting way too much importance into incredibly trivial things just because you dont like them.

But that was never the intention. he romance subplot was never a major aspect of the show, but just a segway for plots. Especially on the Trixie side. You could say the Tootie one had a lot more importance, but even then the show prioritizes friendships over romance, which is why the new love interest was one episode only, but the new friend is a main character

I never said it was a problem, just something I noticed.

I liked Trixie on an individual level and would've loved to see her explored more.
But I don't see the Timmy/Trixie ship as being important to the show or Timmy growing as a character.
Now, for Tootie it's also hard to put much thought into shipping, she's even younger than Timmy, but seeing her in the role Chloe is now with Vicky as a more important villain would've been great. Instead, we get nonthreatening Crocker as the main villain.
It's all a big fat waste.

>You are putting way too much importance into incredibly trivial things just because you dont like them.
Not sure what you mean, but the reaction to Chloe seemed mixed at best, and the reaction to the new theme song was almost entirely negative.
People are honestly just fed up with Hartmans shit, BiaB premiere got even lower ratings than season 10 FOP.

Honest misspelling, though the episode was a 7/10 at best.

Vicky can never be a main villain because babysitting plots can never last forever at that regularity. They did well enough in the beginning, but over time it was harder to do

In seasons 4 to 6, Vicky was in a tonne of episodes, but she was doing a lot of different stuff and there was some lust for power part of her character where she occasionally wanted to take over the world. Which some people didnt like (though I was fine with it).

Seasons 7 to 10 have less Vicky, but the other stuff has been discarded as almost all of her appearances centre around babysitting again. People dislike this too, but I'm happy that recent seasons are trying to dial back characters to how they were earlier (except Cosmo). Hell, they had to make her vaguely aware of magical creatures just so they have things to do with her still.

Crocker is just the easiest villain to make episodes for, as he can get in contact with pretty much every other good and bad guy in the series, knows about magic, can be in the episode as a friend, foe or just obstacle, and exists in a central location of appearing both at school and home.

It's less a waste and more this is just how the character interactions and plots would end up in a show like FoP after 15 years.

>cliche
Well it's true to some extent. Let's be fair here, most people will never end up with the popular/prettiest girl and those who do will probably end up pampering her well into her adult years just to keep her around. If you care about your own happiness, you're better off finding a girl who has enough independence to fend for herself.

While I do wish Timmy had ended up with Trixie ultimately, I'm not opposed to the idea of them just being unlikely friends.

That actually could have made for an interesting dynamic (popular girls aren't usually the protagonist's friend) on the show. If Trixie had gone from Timmy's potential girlfriend to an unlikely friend.

People dont like the new theme song, but I hardly see that contributing to the show getting canned.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the ratings since the show was getting higher ratings than most other cartoons on TV.

I'm not saying things are good or bad, I'm saying that the cancellation will most likely not have anything to do with the reactions of people on Sup Forums and YouTube to anything.

That assumes the popular character undergoes no character development of her own with time.

I don't like the cliche because it handicaps what you can do with said characters.

A reformed popular girl would be a useful ally for an protagonist, because she still knows all bully tricks by personal experience.

I agree with that, but FoP isnt a particularly amazing show. A 7/10 is a pretty average rating for most episodes. I'd say about 70% of them. With each season having a bunch of standouts and Season 9 having most of the shittier ratings.

The episode would have been better without the Poof voice stuff, which was the only thing I didnt really like.

That would have been a lot better. I could see it happening too since the show isnt afraid of changes like that. I'd say that if they followed up on the Timantha stuff, we'd eventually have that dynamic with Timmy and Trixie. But they'd never permanently break up the triangle outside future plots.

Trixie, can you please stop posting in this thread?

>Timmy and Trixie as best friends

Sounds good. Make it work Sup Forums people.
