Yeah it's good

This was very good. Judas had a voice like an angel. Gonna have to watch this again now OP

>They never imply the resurrection
>A film by Norman Jewison

hmmm

I thought you were memeing but his name is actually Jewison, that's pretty funny.

If only jews were actually this entertaining

It literally shows the jews as assholes that exploit Judas and then discard him as a used condom when they're done with him, all while he's having a mystic and personal crisis.
It also shows Jesus as a very good person, with human flaws but still very true to the gospels.
The Vatican loved it by the way, it's Protestants that kicked up a fuss because they're retards that can't into art.

Wouldn't say Jesus came across as neccessarily 'good' in it, he was totally disconnected from those around him and didn't understand them. Obviously also seemed fairly frustrated that no one listened to his message even those who claimed to love him.

>If you knew all that I knew, my poor Jerusalem
>You see the truth, but you close your eyes
>but you close your eyes
>While you live your troubles are many, poor Jerusalem
>to conquer death you only have to die
>you only have to die
What did they mean by this

It's the countrary, it's them who didn't understand him.
The Simon Zealotes song is particularly telling, and even The Last Supper.
He's still the son of God, the difference is that only he understands the message he's given, a theme that was also reprised many times in literature, even in The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov.

Read the Bible nigger

JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSS

His acting was great too.

>anything Scorsese

> Will he let me be? Does he love- does he love me too?

I remember watching this in my religious class as a kid, it was rad as hell. I should give it another go.

Who is the character that has an M16 or something at one point in the movie? That part sticks in my memory, I remember thinking it was awesome.

It's actually such a genius segment. Totally, breaks the fourth wall, but that's what gives it it's power

Yep, great how they show God's "answer" to him being his place in history with all the paintings, not cryptic yet still classy as far as a divine answer goes.

>My mother, my uncle and I used to watch the movie every Easter
>They had put on a family musical of it when they were children
>we all enjoy singing along together
>one day three years ago, my uncle is stabbed to death in the street by some crazy man on drugs
>crushes me and my mom
>last Easter, we finally watch Jesus Christ superstar again and burst into tears when Jesus dies on the cross

Almost enough to turn me into a christian desu

>If you had come today you could have reached the whole nation
>Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication
Is Judas right?
Would people of today listen to Jesus if he actually came these days and talked on national tv/youtube/twitch whatever other mass media?

Or would his message just be dismissed as conservatard/liberal/socialist ramblings no matter how many miracles he could show?

>Would people of today listen to Jesus if he actually came these days and talked on national tv/youtube/twitch whatever other mass media?
I don't think so, he goes against too many different yet colluding powers and interests.

The stories of life and teachings would take on a much greater power than his words alone. his mythic status allows him to be adopted anywhere. Look at some South Korean Christians, they believe that jesus dodged the execution and came to live in Korea. even if the specifics are lost, the core teachings are spread.
