Marvel and Freeform have found their Cloak and Dagger for the new straight-to-series coming-of-age live-action drama based on the Marvel characters. Former Disney Channel star Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph (The Night Of) have landed the leads in the new Freeform drama series Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.
>they will be romantically involved THIS IS NOT OKAY
Jaxson Reed
>“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is a coming-of-age series based on the beloved Marvel characters. Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul.
>Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.
>Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever. news.marvel.com/tv/58909/marvels-cloak-dagger-casts-leads/
Grayson Rodriguez
More like "Blacked and Nigger", amirite?
Daniel Ortiz
Olivia is meh, Debby was everything the show needed. I want the previous options back because these two suck.
Jeremiah Torres
Oh please. You could tell they would if their books ever lasted long enough.
Luke Lewis
>I'm older than her by 8 years
fug
Kevin King
I'm not that caught up on them, but does this sound like Cloak and Dagger at all? I thought the central, original thing linking them was them being the sole survivors of experimentation together.
Chase Adams
Nope. Only Ultimates tried to actually make them a couple. The various '80s limited series hinted that they might, but it never happened. By the time they popped up as a newer limited series in modern times, they had tried and Dagger didn't want it while Cloak was still pushing himself onto her in every aspect. Then their powers switched and the series ended. Naturally Marvel's writing pool forgot that the next time they showed up. Meanwhile Ultimates def was a thing like a romantic couple. It was.. ok, but it's nothing fascinating between it being much more common of a thing and the issues being group ensembles so other shit was more important to focus on.
Elijah Taylor
Like I said. If their ongoings didn't get canned.
Charles Stewart
cloak and blacked on work as supporting chars like they did in runaways
Jaxon Gonzalez
What's freeform? is that some new streaming bullshit or something?
Xavier Fisher
ABC Family rebranded
Jeremiah Wright
It used to be Fox Family.or ABC Family
Adam Reed
The old ABC Family.
Also, Olivia Holt does funny things to my dick so I'm on board with watching this.
Lucas Gomez
>it's different than muh comics >ree
Ayden Ramirez
It's the new name for ABC Family. They rebranded themselves last year.
It's targeted to millennials and 'becomers' who are 'free to form their own lives'. And yes it's as shit as it sounds.
Easton Rivera
Was "The Night Of" any good? I've never heard of this guy.
Asher Turner
>extremely light skinned women with blond hair >extremely dark skinned man Iv seen this BLACKED before
Brody Ward
>It's targeted to millennials and 'becomers' who are 'free to form their own lives'. That sounds very out of touch with what young people are actually experiencing right now.
Jaxon Scott
Freeform is ABC Family/The Family Channel they rebranded about a year ago it still plays all the same crap, 700 club in the morning, sitcom reruns in the afternoon and YA garbage at night.
Bentley Foster
What are young people actually experiencing right now? At 30 I'm way out of the loop.
Logan Collins
You're in the age when a lot of Hollywood actors are going to be younger than you.
Joseph Harris
Good last guy was way to light skin
William Green
I hope there's a romance
I don't watch a series starring white woman/black man and not have a girl getting BLACKED. That's not realistic, even by capeshit standards
Thomas Taylor
>but does this sound like Cloak and Dagger at all? Yup
It just looks like they added Katrina to Dagger's backstory
Jack Davis
Trend following which ultimately controls their lives
Gavin Williams
Debt and a shitty job market mostly. Most but not all young people were sold on the college meme without actual guidance and are steeped in debt ATM or working some shitty jobs to support themselves if not living at home. Only really clever or trust fund kids have the financial freedom and mobility to just go discover themselves and all that jazz.
But that's always been the case so I don't know why marketing executives think something changed
Jacob Hughes
>were sold on the college meme without actual guidance Word. I wish I never went to university now
Now I got college loans debts for a useless degree when I should just gone to technical school
Ethan Martin
S'fine.
Girl could be a bit whiter.
Levi Perry
Oh that's not too different than what I was/have been going through. Guess I'm not as out of the loop as I had thought.
I dropped out of college so my debt is really low. Been living on sub-poverty wages for nearly a decade. I've landed a transit job with the city that's essentially blue collar STEM. They're sending me to school and everything. By the time I get out in 2019 I'll be just around middle class by the standards of my region. I'm so happy that I can finally break my family's poverty cycle.
Chase Roberts
They're taking inspiration from the Ultimate Cloak and Dagger. Which should've been obvious considering they keep using this picture of the Ultimate Cloak and Dagger.
Grayson Ramirez
shit
Anthony Cooper
You guys only have yourself to blame. I worked full time all through college and am doing fine. You need experience with a degree. A degree doesn't cut it.
Colton Bennett
They also get experimented on by the same guy from the comics.
Daniel Long
I don't know literally anyone in my degree field that can work full time and have their course load in uni. What's your degree in? Were you also a full time student?
Bentley Green
>"white girl" is too black >"black guy" is too white Fuck you, Marvel TV.
Luis Morgan
as a foreigner, a question: given it's a very american thing to move out of family house for post-High school education, why don't just move in Europe? I've run number a couple of times and it's often cheaper to live&study abroad in a reasonably good(or even VERY good depending on your capabilities) university than stay in the US in a not-MIT-level university(the only ones where the name might county anything)
Samuel Myers
I am okay with this.
John Parker
still too light skin
Easton Johnson
Will this be canon to the MCU?
>inb4 none of the shows are canon
Cooper Miller
>Marvel ABC family
>accurate costume
pick one
Gavin Green
I don't go because despite possibly being accepted I'd feel like a leech going abroad for cheap uni and taking my skills back to the us
As far as moving out of the house is concerned, it's considered being a loser to stay at home past 18 and your parents will give you crap for it even when you're working full time
Hudson Wilson
Yes, he's dark enough. It's a shame the chick's tits aren't as big as the one that was rumored in the last thread but other than that, these seem like solid picks.
Aaron Reyes
Yeah, but there's others great options over there
Gabriel Jones
At least she's got legs.
Jacob Butler
Too young for sex scenes. Olivia is over 18, at least.
Nicholas Gomez
>I don't go because despite possibly being accepted I'd feel like a leech going abroad for cheap uni and taking my skills back to the us first, you'd need to go back in first place, which is not automatic- you might actually PREFER Europe.
Secondo, it's not leaching- it's LEARNING. Something your universities try the best to keep you from do by being obscenely expensive. The Right to Learn is very important to Europeans. Do you want to repay the cheaper(as in: fair paid) university? Become a better person through your learning.
Evan Evans
Yes.
Jordan Moore
jesus christ, Sup Forums was right. modern comics need to burn; marvel specifically. what is up with all this cuck shit
Asher Bennett
Did you even for one moment believe they WOULDN'T be romantically involved?
Eli Richardson
What? Did you miss Spider-man Homecoming, IronFist, and Thor 3? Those out weigh this and jessica jones.
Connor Harris
>Those out weigh this and jessica jones. No they don't. It's the one drop rule. ONE instance of black-on-white racemixing soils the entire setting.
John Brown
Spider-Man Homecoming actually has Peter with two black chicks or 1.5 if you wanna be technical
Noah Lee
I think Marvel should seriously consider recasting Cloak. Sure, diversity points, but a colored guy being _against_ the drug trade? I makes no sense to me. I suppose they could keep the current choice but go with a plot where Dagger is a high grade prostitute and Cloak delivers her to clients.
Brandon Ward
It was both. When I first got cable as a kid it was the day it went from Family to Fox Family (it was just a guy talking about the change all day, no programming). Then only a few years later it was ABC Family and everybody forgot about the Fox one. I'm a bit surprised it changed since it was ABC for so damn long, I'm guessing they wanted a serious rebrand since they finally took the "family" out of the name.
Gabriel Peterson
Oh I thought we were going by numbers in the MCU, not by "one drop rules". In that case the first Iron Man movies has it beat ")
Bentley Price
you are 100% wrong
Daniel Rivera
Jesus she's a fucking fridge
WTF is going on with Marvel casting?
Nolan Hernandez
>Morgan Saylor >In a movie literally called white girl where she gets rammed by a hispanic dude how did Sup Forums react to it?
Lincoln Robinson
Everyone will just see this as fetish porn
Logan Lewis
yeah but those are white guys purifying black chicks, not black guys corrupting white girls
Adrian Morris
Only Sup Forumstv/ and the like...
Everybody else will be fine.
Adam Walker
Oh Jesus.
Christian Butler
Hispanic dudes dont trigger them like black dudes
Bentley Long
I thought it was referred to as white guys throwing their genes away.
Jayden Martin
They've been around since the fucking 80s
Jaxon Rogers
Wishful thinking. Unless it's Ultimate.
Isaac Bennett
I wasn't that interested in going to college after I dropped out the first time. I'm only going now because the city's paying for it but I probably wouldn't otherwise. I'm just not the college sort for the most part. Also America is my home, my ancestral roots are here, so is my entire family and most of my friends. And I feel like I won't have as many opportunities to get ahead in my chosen fields in Europe.
these two characters aren't even remotely new but you guys are acting like this is some sjw propaganda
Sebastian Ramirez
Uch, she looks exactly like my sister. Do not want.
Camden Gonzalez
Sup Forums will be unbearable for as long as this series is on air.
Henry Gonzalez
I'd hug your sister
Jordan Torres
>Implying Sup Forums have been bearable at any point on its history
Ryan Miller
Another guaranteed slam dunk for Marvel, baby
Adrian Allen
It was. Before LOST ended.
Christian Wood
Trim your neckbeard.
Adam Fisher
i don't like niggers
Asher Hernandez
Why not?
Ayden Taylor
Thanks for sharing
Ryder Nguyen
Alright Sup Forumsmrades. This is all you need to know about classic cloak and dagger
Tandy was a rich girl who never got attention form her busy parents. Ran away from new york
Tyrone was a nigga who stuttered and never could stand up for himself because of this. he ran away.
They both ended up in the streets of new york and were kidnapped by other teens who were working for this organization that was developing synthetic heroin on Ellis Island. Tyrone and Tandy escaped and now have powers. Pretty lame origin story if you ask me. They are my favorite heroes though.
Cloak is basically a shadow inside of a cape. He can teleport through shadows and people cant punch or shoot him since "there is nothing there!" He is the embodiment of darkness so he needs to constantly "feed" on the "light" of people. He can swallow people up in his cape and once inside, they are shown their deepest fears. Think of this clip from Teen Titans youtube.com/watch?v=gq5NQtBop9w&feature=youtu.be&t=89 He can spit them back out if he wishes, but he usually eats them.
Dagger is the embodiment of light. She was a ballerina and uses this to jump around and dodge enemy fire. Her powers are that she shoots "daggers" of light from her hands and they can do a few different things. Like stunning/paralyzing people. Her daggers can also cure people of addictions.
Since they are both sort of a yin-yang thing, they need each other. if Dagger gets too much light built up, it will hurt her, so cloak feeds off of her light. If he eats too much though, it will weaken her. This is probably where the romance themes will be coming from. "they need each other so they MUST be in love!!!!!1!!"
Ayden Jenkins
They dont fight "muahaha im going to take over the world with my death ray!!" villains, they go after drug dealers and child prostitute rings. its cool because they are more realistic situations. lots of new york underbelly type of stuff . In their first solo series, they trailed a drug traffickers all the way to Vietnam where this army vet had enslaved Vietnamese people into harvesting the materials he needed to sell drugs. Pretty cool stuff
There was also this cop who was going after C&D named Orielly, I think. She was conflicted because C&D were better at catching criminals than her squad was, but they didnt hand them over to the cops like Spiderman. Cloak would just eat them, since he needs to feed. There was this conflict of "hey just because we have powers doesnt mean we get to decide what happens to them" and "we know they will escape or cause more harm if they are left alive, so we should let Cloak eat them". Orilley eventually gets backstabbed by some members in her squad and is exposed to another weird drug. She turns into Mayhem, who has the powers of poisonus breath and sharp claws. She helps fight with C&D for an issue or so before going off on her own thing.
Father Delgado is this Catholic Priest who lets C&D stay in his church. At first he is a cool guy. a good Samaritan. but then its revealed he has the hots for Dagger. He tries to break up the duo by trying to convince Dagger that Cloak is a demon for hell, since he is darkness. Delgado wants to comfort Dagger and eventually give her snu snu but C&D figure this out and leave the church. in the "predator and prey" GN, it was revealed he has an actual demon inside of him, so i guess Father Delgado was right. the demon brought Jack the Ripper into the modern era. it was pretty lame. not sure if canon
Aiden Hall
They don't like you either
Colton Young
You forgot the part about Ty's stuttering getting his friend killed
Elijah Ortiz
Not surprised that you know nothing about clock and daggers history
Angel Ortiz
i dont remember this
Jacob Bailey
If Waid or Marvel or whatever wanted to tackle real world issues, why didn't they revive C&D and have them go deal with the fentanyl crisis instead of dicking around with the Champions?
Jacob Lewis
They're not marketable
Andrew Ortiz
That sounds pretty awesome.
Jason Jones
i dont know. I havent read chamions, but it seems like the champions are new versions of well known characters, which makes them more recognizable
