It's storyboarded by Seo Kim and Somvilay Xayaphone, who have been a very good team in season 7. I don't have high expectations but I do look foward to seeing this episode.

James Baxter's first episode was only worth watching for his animation, everything else was sort of shitty at best.
I'm certainly not looking forward to this episode but maybe AT can surprise me as they have many times in the past.

Yeah, most of AT is filler. In earlier AT, the status quo changed over time (new sword, new GF, etc) and Finn and Jake bet the Lich sometimes, but I don't think any of that was "plot". The first plot episode was probably holly jolly secrets.

AT has been world building since season 1. Filler is just episodes that deviate from the main storyline to reach the episode count for a season. This term only works for shows that actually have a main storyline. The only "storyline" in Adventure Time is Finn and Jake exploring Ooo.
