Jigsaw thread

It's good.

It was a solid 4/10

Literally /ourguy/

Bit late there shill, user already gave everyone the lowdown a few hours ago.

Have fun trying to sell your generic reboot bullshit.

The fuck are you talking about? I literally just got back from the theater.

Sup Forums really is worst board.

Should i watch it if im bored?

2007 called, it wants it's torture porn back.

More like Jagsaw haha

razor sharp wit there user

It's because of these movies that Tobin Bell never had a good career

I love the subtle irony of this post, in 2007 people were saying that it wants stuff back.

>i passed your test man just LOOK AT MY FUCKING LEG

Genre films are true cancer on careers, if any of you are lucky enough to be in a genre film, make sure it's a shit one that nobody will be attached to like Grizzly 2.

I SAW FIRST SAW IN THEATER AND SAW 2 AND BOTH WERE BEFORE 2007 UNDERAGE NEWFAG

Yeah I liked it. 7/10 . and it was not open-ended at all. No chance at a reboot series, just a tidy ending that we didn't know we were getting in 2010

lmao it isn't even a reboot. it's a standalone prologue and epilogue in one

>not open-ended
>tidy ending
We did not see the same movie.

Can't wait

sequel confirmation when

see you in a couple of years for jigsaw 5

I saw in a review that it looks to clean and not disgusting enough for a Saw movie. Is that true?

They're giving it a new look. It's shot digitally rather on film, the sets are a lot cleaner, has more production value, looks slicker. Yes, it's true, but it's intentional.

It felt like they were pulling punches with the gore, one of the most gruesome kills (the blender) is offscreen. The effects are hit and miss, acid injection and leg sever look great, then you get the laser which is cartoony as fuck with lazy CGI.

JIG?

HYPED IM WATCHING IT IN AN HOUR

SAW

>tfw y take yak sbaro too seriously

Hah!

Probably once it passes the 20 million mark, which it probably will quite easily.

Zero Time Dilemma>Jigsaw

Yep. you went into the wrong theater fuckface. This movie was based around the idea of "IS JIGSAW BACK?" which would've led to a whole new franchise. This movie only worked because they could pull a "John did this 10 years ago" flashback. There's nothing like that left to do; Tobin has no role left in Saw so they won't continue it with Fallujah Joe

>which would've led to a whole new franchise.
>sets up a new killer who will continue the murders
>this totally isn't leading to a new franchise
Dumbass.

Admittedly it is going to be hard to see how they shoehorn Tobin Bell into the sequels. I get that the flashback thing has worked well enough so far, but it can't go on forever, eventually fans are gonna get tired.

An easy way is spend 45 minutes of the next one showing us flashbacks of Logan working with Jigsaw.

And it will be fucking horrible. I hope to god they don't do this, but I fear they will. That's what hurt the original series. Constantly being bogged down in flashbacks explaining the ridiculous ass pulls from prior movies. Honestly they should phase Tobin out of the series, as great as he is, conjuring up bullshit flashbacks to bring him back is tiresome. Keep his voice for the tapes, obviously.

>offscreen death in Saw
that seems weird

Any got any gifs or webms of the kills?

...

I was hoping the lasers would be the new reverse bear trap in terms of cocktease traps, but oh well, that still looks pretty cool. Guess there's no point in teasing the audience if you don't know if a sequel is guaranteed.

You don't see the blender? Do you hear it at least?

Member when the Sperig Brothers seemed to be on an upward career trajectory?
*guy dies from Resident Evil-tier lasers*

HAHAHAHA WHAT

That's not a bad idea. It's a shame they didn't go practical for this. I originally thought it would be impossible to do practical, but with the way they filmed it, definitely could've been done. Just do a prosthetic head in X number of pieces that can be pulled apart, it could've been an incredible effect but they were too fucking lazy and went with CGI, what the fuck.

When he starts getting minced it's a static close-up where he cartoonishly wiggles back and forth while CGI blood fills the screen. The next shot is a practical dummy slumping to the ground. It's very disappointing.

The final line from the killer is literally "I love me some watermelon" before he slams the door.

>the blender is offscreen.

Just got out of it and I liked it a lot. Won't win new hearts but if your a fan definitely worth the money.

Power ranking: 1>2>3>8>6>5>7>4

The Saw franchise loves its CGI gore, I don't think they really were into practical effects for any movie past the first.

I seem to be the only one who's okay with this, because I enjoy Saw more for its hilariously convoluted narrative than the pretty meh gore effects. I prefer my gore to be more practical, like Tom Savini-style.

>7 that low

The fuck are you talking about? Saw has always used practical effects. It used CGI like once or twice in the entire seven movies which is why it's so jarring in the new one. It's funny because whenever they had to do some insane, ridiculously complicated death scene they always nailed it with excellent practical effects but then when it would come with incredibly simple ones like a shotgun to the chest it would look like ass. The more complicated the kill, the better job they did.

I dunno, it's been ages since I've seen the films, so I could just be mistaken.

Fuck I was kinda hoping it would be like the wire trap from The Cube

I liked 1 through 6 a lot, but even I thought this one relied on coincidence far too much. It's better than the last film, but it really did stretch the bullshit levels.

From the spoilers it sounds like the same twist/plot from the 4th movie. I'll still love it though.

post more webms

cool. i am not home so not banned. anyways. never seen any. not into horror. so enjoy this post

1>5>6>2>4>3>7
Haven't seen 8 yet.

...

Haven't seen it but I'm very disappointed with the plot and "twist". I spoiled myself because I was very skeptical that this would be good. They hyped this shit up with "we waited 7 years for the right pitch", but it's nothing we haven't seen before, and a lot of what's happening just doesn't make sense in-universe except to trick the audience. Not mentioning anything about Gordon or Hoffman is just dumb. I don't want them to return, but there has to be closure for an active apprentice who just stops for some reason and another apprentice who's identity is known just disappearing. And if they wanted to reboot it and rewrite the canon, then they needed to say so and explain what happened in actuality. You don't fix the mistakes of previous films by just ignoring them. If you do that, it doesn't work as a Saw film for Saw fans, or as a Saw film for new viewers.

>Not mentioning anything about Gordon or Hoffman is just dumb.
Let go of the original series, Jigsaw deserves to be free of the shackles of the original seven. If you want to shoehorn it into the canon, Doctor G was not an apprentice, he only did favors for John, he had no desire to continue the legacy. Hoffman died in the bathroom.

Fin.

OH NO NO NO
*breathes in*

This is gonna be fucking kino

That's why I said they needed to address the alternative to make up for it instead of suspending the past in mystery for new viewers. It's fractured without any explanations.

...

They don't need to address anything. What I just said is the past and viewers who give a shit know it.

IN 333333DDDD!

1 > 2 > 6 > 3 > 4 > 5 >> 8 >>>> 7

you're on Sup Forums, you're bored

/marked/ as fuck. prepare to be raped by 312cuck and cabalbanned.

For as dumb as it was, it's immensely entertaining.

But if we assume things happen in canon with the other films, not bringing it up makes no sense because there are major apprentices which are connected to a massive crime case that suddenly disappear enough for nothing to happen ten years later. If we assume this is a new canon, nobody know's what actually happened and it's incomplete. Why reboot a series by cutting out the massive chunk of time where the antagonist is actually alive? This is even worse for new viewers, because they are thrust right in the middle of this plot and never know what happened before.

>mfw people don't consider V the best sequel

This would be the best trap to get in. What a fast and easy death.

Is the reverse beartrap back?
Since it looked like garbage in 7 despite being teased since the first fucking film.

Going from memory. but I'm pretty sure V suffered from the main game having almost fuck all to do with anything else that was going on. I still enjoy it, but I only rank it above 7 and 8.

>If we assume this is a new canon, nobody know's what actually happened and it's incomplete. Why reboot a series by cutting out the massive chunk of time where the antagonist is actually alive? This is even worse for new viewers, because they are thrust right in the middle of this plot and never know what happened before.
All new viewers need to know is there was a serial killed called Jigsaw and he's been dead for ten years. Literally the only relevance the original series has to this one. If your autism doesn't allow you to let go of the contrived nonsense of the original seven, you'll continue to be unsatisfied. New viewers are not confused because they don't give a flying fuck about any apprentices. To them, Jigsaw has been dead for ten years, is he really alive? That's the only thing going through their mind.

And that makes the film's narrative fractured and shallow. John has no development. I don't care about what normalfag "horror junkies" who don't need a good story and just want to see gore think. I can let go of the nonsense of the last 7 films if they give me some actual replacement story. If the film was a slasher just about gore, then your point would be fine, but it's not. It's always been about the story, and this film tries to make it about the story too but fails with a lackluster twist and an incomplete narrative. If they were just going to reboot it, they shouldn't have made it take place in the future if they weren't going to explain the past.

Looks so stupid

It looks so stupid

>good
Angry Joe gave it a 2/10

What do you like about 5 so much?

And I know I'm knocking the film having just read plot spoilers and seen video clips and such, but I'm just really disappointed in it. Maybe I'll like it more watching it, but I really don't agree with the direction they took with the plot.

>tfw it wasn't a crazy long lost relative or Jigsaw cult carrying out copycat crimes

Will the new killer be an immortal madman like Hoffman?

Remember the director's cut of 3 that randomly inserted that pace breaking cat fight? Man, that was pointless.

oh don't worry, there's a wire. for the comedic relief white guy

>Doctor G was not an apprentice, he only did favors for John,

you're literally don't know what you're talking about. Gordon is the ultimate apprentice

gomovies doesnt have an upload of new saw

when can expect this"? or is it availble to buy on itunes atm?

Its a theatrical release nigga

Not gonna lie, I think Jigsaw is one of the absolute best horror villains of all time.

It's so unnecessarily complicated. I love it.

Jigsaw is just an Americanized Fantômas, really.

>Master criminal who plans out everything in advance
>Sets up others to take the fall for his crimes
>Has henchmen nearly everywhere
>Some of those henchmen are apprentices
>Some apprentices are too damn ambitious for their own good
>Really creative and ingenious methods of murder and torture
>Police are noble protectors of the law and not inept or incompetent, it's just that he's too damn good

There are differences, like Jigsaw being less blatantly sociopathic than Fantômas, and the fact that Jigsaw ultimately did die and his identity was exposed to the world, but overall the general idea of a superintelligent mastermind is more or less the same.

I bet you'd like to get into some traps huh?

JIG??

What was the twist?

Where can I spoil all the traps for myself

cam rip where

I'll preface this by saying I love all the original SAWs and will defend their existence to my death:

Holy fuck Jigsaw was terrible. It came off as a YouTube fan tribute movie or something.
>all the traps seemed to rely on happenstance. What would happen if the blonde girl died in the first room? What if the fat guy didn't get his leg stuck? What if the black guy wasn't standing in that exact spot at that exact time?
>The black guys trap was so unnecessarily stupid. I still don't understand the point of it
>There weren't enough traps. I was looking forward to the opening scene trap which never even happened.
>when the guy was in the hospital, why didn't they remove the bullet from his stomach then? And how did the coroner get into the hospital room?
>how could Jigsaw possibly have known the girl killed her baby?
>can you even get arrested for sleeping on your baby?
>oh because the girl was selfish and shot the shotgun the fat guy had to die too?

Just so much stupid bullshit

I'm going to wait for it to come to dvd.
